I don’t understand the wish to make Paul Ryan Veep. He has far more power exactly where he is. I am sure he will move to the Executive one day, but right now we need him in the House, crunching numbers and winning congressional (and popular) support for serious budgets. It is people like him who keep the idea of co-equal branches of government meaningful. If only there were more in Congress with his competence.
