Lowfields:
Why is it when a Republican president hands over trillions of dollars of tax-payer money in bloated, no-bid contracts so his friends can profit from an unecessary war it’s called patriotism, but when a Democrat thinks the money might be better spent on educating the nation’s kids or providing better access to healthcare that’s Marxism?
A 1 trillion dollar spending package is okay if “your” guy is doing the spending? If you’re not a Marxist, then you are at least stupid. A trillion dollar spending package will average out to $5000 dollars per worker (allowing for 200 million workers) in NEW taxes. And Obama has already said he doesn’t expect the stimulus package to fix the economic problems. And in this new package, the one damn thing that can stimulate hiring – giving employers tax breaks for new hires – is being opposed by the democratic majority. Once people really see this stimulus package (and the next one, and the next one) for what it is is, you’ll be able to hear the outraged cry all the way from space. Money for infrastructure and schools (education)…don’t construction companies routinely line politician’s pockets in the hopes of getting bids? The correct answer is yes. Education is a target of an “economic” stimulus package? How? More computers? That will in large part benefit China, where the parts are made and assembled, and also India…have you called up an technical online support line lately?). New school buildings? There’s those construction companies again. And don’t ignore secondary consequences. That new computer on the kid’s school desk means less burgers, pants, shirts, shoes, and night outs for the sorry sap that got stuck with the tab. Also, if the Messiah doesn’t raise taxes hellaciously (to where even you might object, Lowfields), then the government (not we) will be laying one big sumbitcth of a tax burden on our (not the government’s) children. Wonderful.
