As for Simon’s article, why would we go with the known? What do we know about Newt that makes him a better candidate than Cain. Just the fact that we already know all his flaws? So, in the next election, when Cain’s flaws are known from the get go, then it will be okay to vote for him? So, the problem isn’t a lack of family values but rather the concern that we might get surprised by the discovery of them at the last minute.
The pathetic truth is that most Republicans are not conservatives. The establishment Republicans cannot even fathom having a Bachmann, a Palin, or a Paul as president. Because then the establishment Republicans might not get to suck off the system as their liberal friends have done.
