“Another argument is that there is a form of projection going on (the Dems are the real racists projecting their true feelings on Republicans, conservatives, libertarians, etc.), but I don’t really buy that. Racism is pretty unpopular in our culture for good reason and I don’t think anyone’s projecting here. It’s an even more desperate wish that is being fulfilled.”
I have to disagree with you on this point, Roger. I think a good number of Dems ARE racists and ARE projecting their racism on conservatives. I’ll give you an immediate example: my father. He’s a black man who feels that he has been wronged by whites for all of his life. Recently, my father called me asking for my help in an auto-injury lawsuit that my brother was involved in. His lawyer wanted to exploit a law that would help my brother get more money. I thought it sounded fishy and demanded more information, but my father’s ultimate reason was as follows, “You know these stupid white folks and their laws and how they make no sense.” Now, why would he bring race into this issue especially since it’s a) a black attorney looking to exploit the law and b) blacks were looking to benefit? Now, my daddy would say he is not a racist, but when you listen to him talk about whites, Mexicans and Jews you get a different picture. And you think that’s bad, just wait until you listen to my friends who are part of the Nation of Islam!
These people hate people because of skin color HOWEVER society has made it difficult for people to be outwardly racist and, in a bit of an irony or disingenuity, or just plain dumbness, many of these racists are really friends with people of the races they hate. So let’s not cut the Dems’ any slack, Roger: the Dems play on race because they have always been at their core racists going all the way back to the days of Jefferson.
