I think the most important thing to recognize from the essay is how best to respond to such developments. By “such developments” I am referring to the cults described in the essay that were raised by various bad guys at one time or another ranging from Jim Jones to Mao, Stalin, and Hitler.

It certain isn’t an easy question to address while at the same time it may be of the utmost importance

We must recognize that it is futile to fight emotion with facts or logic and as the essay so aptly points out cult leaders build their cults using emotions and co-dependency.
