Anything can be made salacious when put under the microscope. So far, we have had nothing but he said, she said. Where is the proof of a 13 year relationship? Where was White when Herman Cain ran for U.S. Senate in GA? I still remember thinking that Clinton was finished in 1988 after Gennifer Flowers’ statement was plastered far and wide in the media. And, then there were a string of others including Paula Jones, Kathleen Wiley, Juanita Broderick and a few more. Each of these women were far more credible than the any of the Cain accusers and actually presented evidence that was serially dismissed, suppressed or contorted in Clinton’s favor by the media. Where are the independent, disinterested eye witnesses of a 13 year relationship?
Until there is proof of romantic/sexual trysts between Cain and White, I continue to believe that Cain is the victim of a left-winged conspiracy. And, I actually do find his story about wanting to help a friend believable–especially within the black community. Successful blacks are pseudo celebrities within the black community as a whole. There is far less degrees of separation between successful blacks and their fans/constituents/consultants/, etc. within the political. media and entertainment industries than there is within the white community. I have had black friends (I am a white) over the years in Atlanta and have always been amazed at how anybody who is anything knows everybody even those far down the social ladder. I have seen black doctors who knew hospital housekeepers at a huge hospital on a first name basis. And in turn, these guys/women would have an inner circle of all levels of black celebrities and pseudo celebrities, local politicians, city mayor, high level company execs and the like. That is just not the case within the white community–our circles are very small and concentrated.
The black community is a much more close knit community than whites. I have witnessed first hand how successful blacks really do feel an obligation of service and humbleness around their black brethren. Cain could have been just a friend to White and really did want to help her financially because that is what successful blacks do within their communities.
As far as keeping it from his wife, that is the only part that I find myself dismayed. However, Cain has had an eventful lifelong career advancement across many states and has crossed paths with many many people his wife would not have known. So, unless/until we have more information about this supposed affair that provides solid evidence that this was indeed a sexual relationship, I continue to give Herman Cain the benefit of the doubt and will continue holding the finger to the media.
