The delay in the release of the CBS statement is odd. It may be that they are trying to work in something from Killians secretary to that effect that “these documents accurately reflect how Killian felt”.
She is entitled to her opinion, but it is contradicted by a lot of other people who knew the man. More to the point, the issue now is whether or not these documents were forged, who forged them, and why did CBS publish them knowing they were highly questionable, to say the least. I suspect their spin will be that “we know the documents are an accurate reflection of the reality at the time, so it’s not important if they are actually real or not”.
