James O’Shea and his fellow professional journalists are most assuredly worried about their future income. These people are not protected by civil service. They do not have a guaranteed job for life. Deep in their guts, they rightfully sense that the downfall of CBS will also hurt them. This is no longer a matter of mere ideology—but a probable financial crisis for a large number of credentialed individuals. Some of them are no longer spring chickens. Finding another way of earning a living will not be pleasant.
