Massachusetts shocker: Brown Up 15% in Pajamas Media/CrossTarget Poll
171. Dwight:
“The Coakley ads say that Brown was against contraceptives, or more likely a day-after pill being given to rape victims in the hospital. Does anyone know his real position?”
You can find a synopsis and links to the actual wording in the legislation here.
In a nutshell, Brown did not want emergency room personnel with religious convictions against abortion forced into providing medications known to sometimes serve as abortifacients. The bill would have required the hospital to provide the service by alternate personnel or at another emergency room at no extra cost. In other words, strike the correct balance between the rights of the rape victim and the rights of the emergency room personnel.
All of which means that the Coakley ads are deceptive and misleading at best, or outright lies at worst.
