“Did all of your and Ron’s political views change because of 9/11 or just the national security stuff? I had no idea he was a liberal and I sincerely don’t understand this.”

I can’t speak for anyone else but myself but since 9/11 I no longer recognise the people who call themselves ‘the Left’ or ‘liberals’ as having the values that we used to share.

My own views haven’t changed but so many of those who were my peers are now so far to the extreme left or so confused about their values that they are now siding with groups and organisations they were once fundamentally opposed to. Once those on the Left would never have stood shoulder to shoulder with people who believe in keeping women as some kind of illiterate sub-class or the right to persecute or murder homosexuals. Now they do so regularly without the slightest qualm. On 9/11 much of the Left lost it’s soul.
