“The proper response to 9/11 would be to find and arrest those responsible for planning, funding and carrying out attacks against the USA.”

Dude, this is like a bad acid flashback. I can’t tell you how many “conversations” I had with you lefties on this very topic after 9-11. They all went something like this: You’d typically open with the arrest warrant gambit. You would insist, naturally, on international arrest warrants and that the culprits be turned over to The Hague. I would say, okay, now you’ve got your properly executed warrants (never mind how long it must have taken to determine exactly to whom those warrants should be issued–if you even could–and how long it must have taken to arrange matters to the exact satisfaction of the international community–if you even could; never mind that OBL has been under indictment in the US since the first WTC bombing). You arrive at Mullah Omar’s door and demand to execute said warrants (never mind that if you’ve done your job properly, you’ve got one for him, too). So, after the Mullah laughs square in your astonished and indignant puss and then slams the door in it while admonishing you to not let it hit you in the ass, what’s Plan B? Funny, but that was where the conversation always ended. I guess there was no Plan B. But the funniest thing? Now amongst your crowd, Afghanistan is the “good war,” the one where we dropped the ball and let OBL get away. You guys gotta stop being so predictable; it’s monotonous.

unctuous: smugly agreeable; insincerely earnest

That’s what people who sign their missives “peace” are.
