Why the hate against nuclear weapons? Near as I can tell, it’s just paranoia. Nukes are but another weapon of war, differing from heavy artillery only in firepower. Sure, they could be used as a weapon of genocide, but so could anything else; nukes are just considerably more efficient at it. As it is, people are building smaller nukes and larger conventional bombs, and I hear people complain about blurring the distinction, but really, why should there have ever been a distinction to begin with? The real issue is the threat to civilians, but using nukes in the desert is no threat to civilians unless they are in the path of the fallout, which in many cases isn’t even that big.
