Forty years ago, when I was a captain in the Army JAG corps stationed in Korea, it was sometimes said that there were no Blacks, Yellows or Whites in the Army; everybody was the same color, green. It may not have been true then, and it may not be true now. But it’s a good thought.

Lt. General Benjamin O. Davis was not green; he was in the Air Force and was accordingly blue. I met him only once, and then only to exchange hand shakes, when he was the chief of staff for the United Nations Command and U.S. Forces in Korea. I came to admire him greatly based on his performance in that position.

Although I have never met LTC Allan West, I would very much appreciate the opportunity to do so. What I have seen of him impresses me very much, and I join in the hope that he gets elected. I think and hope that he will go far higher than the House of Representatives.
