In comment #63, Jim C. said: Good ol’ Slick Willie had more than one chance to get OBL and he turned them down.”

It is a matter of record that President Clinton made an effort to kill Osama bin Laden. He’s since been blamed for it’s failure, as if he were the one actually aiming a weapon, rather than giving the order.

This is simply not true. He approved an effort to capture him but it was impossible to do with him in Afghanistan surrounded by Arab fighters. The suggestion was made several times to kill him but it was always vetoed because of the fear of “collateral damage.” Maybe you should read the 9/11 Commission report. That may also be why the TV miniseries “Path to 9/11″ has never been released on DVD. WE thought it might be after Hillary’s presidential campaign collapsed.

Contrast that with the first year of President George W. Bush’s administration, in which NOTHING was done about Osama bin Laden until after September 11th. Come to think of it, George W. Bush never did catch him, did he?

You mean the first year when he could not get anyone confirmed by a raging Democrat Congress minority that filibustered nominations and opposed every nomination, aided and abetted by weepy Republican tools like Voinovich? That first year ?

The DoD appointed staff were not in place until summer. Funny how memories fail.
