Should Barack Obama Resign Tonight?
Only a man with a leftover undergraduate ambivalence about Western civilization would have dealt with the Benghazi catastrophe in such a fashion in the first place. Barack Obama responded to the terrorism like a Columbia junior stoned on a reefer, particularly one from his era. He took another toke and moved on. And then when he was told he couldn’t do that, he got angry at the people telling him.
How that will play out in Monday night’s debate, I have no idea (beyond my wish that he would resign and spare us any more of this). But Mitt Romney would be well advised to remember his opponent is a man who has not fully grown up. He doesn’t know how to take responsibility in an adult manner, so the chances that he will lash out are strong. He also may be aided and abetted in that enterprise by Bob Schieffer who, of the three debate moderators, is the longest card-carrying member of legacy media. In fact, he is one of the most long-standing around. You can count on his bias to shine through, overtly and covertly, because this could be the last hurrah of that clique (and they know it). Given public response to the debates and the moderators, it’s hard to believe we will see the same dumb show in 2016. If we do, shame on us.
And one final thing I would like to hear in the foreign policy debate but will not: It’s time to name our enemy. And by that I don’t mean al-Qaeda. That’s just the joker in the pack, the villain with a thousand faces, able to reappear in any mask imaginable and in any location. No, the real enemy is the pack of cards itself — Islamism. But Obama’s administration never mentions it. They don’t even use the word “terrorism.” It would be really interesting if Mitt Romney asked Obama what motivated Major Hasan’s mass murder of his fellow soldiers at Ft. Hood. I bet the answer wouldn’t even be worthy of an undergraduate.

Journalists always assume that coverups routinely bring down politicians because said politicians cannot resist trying to hide their mistakes even though it’s almost always the coverup rather than the mistake itself that brings them down. However, logically speaking, it’s entirely possible that most coverups are in fact successful, which is why they almost always accompany that very rare incident that does become a public scandal. This implies both that the public almost never learns about the mistake — the bad mistake — that is being covered up and also that most journalists are being badly fooled by most politicians on a routine basis. It also explains why the few politicians that do end up caught in a public scandal have so routinely been found also to engage in a cover up — because most times it works and just this once it did not.
Who knows how often Obama, with his pathologically favorable media coverage, has gotten away with covering up major and massive scandals during his career? And the same dynamic is undoubtedly is at work with many other black politicians, which may be why so many of them seem to act as if the voting public is composed mostly of blind fools.
barry Buh-rock hussien obama — best thing to happen to murderers of American citizens!
Romney/Ryan 2012.
God bless America.
Obozo, the Traitor/Liar/Poser/Socialist-in-Chief. I wouldn’t cross the street to pee on him if he was on fire.
John Dave wrote “I wouldn’t cross the street to pee on him (Obama) if he was on fire.”
I would, but not if he was on fire. In that case, I’d just let him burn.
Boy, Simon attracts wingnut assholes almost bigger than himself.
Yes, Joseph, us wingnuts are SO much worse than the wonderful folks on the left who are already tweeting about killing Romney.
Love it!
Wing nuts we may very well be but none of us would have ignored the plight of one of our employees if they were in danger in a place we sent them to. The Dear Leader is totally foreign to every value Americans hold. He has spent almost 4 years resolutely refusing to exert any attempt at governance. FT Hood was a terrorist massacre not violence in the work place.
Lots of people go postal and so far not one has yodeled ” Allahu Akbar ” in fact anyone hearing this phrase is well advised to hit the ground and roll away from the sound. That is what his weakness has enabled our enemies to do. This man and every one of those responsible for Benghazi need to be fully investigated and if responsible either by commission or omission needs to stand trial and if convicted of negligence, sentenced to prison and that includes the Bobsey Twins from the Whitehouse and Department of State.
What is it about the hammer and sickle crowd (like Joseph above) that prevents them from addressing issues being discussed and immediately jump into name-calling? Is it their inability to grow up, to always “take the ball home” when they don’t like the game is being played? Or is it the inherent totalitarianism in their worldview?
Then again, why should we expect rationality from trolls?
“No, the real enemy is the pack of cards itself — Islamism.”
There is no “ism”. It is simply Islam. The ones who commit terror in the name of Islam are FOLLOWING Mohammed’s teachings. Any so-called Christians who commit terror in the name of Christ (of which there never are any) are DISOBEYING Christ’s teachings.
/Mohammed is dead./
/Christ is alive./
How would you classify the religious terrorism that went on in Ireland during the last century? How would you classify the Inquisition? The Crusades? The Witchcraft Trials? What we did to the Huguenots? It seems to me that so-called Christians are no better than the Muslims.
All of those events go against Christian teachings, idiot.
The question is not who is worse, you fool, the question is who is our enemy in the here and now. Ireland, the Crusades, none of it is relevant to that burning question, which you squirm and wriggle to avoid.
Your projection here is telling. Since the US has a Judeo-Christian heritage, the US is in part to blame for all the wicked actions taken by those calling themselves Christian for the last 1000 years.
Here’s a very basic question for you: since you used the term “we,” what did any single US citizen do to any single Huguenot? The answer is nada. That you would conflate any US Christian with the actions of French Catholics 450 years ago is not only a disgusting distortion of history (and one of the dumbest assertions I’ve ever read), it is blood libel.
Ultimately, you are devoid of fact and have zero credibility to speak on this topic. Furthermore, you have revealed yourself to be nothing more than an apologist for the most hate-filled, murderous group on earth today; the Islamists. (We’ll keep that in mind the next time you decide to drone on with the laughable moral equivalence between Christianity and Islam.)
As a descendant of “Witchcraft John Proctor” of the Salem Witch trials, and going back further to Guilliame Procteur at Hastings in 1066, Man-at-Arms under William of Normandy, I’ve got a pretty firm hold on my knowledge of history. Christians, unlike Muslims, have not continued to paint the maps of the world Blood-red for over 900 years because of a well known, nasty-minded, pedophilic Desert Boob who claimed to hear voices out in the desert that directed him to murder all who came across his path. No…they did none of this. But then, history has proven that civilizations which refuse to advance will disappear one way or the other. I think it is quite clear it is time for “That Other” alternative. We’ve had enough nonsense and continual attacks from Islam…It is time to draw the curtain on this Abomination and it’s Moon God, Allah !
Don’t know much about history, do you, boy?
Hey stupid! Pislam is the only “religion”, that instructs it’s followers to kill, fight, and otherwise harm any/everyone that isn’t the same religion! Hell, there can’t even be any living being, of another religion, on the same planet. muzzies want to kill all christians and jews, because they hurt mad mo’s feelings, by rejecting his ideology. True life reveals that when muzzies don’t have any kaffers to kill, they turn on their own…..
OH NO, IF OBAMA RESIGNS, THE JOKER BECOMES PRESIDENT
No one wants the Joker to become President. NO NOT THE JOKER.
I think there must be a chess move like this. You can’t take the other side’s piece because the resulting situation would be so much worse… so you just leave the President in place. In business I guess you would call it the ‘poison pill’ strategy.
The radical-in-chief is Barack Hussain Obama and the American people have had the worse dangerous joke in its history every played on them. Obama is a fraud who somehow now stands at the highest office in this country and is systematically shredding the Constitution and our God given rights. Those who were in the know in 2008 are traitors to their country and should be exiled as traitors.
The preventable murders of 4 Americans in Benghanzi, by Islamic terrorists, who’s blood will forever remain on Obama’s hands throughout history as his Legacy. Those who stood by and let this happen are as much, if not more responsible for doing nothing.
Stop dumbing-down America, as your playing into their hands to keep us stupid and clueless. Remember also that ‘nothing is free’ and one day you’ll pay the price. That day is almost here unless we “Vote Out Obama.”
Islam is a religion. Islamism is a non-secular, socio-political ideology that ties Islam into politics. FYI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamism
Wow, Ridiculous posts a link from the all-so-authoritative wikipedia. The debate must be over.
Epic fail dhimmi.
“Kill them all. Let God sort them out.” Hmmmm Who said that? Was it a Roman Catholic saint?
We absolutely must get these people, those that believe in the teachings of Islam, out of our country. Expel and Raze. It is the only long term answer to our Islam problem.
There was a guy – Bob Woodward – who was a journalist. Yes, he may have had political leanings toward the left when he brought down Richard Nixon. I guess he was the last journalist. Today, no one goes after a story. They sit back and read press releases. Then, based on their politics, decide whether to rewrite and run it. Sad.
We need true state-run media like Pravda. With Pravda, you know it’s the state’s POV. You KNOW it’s to support those in power. With the “free press”, many Americans actually believe they’re getting the truth from mainstream media. If we added state-run media, you’d see how fast the private media would start searching for the truth. But wait. Seems we do have state-run media. The EIC is Jay Carney. Editorial Director is Stephanie Cutter. Of course, the editor of comedy is Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
The truth is that Woodward started the real slide in journalism. An entire enthusiastic bunch of kids and would-be heroes entered journalism to emulate Woodward. They saw journalism as a means of changing the world through bending and directing facts to suit their political agendas. Those same kids (now grown up) have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams to pervert fact-driven journalism to nothing short of a political cause.
KenC
If reporters like the ones that we have now, had been back in the day of Nixon, there would not have been a Watergate.
We need reporters that will stand up and bring about Obamagate.
mmmm.
Oh, we don’t have that kind of people in this nation anymore.
Woodward became a hero not because of WHAT he did, but WHO he did it to. Liberal Democrat politicians can do REPEATEDLY things any one of which would another’s career. These can range from the criminal to the absurd. Imagine if a Republican Presidential or ANY candidate had a girl get weak — “wait, give her some air….somebody give her a bottle of water” at EIGHT consecutive rallies as if it was an old burlesque routine where a singer pops up in the audience the way Al Jolsen was introduced as a kid. Obama pulled that and it was never mentioned in the press –even on Fox. Clinton was accused of rape by two different women and had another brought to his room by state police, when he proceded to “drop trou”…. result??? He is routinely declared a “political genius”. A republican can — after being misled about a foreign word and its meaning say “makaka” at a rally— career over. Get it?
And can you imagine the 24 hour onslaught if a GOP had done Fast and Furious or how about a GOP who sat at the seat of a racist traitorous pastor (Wright) for 15 years, had an intimate relationship with him and then when called out on it said, “Well I didn’t really understand his message”. THAT was five years ago and if it had been a GOP would have continued to generate slavering coverage in the mainstream even today.
A politician requires the capacity to feel shame to resign. A narcissist like obama is functionally incapable of feeling shame. Had he a conscience, he would have resigned in the first year of his presidency. We are dealing with a sick person.
You are so very right. Your comment says what we all know—”Obama is sick. He thinks he’s a legend in his own mind!! Go Romney, go Romney!!!
Pat Santy writes a blog about human pathologies as applied to individual, cultural, national and international affairs. Here is a recent excerpt from drsanity.blogspot.com.
“[M]any Democrats and certainly most leftists are completely shameless in the sense that they will never ever, for as long as they can possibly get away with it, going to admit to bad behavior. And in those rare cases where they simply cannot wiggle and maneuver and lie and deceive; or self-righteously tell you how wonderful they really are and all the wonderful things they have done; they will simply pretend they are still virtuous and have been victimized in some way.
This is, of course, typical of most narcissists; and without a doubt, narcissists and liars and cheats exist on both sides of the political aisle. But a narcissist in a guilt culture behaves somewhat differently than a narcissist in a shame culture.
If you recall, the other day I commented, while talking about the neo-Marxist economic modus operandi: “Conservatives believe they have better ideas. Leftists believe they are better people.”
Black Politicians who are not members of the Republican Party will be damaged by the publics association with this travesty of a president. The BEST possible outcome for them would be his defeat for another term. This is because the damage he has done to the country will be barely discernable when compared to the disaster — that is NOT an exaggeration, DISASTER — that a second term would be. He has from the beginning assumed that America is the problem in any international situation. He believes that Russia, China and their client states primarily IRAN in the middle east should be the dominant powers worldwide. He was raised by a communist mother who, when her second husband turned out to be pro-western, sent him back to Hawaii where Frank Marshall Davis, communist “intellectual”, became his surrogate father with the connivance of his grandfather. His best friends and longest influences have been Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, Davis, Reverend Wright and on and on… ALL COMMUNISTS. Assuming the country survives, NOT A CERTAINTY, only Republican Black politicians will ever again be acceptable to an American electorate.
moronpolitics
What you say about Americans never trusting black politicians, I pray never becomes a reality. You are implying that we are, are will all become racists with that claim. It is not about skin color, it is pure policy and the obvious destruction of all true American beliefs.
Please do not lump all people into one group, this is what the left does to divide us all a a cohesive America. You know? The one that Obama and his “friends” have pretty much sought to destroy in the last four years.
I am grateful to know that all of my black and hispanic friends are voting for the “Geek Squad” in Romney and Ryan. And if they suck, we will fire their asses too.
FIRE BOYS HIRE THE GEEKS ROMNEY AND RYAN 2012
Actually moron said only Black Republican Politicians will be taken seriously. The diatribe was only aimed at Black Liberal Democrats. Therefore this is not Racist it is in fact rational discrimination between politicians.
Give us all some credit. I can name right off the top of my head 4 different black men who are fully qualified to be President and all of them are Republicans. Everybody running for public office has a chance to say why he wants the job. Vetting every person who wants the job has now become the duty of each and every one of us. We no longer have a Fourth Estate in the MSM but as they say, the truth is out there. Black, white brindle and red must all be vetted and carefully assessed by us. It will be perhaps 2 generations before anyone will believe an American Journalist employed by the MSM. Hacks they are and hacks they will attract.
You make an excellent point. It is just like a rapist- when caught, it is NOT their first offense, usually they have been successful at their crime 90% of the time and the arrest in their first failure – in avoiding getting caught.
And sometimes it isn’t their first time caught- it’s a repeat on same charge – they were Enabled by the System letting off easy on earlier arrest.
JUST like Obama, who is raping our Country and it’s Constitution.
“the most extreme public mishandling of an attack on American personnel ever”
Mmmm. Well, don’t forget the first 2.5 years of the Civil War. I’d vote for the navy’s conduct of the 6-month Guadalcanal campaign too as worse than Bengazi – a horrifying and horrible waste of men until enough admirals survived the experince to develop tactical competence.
Despite the fact that most people seem to think dead American military personnel is just part of the job risks, I think the Beirut Marine bombing, the USS Cole, Blackhawk Down, and the Iranian hostage crisis were worse than Bengazi. All but one of those happened on post-Vietnam Democrats’ watch and two of them were on Boomers’ heads. Boomer Obama personifies the 60s attitudes and is proud of it.
I believe there is something fundamentally flawed in Boomers’ world view such that they are incapable of assessing reality accurately. Perhaps long flirtations with control substances is to blame, perhaps nurture. Whatever it is, it should disqualify Democrats from ever holding either majorities in Congress or the White House.
A lot has been made over the last week that Obama refuses to state his vision for a second term. Charles Kesler sums up what we can expect from a second term clearly. I recommend it to everyone on this site. http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/Iamt
Well, the first part wasn’t in regard to the response to the attack, it was part of the conduct of the war. (I don’t know how “public”; there was lots of censorship. You could go back to George Washington; unfortunately these sorts fo things are endemic to war – but recall, Obama denies that there is a war going on.
Blackhawk Down and similar contemporary actions were the inspiration for Bin Ladin. Of course, it was not only the fault of Clinton’s complete untrustworthiness, but the carping on our side, continually asking for “exit strategies” and so on, that led to Clinton’s backing out.
There is a reason the president can be impeached for “misdemeanors” – that is, general bad conduct, not necessarily criminal. Because of Clinton’s political and private behavior, no-one trusted his military actions, and the result was 9/11.
you are absolutely correct!!! Back when Clinton was in office I kept saying his problems (personal & military) are making us weaker on the world stage…and THAT is what will be a HUGE problem for the USA in the future!! e: It is NOT about sex…..it is about the OFFICE of the presidency and how we are viewed!!!
Having been in the USAF ’93-’97 – you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT on your military assertion.
The sad, running joke when I was in, ‘I didn’t do nor help any country. I served during Bubba’s tenure’.
Considering I was tdy in Moron Spain, Riyadh and ‘Al’s garage’ S A and Tuzla, respectively.
Evacuating U.S. Embassy personnel from Sierra Leone, supporting Op Southern Watch and Bosnian-Herzgovian presence.
Considering so much occurred during Bubba’s watch, in hindsight it’s still VERY frustrating.
I’m not saying the U.S. should have gone in and through John Wayne style but the limp-wristed actions and weak finger wagging Bubba did was pathetic. Even for this ‘Chair Force’ guy.
You’re comparing apples to oranges, at least about the Navy in WWII.
At the policy level, the simple description is that Admiral King sent Admiral Nimitz out to Hawaii with instructions to not return until he’d won the war in the Pacific. The results speak for themselves.
As for the nasty night actions in the Slot, yeah, it took our surface fleet some time to come up to the level of the Japanese in night fighting, but the flip side is that those slug-fests, one of which lost two of our admirals in one night, showed the Japanese their mental model of us and our willingness to wage war was fatally flawed.
‘Scuse the tangent, but…you’re not planning on hitting the Middle East with a Dragon Slave, are you?
Dishonest quoting to begin with, you left of the “certainly in my lifetime” so going back to the civil war area, etc is a dishonest argument. Resign Mr president.
And another thing, Corlis…
The bloody trek the Marines and then the Army took though the Pacific for the first two years of the war was the result of FDR’s decision to basically starve the Pacific theater in order to concentrate on Nazi Germany. So the ‘Canal was fought on a shoestring.
First the Japanese, and then the Germans discovered the American secret weapon in that war, one wich we still wield today. That would be an American 19 year old, trained to military discipline and armed with the best rifle in the world. LGOPs, LGOMs, and LGODFs, moving to the sound of the guns and killing everyone not dressed like them.
Hell hath no fury like a pissed off 19 year old American soldier or Marine.
HoooooooRAH!
The U.S. infantry were good no doubt, but hardly the reason we won the war. The German soldier was superb, but there just werent enough of them. The industrial might of the U.S. was one reason that the Axis lost. The other could be the enormous sacrifice the the Russians made. 10 million troops and 10 million civilions. While the U.S. and allies were fighting approx 90 German divisions in France, the Russians were pushing back 186 German divisions in Russia. George Marshal’s brilliant planning didnt hurt us either.
Condescending pr#*@. The Germans were superb and American infantrymen were good, no doubt. Did you learn that reading in your easy chair or did you serve in combat? FYI German war output was at its peak in 1945 despite Allied bombing. American infantry men are damned good. Then and now. Signed, former heavy weapons infantryman, E-5.
I wasnt trying to be condesending Don. My great Uncle was a Recon Major under Patton. Just trying to balance out the “U.S. G.I. Joe won WWII through pure wits and guts story” I was never told anything growing up about anything except the U.S. won WWII.
We had a little help….
“Amateurs argue strategy and tactics, Professionals plan logistics!”
Soviet Union lost 14.7 million soldiers. The US fielded about that number of servicemen.
Soviet Union lost over a million second lieutenants. Who gets to be a second lieutenant in anyone’s army? Typically a young fit man with better than average education, and an over developed sense of responsibility.
US contribution to the Soviet war effort included thousands of aircraft, 10s of thousands of radios, over 400,000 vehicles (Studabaker is still a Russian word for “Truck”, food to prevent Soviet starvation during the war (Spam is still a Russian word) and European starvation after the war.
In combat the US provided thousands of amphibious landing craft, tying down German defenses all over western Europe even before the landings occured, and 10s of thousands of precision bombers with pilots and weapons, significantly damaging the German ability to produce new generations of weapons, and discouraging the Germans from using weapons like gas that though effective in combat would have been more effective against German civilians.
That is completely aside from the 248 amphibious invasions conducted by the US, some turning into major theatres of operation. Of those amphibious operations, 48 were conducted by the Marines.
NKVD blocking squads gunned down any Russian infantrymen who had the gall to retreat from battle.
Fact.
So the fact that the Russians lost untold millions shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
This is a miracle story in the tradition of the prophets, but it is also a sign of the extension
of the blessings of the kingdom of God beyond the community of Israel to those who
believe. It is a pattern that is developed more extensively in Acts where it is Jews who
first believe at Pentecost, then Samaritans with the mission of Philip, and finally the
Gentiles with Peter and then Paul.
This story is a sign in the context of Jesus’ ministry of the extension of the blessings of
the kingdom of God to everyone. In this story the clear implication is that the blessings of
the kingdom of God are offered to everyone in the world, including those who are our
enemies. So whoever we would identify as an alien or enemy, whether personally or
politically, the blessings of the kingdom of God are offered to them. And they can join on
the basis of their faith rather than their biological or national identity.
This story is a celebration of the kingdom of God. When Jesus asks, “Where are the other
nine?” he’s not talking to the Samaritan leper, he’s talking to the audience. When you tell
the story, direct that question to your audience. They are invited to recognize, in the
faithfulness of the Samaritan and his coming back to give thanks, the signs of true
faithfulness, and thereby to transcend ethnic or national identity as the criterion of
community.
Industrial might wins wars. The Sherman tank was commonly called a “Ronson” by tankers, because they were so inadequately armored, and they went up in flames very quickly. But one of the reasons we won the war is that the Germans ran out of antitank weapons before we ran out of Sherman tanks and crews courageous enough to exhaust the German antitank weapon stockpiles.
While this thread of the conversation is a sidebar, my historical $0.02.
The Sherman was NOT “inadaquately armored”, compared to its contemporary medium tanks (Panzer 3/4, T-34, British Crusader series). In fact when the Sherman debuted in North Africa it stomped all over the Germans. The “Ronson” problem (and it was a problem!) was caused by the way the ammo was stored and the ammount carried. It was worse in the Commonwealth varients (turret bustle storage, not good)and the “line them up hub to hub and advance” Commonwealth tactics. The Sherman continued to improve through the war, getting more armor, wider gun mantlets, bigger guns, and “wet ammo” storage. But it still retained a combat weight of less than 40 tons for the vast majority (only the “Jumbo Sherman” topped 40 tons)of varients, vs 60 for a Tiger I, 50 for a Panther (all varients) and 71! for a Tiger II. Another problem for the Sherman in US formations was the lack of a high performance AT round. US doctrine firmly dictated that Tank Destroyers fought tanks, Tanks supported Infantry. Thus the Sherman had to make do with AP/HE as their only AT option until 1945 when the HVAP rounds FINALLY made it to the tank force from the Tank Destroyer side of the house.
Point. Because it was acting as the logistical base for the majority of of our allies, the majority of the American troops were not in combat. Indeed, the Germans outnumbered the American infantry in Europe, BUT the Allies had the advantage of much better artillery and especially air assets. As for the Soviets, if it hadn’t been for the Soviets Hitler would have been able to go to war in the first place. Where were the Soviets during the attack on Poland – attacking Poland along with the Germans. Where were the Germans during the Battle of France, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands in the west – they were supplying the Germans. Where were the Soviets between June, 1940 and June 1941 – attacking the Baltic states, Finland and supplying the Germans. They got what they deserved.
“As for the Soviets, if it hadn’t been for the Soviets Hitler would have been able to go to war in the first place.”
I assume there is a missing “not” in that sentence, i.e. if it hadn’t been for the Soviets, Hitler would NOT have been able to go to war in the first place.
If my assumption is correct, I must respectfully disagree. The books I’ve read make it clear that Hitler had every intention of attacking Poland even if the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact hadn’t been signed.
In fact, that agreement came together very late in the game. After months of diplomatic manoevering in which Britain and France tried to get the Soviets to enter an alliance with them to safeguard Poland, Stalin decided that Britain and France just weren’t serious. He had some good reason for this as Britain and France had sent their representatives by ship, not air, and then had failed to endow them with sufficient authority to make decisions on their own. It was only in mid-August 1939 that Stalin put out feelers to Hitler to see if he was willing to talk. The agreement came together very quickly and greatly surprised Hitler. He had been preparing for months to attack Poland and had no intention of holding off; the Pact with the Soviets simply made it much safer and easier for him to proceed, knowing that he faced only the Poles. It also gave him time to build up his forces for his inevitable attack on the Soviets in June 1941.
It is a little-known fact that the major reason the Soviets signed the non-aggression pact with Germany is that their alternative was to sign the Molotov-Plunkett-Ernle-Erle-Drax Pact. Also known as Molotov-PEED. In retrospect, can we blame them?
“The other could be the enormous sacrifice the the Russians made. 10 million troops and 10 million civilions.”
Those are the numbers that the Soviets themselves gave out after WW II. But those numbers were reduced significantly to make Stalin look less incompetent than he really was. Contemporary scholars put the number of Soviet losses at 26.5 to 28 million. The reality is that Stalin made a horrible mess of things in the early months of the war. His response to every situation was to demand immediate attacks, regardless of the situation his own troops were in. After millions of his men had been annihilated – or encircled and captured – by the Germans, Zhukov finally persuaded Stalin to build up his forces and equipment until they were ready before they attacked. From that point on, the Soviets started to do better and gradually became a winning army.
No one should belittle the crucial role that the Western Allies (USA and British Commonwealth plus various allies) played. Even the Soviets are generally quick to credit the US for contributions of vehicles and food during the toughest times. But the Soviets DID bear the brunt of the war in terms of human losses; this is beyond question. Some of that is surely because of Stalin’s own incompetence. But over 10 million Soviet troops died in that war versus less than a million among the Western Allies. That is simply a fact.
And after the war, a large number (don’t have the facts at hand but thousands and thousands) of Russian POWs forceably returned (with collusion by the Allies) to the Soviet Union were shot by their own people immediately upon setting foot in the motherland. Their crime? They had seen how good conditions were in the West; even in wartime things were so much better than at home. Stalin did not want news of this to spread. Bang, bang, bang you are dead, and you and you and you. Welcome home and thank you for your service. True.
What do those have to do with civilian response to a military situation?
You think it was marijuana or possibly psychedelics in the 1960′s, but you should consider the powerful prescription drugs that are available today for “depression”. 1 in 10 Americans over 12 are taking antidepressants. Forget about pot. We have a prescription pill epidemic and no one is talking about it.
Well Corlyss, since you put it THAT way……I guess 0′blamer is not THAT badddddd!
But he has execised the bad habit that he’s displayed in the past, SCAPE THAT GOAT!!
Boomer Obama personifies the 60s attitudes and is proud of it. I believe there is something fundamentally flawed in Boomers’ world view such that they are incapable of assessing reality accurately.
Bravo. Talk about it being “time to name our enemy,” Corlyss has just named domestic enemy #1: The ’60s Boomer Generation.
As someone who’s ashamed he’s a member of that generation, and who attended Harvard during the years of campus radicalization, I can attest that it’s the same groups who made college during those years so miserable — e.g., student radicals (such as SDS, the Weather Underground), radical feminists (remember those charming “I am a castrating female” buttons?), professors rewarded with rock star status for their radical (and ocassionally illegal) acts (e.g., Daniel Ellsberg), far-left student “journalists” (just read any Harvard Crimson editorial circa 1972), etc. — who are making life in America miserable now. Indeed, in some cases, it’s the exact same individuals (the names Lawrence O’Donnell, Al Franken, Bill Ayers, Garrett Epps, E.J. Dionne, and Hendrik Hertzberg spring to mind). The big difference is that these people are now older, more powerful, more open about their contempt for religious faith, capitalism, western civilization and America generally, and far more dangerous than they were in their college days.
This may be an extreme view, but I’ve long thought that America won’t even begin to recover from the infantilism spawned by the ’60s until the last member of my generation is either dead or too feeble to do further damage. By my rough calculation, this process will finally start by about the year 2030 — assuming America can last that long.
If I ever write a memoir sounding these themes, at least I already have a title for it: The Worst Generation (apologies to Tom Brokaw).
Thank you for voicing my thoughts with such eloquence and conviction. It is my personal thinking that the 60s ruined this country (the world?), and you have presented evidence for that thinking. You have my whole-hearted appreciation…
“until the last member of my generation is either dead or too feeble to do further damage.”
A little harsh, don’t you think, JPL? I, like many others (and I believe, the majority) of our generation worked hard, served my country, had a successful career, and played by the rules. The more vocal, never matured slackers made all the noise and gravitated to the sewer of politics, and fell under the spell of those who would subvert our great country. I believe that if you examine history, you will find such people in every generation. As a Harvard attendee (which you curiously bring up, do you think that gives you more credibility, did you graduate?), I seriously doubt that you were exposed to the cream of the crop of young Americans in the 60s. Rather than to go on, I’ll just suggest that you speak for yourself. It is extremely arrogant (although it fits the current narrative) to malign an entire generation, and to wish for it’s extinction. Perhaps your generational self hate is but another product of your presence at Harvard.
Yeah, really everybody born between 1946 and 1966 is not the problem. It’s another way to deflect blame from the specific; Barack Obama to the general; the Baby Boomers. Obama is a malignant , incompetent, narcissistic ideologue surrounded by similar persons. His foreign policy clown posse member Samantha Power is not a boomer for example.
I’d like to point out yet again that anyone who was under 14 in 68 is not in any way a “boomer” — it used to be the generation itself defined itself as ending around 54/55. But as they grew older and wanted to be relevant, they started swallowing the next generation.
I was born in 62 and during the “radical years at Harvard” for boomers, and the “Summer of love” (!) and all the dismantling of the culture, I was learning to read and write.
What’s more we aren’t at all like the boomers. We cut our hair and went to work, when we came of age in the 80s. Only the echo boomers among us — and there are a few, the current pres. included — who had boomer parents and were “good boys” who didn’t rebel echo the ethos of the 60s. Most of us born in the early sixties embraced Reagan and want the boomers to shut up already.
The boomers have recognized this, btw, and in their absolutely narcissistic way labeled us the Jones Generation, recently because we supposedly “Jones” for what they have.
No, we don’t. We really don’t. We just want to get your hatred of America out of our system.
And no, it’s not the fault of MOST boomers, who were decent enough people, but the media has created this image. And it’s not even the fault of the boomers who did this sh*t. They were, we now know, victims of Soviet agit prop and infiltration of American cultural entities, from mass media to education, which started well before boomers hit it. That they swallowed it was the result of a mass media spin operation… and one of the reasons we should be glad we have the net.
On the other hand, we DO need to undo much of what the sixties wrought. I actually have no issues with “questioning authority”(and I think it applies to the boomers too) and some of the relaxing of manners is good, and more freedom for the individual is good (And was a reaction to FDR-conformity) but can we get rid of the worship of other cultures, the blackening of American culture, the drive to cultural society and the moral laxity in interpersonal transactions that stems from the Marxist belief that any wealth must have been stolen? Oh, yeah, a re-valuing of hard work and de-valuing of what I’ll call “the lucky b*stard” which seemed to be a sixties ideal, would be good too.
Nah, he’s right about the boomers: that they need to be safely in the ground for a decade before recovery can happen. I’m about the same age as he is — i.e., one of them — and I agree.
And being older than the Boomers, I can back up every sentiment of JPL17 with reason and fury!
The Death Panels are poised to fix the boomer problem. There are so many uintended consequences of Obama’s undergraduate understanding of the world…we really can’t afford to give him another term.
Then who would support you lazy butt? You did say you were the same as Barry so by inference…….
it seems that any disagreement to anything concerning the terrible actions taken that have attacked and weakened basic strengths of our country seem to always be answered with the all encompassing word: HATE
it is a sad endorsement of the lack of patriotism and REAL understanding of the wonderful home we have been so blessed with; and that many seem to want to destroy; and not just externally..
I think Mr Simon was correct; and we see where the old argument of HATE is old; as is the term RACISM…and the divisive actions of class warfare have only angered a free people; wanting to be freed from the whining and impotent government and the leeches that hang on to it’s every resource; as the 60′s generation was apt to do….
As a Harvard attendee (which you curiously bring up, do you think that gives you more credibility…?)
My comment is a critique of Harvard (and by extension, other liberal Ivy League colleges) in the late ’60s + early ’70s. The fact that I actually attended such a school at such a time is somewhat relevant to the topic, don’t you think?
(, did you graduate?)
Not that it matters, but yes, with honors, a senior thesis awarded magna cum laude, and followed by a JD degree with honors at a high-ranking law school.
So if you were guessing that I wrote my comment because I’m a bitter loser, you would be wrong.
I seriously doubt that you were exposed to the cream of the crop of young Americans in the 60s.
Not so. The people I was friendly with in college + law school include people who went on to become famous authors, U.S. Senators, lawyers in the Reagan White House, senior officials in the Bush Administration, presidents of countries (other than the U.S.), commentators on national networks, etc.
NONE of which impresses me, by the way. I just mention it here to demonstrate that you know nothing about me.
Rather than to go on…
Yes, please don’t go on.
…I’ll just suggest that you speak for yourself.
Ooops, you “went on”.
It is extremely arrogant…to wish for [an entire generation's] extinction.
I don’t wish for its extinction. I just predicted that when my generation passes on or is too old to do further damage, the effects of its pernicious philosophy will begin to fade.
Perhaps your generational self hate is but another product of your presence at Harvard.
Well of course it is. I thought I made that clear: i.e., I think many of my peers from that time + place have done a great deal of damage to the country.
“I thought I made that clear: i.e., I think many of my peers from that time + place have done a great deal of damage to the country.” Actually you did not refer to your peers in your comment. Rather, you condemned an entire generation. That is what I am taking issue with. And I never claimed to know anything about you. I was merely reacting to the content and tone of your posting.I will totally agree with you that many of YOUR peers from that time and PLACE have done serious damage to this country. They are not representative of the majority of the good people of my generation whom I have known and worked with. I still do not see what your attendance at Harvard has to do with the subject of your initial comment. All of us who attended college in the sixties were witness to these individuals and to their activities. I am sure that you are a very smart and capable individual. It is disturbing to me that someone of your intelligence (I know, intelligence was actually required to get into Harvard back then) would make such an all encompassing generalization. You claimed to be ashamed of being a member of “that generation”. Really? Why? Did you have some control over the situation? Why be ashamed of when you were born? Do you consider yourself responsible in any way for the actions of others? I cannot get my mind around that type of thinking. I am neither ashamed nor proud of when I was born…I was just born. What I became was the result of my upbringing, the values that were instilled in me, and my own efforts. The same can be said of any individual throughout history. I am responsible for my own actions, and no one else’s, and I resent being demonized for being part of a generation that has become a politically correct punching bag.
Actually you did not refer to your peers in your comment.
Wrong again. Not only did I refer to my peers in my comment, I named them. Lawrence O’Donnell, Al Franken, Garrett Epps, E.J. Dionne, and Hendrik Hertzberg were all students at Harvard at or around the time I attended. I knew most of them. They are my peers. I named them. Your comment is foolish.
I resent being demonized for being part of a generation that has become a politically correct punching bag.
Why do you assume I demonized you? Are you Lawrence O’Donnell? Or Al Franken? Or E.J. Dionne? Or were you a member of SDS, or the Weather Underground, or a radical feminist who wore an “I am a castrating female” button? Those are the only people I demonized in my comment. If you’re not one of them, then I’m not referring to you.
I still do not see what your attendance at Harvard has to do with the subject of your initial comment.
Look, if you don’t see what 2 + 2 has to do with 4, then that’s your problem, not mine.
I agree with you wholeheartedly re: the Boomer Generation. Unfortunately, they have spawned an apathetic generation (of which I am part of) that thus far has not demonstrated a desire understand the country’s history or an ability to think critically about the issues facing it.
Some of us spent those halcyon days in Khe Sanh and the A Shau valley while others quietly built their families and their lives so don’t blame us for the excesses and stupidity of elites and communist sympathizers .
Yup….
I was a little young for that show…but as my Company Gunny used to say:
“Woodstock? The Only Wood Stock I remember was on my M-14″
M-14 I also have nothing but fond thoughts I hope that sgt is still around.
You get no argument from me, trangbang68. The problem with the Boomer Generation is its other half — i.e., the half that took a far left turn in the late ’60s + early ’70s and never turned back.
Don’t forget Dr. Timothy Wierdy.
And no need to apologize to Brokaw. He’s an immoral collectivist enabler.
JPL I’m in the tail end of the boomers, born 1961, and I tend to agree with you that the hippies of then are in charge now and that this craziness might never end until every last one of them is gone. I don’t know how I escaped, formerly being one of them, except that maybe my mom instilled some morals and ethics in me that somehow made me finally wake up to the liberal nonsense when I was in my late thirties / early forties. So I have a tiny bit of hope that maybe a few of these people can snap out of their liberal insanity. Where I disagree with you is that these same people have instilled their beliefs into the organizations that will shape our future – our k12 schools and our entertainment (at least liberal news media is getting exposed and falling apart so we have a chance there). I’m afraid we will continue to churn out liberal drones far longer than it takes for the last original hippie to die out.
Where I disagree with you is that…I’m afraid [that thanks to our k12 schools, entertainment and liberal news media] we will continue to churn out liberal drones far longer than it takes for the last original hippie to die out.
Sally, I actually agree with you on that point. As noted, I think society’s recovery process will start when the ’60s Boomer Generation is too feeble or small to do wield much power. The recovery itself, however, will take a long time after that — probably at least a generation. (And of course, that assumes America as we know it survives that long.)
Those of us born on the cusp (IE: 1941) always thought that the Boomers were just a little bit too full of themselves; and now, they’ve come “a crapper”.
“This may be an extreme view, but I’ve long thought that America won’t even begin to recover from the infantilism spawned by the ’60s until the last member of my generation is either dead or too feeble to do further damage.”
My sentiments as well despite the fact that I am a Boomer. I’m anomalous. I opposed the war in Vietnam because it wasn’t being fought like it was as important as administrations claimed it was. I’m opposed in principle to fighting wars just enough to get a lot of brave young Americans killed and then deciding the whole thing is too messy or too inconvenient or too threatening to re-election chances to prosecute to victory. With the possible exception of Gulf I, we have tended to fight every war since WW2 like that. We should be either all in or all out, which would discipline our over-reliance on the military to salvage failed policies.
Boy do I agree with that assessment. I went to Berkeley during the riots majoring in nuclear physics. Late 60′s We were told to never get near the riots lest we never be able to work. Those people refused to work and fled to teaching in all grades. They systematically brainwashed and dumbed down the kids with stupid programs like whole language. Ask any theacher why they like whole language and the answer is always it is easy to teach..Then they infiltrated the media and systematically distorted all the values and searching for truth in exchange for selling their agends. This of course while the rest of us worked away until it was tooooo late. If OBOMBA is reelected it is the end..Reminds me of a Doors song.
Geeze, JPL17, don’t wish us dead so fast. I am a boomer (1946), an athiest and, believe it or not, very conservative in my political and fiscal views. I was once a liberal who did not appreciate Reagan conservatism until much later. My still very liberal cousin recently asked, “You used to be so liberal. What happened?”. My answer was that I grew up. Yes. Some of us grew up and are trying to fight the scurge brought upon us by those who didn’t.
Wait, are you trying to compare the death of an ambassador and his IT staff to that of military mishaps?? That’s what makes this so much more agregious is its non-military American civilians murdered in cold blood at the incompetent hands of Obama.
Al Queda’s strategy is similar to that of 1900s anarchists. It is information war, disguised as guerilla war. They want someone to pay attention to them, and for them, violation of the law of nations is a feature that assures them coverage.
The duty to secure ambassadors falls first on the foreign nation to which the ambassador is dispatched. The purpose of Marines is to delay any attack until classified information can be destroyed, and until the host nation can restore order. If a country can not protect a US embassy, then you don’t send an ambassador.
The failure to secure the ambassador in which the Obama administration failed is the failure to respond to the ambassador and local intelligence which correctly recognized that the consulate was not secure, and could not be secured, and so the ambassador and his staff should have been withdrawn until that changed.
The failure of the response to killing the ambassador included the bogus emphasis on the video, the failure to describe it as terrorism and the outright lying about the cause.
Have we all forgotten Pearl Harbor itself, and the scapegoating of the Army and Navy commanders?
“Scapegoats”? Gen. Short and Adm. Kimmel were on clear notice the something was going to happen somewhere. Both were guilty of failing to provide more and better air surveillance and surface survellance. The failure to appreciate radar is well known, but just part of a pattern of neglect.
Gen Short lines up the aircraft wingtip to wingtip and doubled the guards.
Adm Kimmel brought most of the ships into Pearl Harbor where it was widely agreed that the harbor was too shallow for air launched torpedoes to be used, and still got the first shots off against the Japanese (sinking a Japanese submarine in the military exclusion zone outside Pear Harbor, and another ‘mini’ inside Pearl Harbor).
It wasn’t that they didn’t do anything. What they did was wrong for the attack they got. The Japanese intentionally designed their attack to be wrong for the usual reactions.
AFTER they received a war warning, their was no excuse for Kimmel and Short not having at least patrol planes out. Not being prepared, in some way, was simply dereliction of duty.
General MacArthur was responsible for the surprise attack by the Japanes in the Philippines. Short and Kimmel, as well as President Roosevelt, were responsible for the surpirse attack on Pearl Harbor.
Unlike President Obama, President Roosevelt didn’t spend two weeks apologizing to the Japanese for the “provocative” “yellow peril” movies which “provoked” the attack.
Corlyss: Please do NOT lump ALL Baby Boomers into the same catagory as Liberal Democrats. Substance abuse had nothing to do with our political outlooks. In fact, there’s far more abuse of controlled substances today than during our college years.
Many of us are actively working for Romney as we know how much damage B.O. is doing to our country. The wisdom comment of the day is this:
“Do NOT lump everyone into the same catagory nor matter what subject one is discussing.”
” Boomer Obama personifies the 60s attitudes and is proud of it.
I believe there is something fundamentally flawed in Boomers’ world view such that they are incapable of assessing reality accurately.”
Bullshit!
Comrade Obama (b. 1961) is barely a ‘Boomer (b. 1946 – ’64) and experientially is barely an American. Comrade Obama, whose surname should probably be Davis, is a Red Diaper Baby who got his communism from his mother’s milk. He spent his youth in Indonesia in the company of a socialist/communist surrogate father and his communist mother living largely as a Muslim. He then lived in Hawaii, very, very far from the US cultural mainstream in the ’70s, raised by his Red grandparents with Frank Marshall Davis as his “mentor.” Someday, maybe, we’ll know how he got into elite schools, who paid for his education, what nationality he claimed as a student, and what grades he made. We may learn how he connected with the Ayers family in Chicago, what his real ties to the open communist Bill Ayers were and are, how he got his adjunct instructor job, how his marriage with Moochelle was arranged, and just how he became a made-man of the Chicago thugocracy, but none of those things describe a ‘Boomer or are related to the date of his birth.
I don’t know where you were or even if you were in the ’60s, but my presence in the classrooms of a small Southern state school beginning in ’67 isn’t what turned my mostly considerably older professors and instructors in to liberals and Marxists; they were that way when I got there! The only ‘Boomers that could have been at Berkeley to participate in the “Free Speech Movement,” the beginnings of so-called ’60s radicalism, in ’64 – ’65 would have been 18 yr. old freshmen; the leaders were born in the ’30s and early ’40s, likewise, the leaders at the ’68 Democratic Convention riots weren’t ‘Boomers, they too were born in the ’30s and early ’40s, one even in the ’20s IRRC, and even the “guy in the neighborhood,” Bill Ayers, onetime head of The Weathermen and a known terrorist, isn’t a ‘Boomer (b. 1944).
The Left, much of it under Comintern guidance, had a firm grip on US academia by the ’30s and dominated academia and the media by the ’50s. Comrade Obama and Bill Clinton’s attitudes are from a communist upbringing in Obama’s case and from his exposure to Ivy League leftism in Clinton’s case; he has yet to explain his sojourn in the Soviet Bloc and it wasn’t for nothing that HRC wrote her thesis on Saul Alinsky.
Young people who entered most colleges from the mid-’60s onward walked into a hotbed of Leftist and open communist influence both from the professoriat and from older students. You learned quickly that liberalism/marxism, even open communism, was what all the smart people thought. Leftist influence over that age cohort was aided an abetted by a left-leaning media’s oppostion to the Vietnam war, an opposition it was encourageing in the population by slanted reporting, and by opposition to the draft. Opposition to conscription is not unique to the Vietnam war nor to the young men of the ’60s and early ’70s; there was significant opposition in both the North and South in the Civil War, major opposition during WWI, significant leftist opposition in WWII until the invasion of the USSR and even significant numbers of conscientious objectors after the Left began demanding a “Second Front Now.” What was unique to the Vietnam Era was the extent to which institutions were encouraging opposition to the War and to the draft. By the way, ‘Boomers weren’t running those institutions.
If you went to college in the ’60s and adopted the leftist views of your professors and the older students, if you went straight to work in government, e.g., Bill and Hill, academia, media/entertainment, or the left-leaning non-profits/interest groups, you could keep the same dumbass ideas you had smoking dope in a college dorm in 1969. If you went out into private employment in the early ’70s you entered a world of high unemployment, stagnant and for a time even frozen wages, tight credit, dizzying inflation, and astronomical interest rates – my first homeloan in the mid-’70s was a bargain at only 12% with a 10% down. In other words, you very very quickly mugged by reality.
The first Presidential Election that any significant number of ‘Boomers could vote in was ’72 and Nixon won in a landslide. The first election that all ‘Boomers could vote in was ’84 and Reagan won in a landslide. GWB (b. 1946) is a ‘Boomer and some of us must have voted for him – twice. Mitt Romney is also a ‘Boomer (b. 1947)and you’d best hope some of us will vote for him too. But in any event, you can hate us and blame us all you want, you’re still going to work for companies or institutions that we own and/or run and use things we created for quite a while yet.
Great post!
Let me just add that the sudden animosity against ‘Boomers’ has only come to the fore because people realise that paying for their medical needs and for their retirement might cost too much, seeing that so many now need to depend on state handouts, like Obama phones.
Thus the Left is happy to incite a generational war, rather than get the non-Boomer generations into work so they can pay for themselves.
No. Sorry. Those of us born in the sixties have always loathed the “boomers” we came in contact with — usually our teachers at first, later our bosses. The ones I came in contact with ran 5 to 1 “stereotypical boomer” — talking about “hating the man” while being more tyrannical than any other teacher or boss, and hating western civilization with a passion and also often working to bring it down.
Before they started padding their generation with ours, (to make themselves relevant?) they used to put us down. I spent most of the eighties listening to boomers telling me I was not “socially conscious” and I was also “selfish” while I was trying to make my way in a job market they’d finally entered after their long wilding, and while I was TOO socially conscious — I hated communism. But that wasn’t “socially conscious” to them. That was, somehow, bizarrely (since by that time they gave preference to people my age who were extreme left) proof of my “selfishness”.
In fact, get a bunch of people born in the sixties, early seventies together, mention the word “boomer” (or call the older of us “boomers”) and then stand back for the explosion. As I explained above, it’s not QUITE the boomers’ fault, but a lot of us had had enough LONG before thinking of medical care or retirement.
Born in 1947 . . . my maternal grandparents were Mensheviks . . . (paternal grandparents were too busy surviving) . . . collectivist/pacifist leftism was already a well-established religion when I came along; it just had not yet spread.
The early boomer generation was repulsed by -1- the continuing injustices done to black people [Jackie Robinson debuted at the major league level a week after I was born], and rightly so; and -2- the ongoing idiocy of what was then ultimately characterized as a war of attrition [not a war to be won and done with], also rightly so.
The fatal flaw was in running to the church of said collectivist/pacifist leftism for aid and comfort, which rapidly became for many indoctrination. It ^didn’t^ work on me and for a few of my contemporaneous comrades (so to speak). But for far too many, it did.
Yes, we’ll be paying the price for along time — but the seed had already been sown and was already sprouting when I and my generation came along.
Sing it, sister! I was born in ’64 and I really really dislike getting called a Boomer.
Of course, I ain’t Gen X either.
Hear, Hear!! Excellent post!
Excellent comment! It is not IF you were born in the sixties, IT IS how old you were in the sixties.
What drives me insane is Obama supposedly fights racial injustice and all that while never having spent a second being discriminated against. Quite the contrary. He got where he is today because of his race. Our first affirmative action president. And look where it’s gotten us. There’s never been a better example for the end to affirmative action.
“Comrade Obama (b. 1961)”
Prove it!
Comrade Obama is an extremely early echo-boomer. His mom was a boomer, with boomer attitudes. The more typical members of the generation were born in the 80s and the last year was the year my older son was born, 91. So I know the breed well, mostly from my son coming home and saying “ARGH”
They are FAR worse than the bad boomers. They accepted the attitudes of their parents as “received wisdom” and most of them are in fact to far indoctrinated to THINK. Which is why president “reset button” lacks a reset button. When things fail, he just doubles down. He wasn’t reasoned into these attitudes, he was RAISED into them. So he can’t reason his way out of them. It’s like someone who grew up in a cult.
Ann Dunham (b. 1942) wasn’t a ‘Boomer either chronologically or experientially. The vast majority of early ‘Boomers, and especially the vast majority of those that some of you so love to hate, say, those born before ’55, had childhoods right out of the American Dream; a father who could provide a middle or better class living, a mother who could stay at home, divorce was rare, teen pregnancy quite rare, teen sex in fact quite rare, a burgeoning consumer society and technological progress that provided new “toys” and the money to buy them, and growing up in the same neighborhood and graduating with the same kids you started school with was still quite common – The Beach Boys’ “Endless Summer” was very real for lots of Americans approaching adulthood in the mid-’60s.
Stanley Ann Dunham had only the two parents and a middle-class standard of living part of that. Her parents were undoubtedly either card-carrying communists or close and trusted fellow travellers. Her father moved the family to CA, where he attended Berkeley, after WWII then back to KS, then to Seattle and ultimately to Honolulu shortly after she graduated from high-school. Those sorts of moves were not common in the ’40s and ’50s and picking up stakes and moving to Hawaii would be quite an adventure, and an expensive one, even today. Interestingly, and not coincidentally, Seattle and Honolulu were almost chattel of the West Coast Longshoremen led by openly communist Harry Bridges, last seen with his comrades on the Kremlin Balcony. In SEA they lived in the neighborhood of the Little Red Church, noted as a leftist haven, and where as a high-schooler, Ms. Dunham, then called Stanley, was known as adventurous and “progressive.” In 1960 – 61, families still had almost absolute control over their adolescent children, particularly adolescent girls. Ms. Dunham’s liason with and impregnation by a Black man would have been unthinkable to most white Americans at that time. Legends notwithstanding, abortions were easy enough to get from “family doctors” if families wanted one and Hawaii was quite liberal on such matters. Even if not aborted, the girl would have been sent away to “visit an aunt in Montana” or some such and the child given up for adoption. The child was likely spawned by family friend Frank Marshall Davis and the whole Obama thing was a legend to avoid the child being known to be the scion of a card-carrying communist. Like his birth certificate, marriage documentation is scarce and controversial.
In any event, Ms. Obama nee Dunham’s life was nothing like the stable, almost idyllic lives of most early ‘Boomers before all Hell broke loose in the late ’60s on college campii and in the cities. As I said in the original post, Comrade Obama is barely a ‘Boomer chronologically and experientially isn’t one at all nor the child of one.
Excellent post!!! I too woke up in my late 20′s to the realities and liking what I saw from the other side. As I read your post I couldn’t help but think of the heavy influences that existed with professors, activists, protestors, etc. Well done!!!
That flaw is that Obama’s world view is decidedly Islamist. Since he can’t sell an Islamist caliphate in the USA(so far), he sells the medicine of their greatest temporary ally in the world(Communism). We have a monster on our hands and we had better get rid of him and his Communist allies in our government as soon as possible, so we can focus on our real enemy again. ABO2012
I would argue that during your lifetime the 1967 attack on the USS Liberty was perhaps the worst mishandling of an attack on U.S. military forces. It was covered up, the victims were under direct orders to not disclose facts that only decades later came out. There were reasons and rationales for all of that, but the fact is that the attack occurred.
Agreed: Obama and Co. should resign. Listening to Joe Klein on the weekend TV saying how the Obama administration’s foreign policy had been largely successful was enough to make a sane person puke. Success is measured by goals achieved; if the goals were to tick off our traditional allies and to kiss up to terrorists in the Islamist world, and to let Russia, North Korea, and Iran have their way, then “success” of a type it has been.
Corlyss,
I am in agreement with your post with one caveat – as for being “the worst” mishandling – the verdict is still out as I am convinced we do not know at all the details and extent of the tragedy in Benghazi. There are 8 hours of action where even the location of the ambassador was completely unknown. Shameful.
As for history, the list is certainly longer as I am sure you are aware. I’m a student of military history and appreciate you providing some context for thought. This is seldom done and very necessary. Thank you.
Barack Obama is the CHILD of a boomer – boomers made bad parents and produced such confused and angry children. I and my husband ARE boomers (60s) who did not smoke the weed at Columbia and Penn – but we look at our peers ashamed and try to persuade our peers to grow up at last and vote conservative. The late 60s changed our nation in profound ways – but we CAN bring it back.

re: I believe there is something fundamentally flawed in Boomers’ world view such that they are incapable of assessing reality accurately.
The Boomers encouraged “value free education” and “political correctness.” The ideas of “right and wrong,” “good and evil” went out of fashion, and what is left is muddy thinking and an inability to acknowledge there is any such thing as “truth.” It was a grand experiment. It failed. Time for the pendulum to swing back to the basics.
Barack Obama a “Baby Boomer”?
Only on paper, because of the purported date of his birth.
But he didn’t have to face Viet Nam, the draft and face and/or participate in all the madness of the 1960s and 1970s.
That he exhibits his fossilized Marxist/Socialist ideology and hatred of America simply means he learned well.
He’s derivative, not original.
Boomer Obama personifies the 60s attitudes and is proud of it.
Um, no. The radicals of the 1960s were not typical of their (my) generation. The “entitled” attitudes and postcolonialism as a mainstream attitude, as seen in today’s MSM, came later. The boomers were already formed by then, late 1970s, and pretty much out of college. Obama was born (sic) in 1961, turned 18 around 1979, well past any boomer period.
Guadalcanal was not necessarily command’s fault. All our armed forces weren’t really ready to fight. We just lost a aircraft carrier in the Coral Sea. Our navy wasn’t ready to really fight the Japanese yet. They went to Guadalcanal thinking that they would just roll right over the the Japanese. Instead, one Japanese cruiser sank two American cruisers in one night action. The whole battle lasted just minutes and we were handed the biggests losses since Pearl Harbor. The navy and marines learned to fight and fight well at Guadalcanal. Their equipment at best was second rate, fighter aircraft that couldn’t hold against the Japanese Zeros or rifles for the marines from WWI. Still they held. It was absolutely heroic. What came out of there was a lean tough fighting force that served us well throughout the Pacific.
Question for all you right-wingnuts: Did all of you go to the same grade school? Because, when I went to grade school, 50-odd years ago, kids were using that name-calling technique as though it were the biggest and best insult ever in the history of the world. However, after about sixth grade, they realized just how juvenile and stupid all that name-calling was, and they gave it up.
Of course, some of them went on to physical bullying. Whatever the reason, it appears right wingers can only come up with one- or two-syllable words, name-calling and lies and innuendo.
One would think the brain trust on this site held the answers to all the world’s problems. If so, why don’t some of YOU run for office and fix everything?????
To knowingly lie standing beside the caskets . . .
To knowingly take advantage of the moderator’s mistake to cement the lie in front of tens of millions . . .
The mind would boggle . . . but this President emptied out my last boggle when I heard him say, in his best phony accent, “Whez yo Staffudh dolluh?”
B.O. does not like or does he use gerunds-except when…………no wait! I can’t think of a time he DID use them. So much for a Haaaaarrrrrvvvard education.
Oh well! I can & do use them especially on Nov. 6th., 2012 as I work for Romney as a Poll Watcher.
It is impossible to quantify the inestimable extent of the Islamist-in-Chief’s PURPOSEFUL mishandling of American foreign policy, particularly in relation to the Middle East.
Hail to the Pyromaniac-in-Chief.
Of course, his so called missteps are akin to a Columbia U junior, and one who is stoned to the gills. However, the Anti-American-in-Chief is fully in sync with said interpretations, as per the need to deconstruct America’s status on the world stage.
Thus, he is incapable of naming the enemy – Islamic political/religious ideology; the fuel to which jihad is being waged all over the world, and on behalf of Allah. Its end goal is to implant a Caliphate ruled under Shariah. It’s not that difficult a concept!
So, the above is precisely why he tasks (over a several month period) his chief alter ego – some might suggest, his handler of sorts – Valerie Jarrett, who is leading the charge in jaw-jaw, as she confabs behind the backs of Americans & Israelis, assuring Iran’s Supreme Leader of The One’s plans.
In other words, if they agree to a ‘temporary’ halt to enrichment BEFORE the election, the POTUS will reward them with the ability to enrich for ‘peaceful’ purposes, and will dismantle the sanctions too, the same sanctions he tried every which way to water down!
In others words, since we all know that the Liar-in-Chief will surely not resign, how about Romney holding his feet really to fire, and via Jarrett’s pathway -http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/10/19/is-a-deal-being-cut-with-irans-hitlerite-regime-to-save-the-islamist-in-chiefs-electoral-prospects-smokin-the-free-world-in-the-process-commentary-by-adina-kutnicki/
It surely will speed things along…to his removal!
Adina – so good to hear from you. I haven’t seen your comments lately on AT. I agree that we are chained to an evil man (and Jarrett) right now. Please pray for us that 2 weeks from tomorrow our election is not stolen from us. We continually pray for Israel. Unless something happens quickly after Romney is elected I don’t know if the genie can be stuffed back in the bottle that is the Mid-East fire. BTW – I thought he was stoned at the last debate. I listened a while on radio in the beginning and wondered what was the matter with him – talking fast and high. You are so right about the 60′s generation.
People need to understand something about unranium enrichment. Natural uranium is about 0.75% U235. What’s needed for a safe light water reactor is about 4%. What’s needed for a bomb is over 90%. The reason to enrich to 20% is than you’re on the way to 90%. IOW, they’ve already gone well past the concentration needed for power generation. There is no legitimate peaceful use for 20%. They’ve already gone past the point of credibly claiming that it’s for power generation.
Perhaps the best “foreign policy debate” possible would be: “just what the heck was going on in Benghazi where you left an ambassador high and dry in difficult circumstances and let him die while you watched in real time? Seriously. Just respond. I yield my time.”
But he didn’t “watch in real time”, he was asleep; he had to get ready to leave for Las Vegas the next day.

As long as we’re dreaming, Mitt could ask, “Why did you cover for the lynching of a gay man? I guess the days of Boys Don’t Cry aren’t over in your administration.”
Well, not Mitt (I know the question is silly), but someone.
The young woman in Boys Don’t Cry was not lynched. Such hyperbole demeans other victims of similar crimes who lack the activist cachet to be named hate victims.
She was murdered. Drug dealing was a factor, as it is in several of these Hollywood-annointed crimes. The rape was like any other rape, in other words despicable, but not more despicable because she dressed like a boy (irony of ironies because she was cognizant of the risks women face). This prejudiced privileging of some human lives over others, by the filmmakers and activists, is the only trace of the lynching era in the entire tragic story. Others at the murder scene not cross-dressing were murdered too.
Her offenders were punished. Not lynching.
Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman are the closest to lynching victims we have had in recent generations. Obama recently made a truly appalling joke about their deaths. I wonder why that got no notice.
Errr, but one of the issues is that Obama went to bed after being informed of the start of the attack….
But, yes, his policies and the people he appointed resulted in roughly what you said, but he and the MSM could care less, a mere not optimal bump in the road.
Fabulous!
“Mr. President, can you explain why Sean Smith’s mother has any less ‘absolute moral authority’ than Cindy Sheehan?”
Why was there no rescue? There was time and there were assets that could have been deployed.
But he survived Fast and Furious. The press covers up, and nobody notices.
Yes, David Brooks (Eddie Haskell) on PBS said (paraphrasing) the Republicans will try to trot out this story again in the last debate, but it’s over and they will be wasting their time. (It’s all semantics anyway) The liberal media has buried and will continue to bury the story and all who haven’t heard of it will continue to be willfully ignorant.
If Romney covers it in the debate tonight as forcefully as he covered the auto-bailout (Saving GM) then … he will lose even more votes in Ohio.
I’ve seen that if it’s been discussed on AM Radio or Fox News (atop the screaming fair-and-balanced liberals) then Romney will not say it.
Fast & Furious is NOT over. Just ask Univision. And we’ll also ask Mitt Romney’s new Attorney General to look into it.
He won’t resign, but neither does he really want to win either.
With such a disastrous first term, can you imagine the calamity a second term would be?
Obama has nothing…absolutely nothing…to gain from occupying the Oval Office for the next four years, especially when the “Blame Bush” mime’s sell-by date expired two years ago.
Don’t you understand that Obama is in this for the money, and ONLY the money?
When he loses, he gets to keep his greater than half a billion dollar campaign fund, (this while Wasserman-Schulz’s DOC is borrowing 15 million from the Union Legbreakers’ Bank).
Obama is nothing more than what he has all along been: a money-grubbing Chicago Machine politician with a line of Blarney that mesmerizes and captivates the dullards.
I concur. His ego and the wooky would never let him resign. His behavoir gives away that he knows he’s going to lose– question is how big. I still would like to know who his handlers are, but it could be even he doesn’t really know nor cares. He got his.
“When he loses, he gets to keep his greater than half a billion dollar campaign fund..”
Most people do not know that. After everything he and the democrats have already stolen, whats $.5 billion more?
If he has that much cash, why is he borrowing $15M from BankOfAmerica?
http://freebeacon.com/obama-campaign-borrows-15m-from-bank-of-america/
I know you are trying to be nice to them, but I think that is “wookie.”
I don’t think he’s allowed to keep unused campaign money for personal use, is he?
“According to the FEC, if a candidate for federal office (a presidential hopeful, say) loses and is a congressperson, he or she can roll over unused money into a re-election kitty. They can also repay themselves for personal funds used during the campaign up to a certain amount, depending on the race and when those funds were used. They can contribute the dollars to a charity. Candidates may also return money to contributors, but determining who gets how much is a delicate operation avoided by most, if not all, candidates.”
http://blogs.wsj.com/wallet/2008/11/04/what-happens-to-leftover-campaign-money/
I’m sure a little monitoring and digging would reveal the kickbacks.
This has always been part of the plan. Obama and the Mrs only are available to raise money. He doesn’t share with the DNC, Congressional re-election committees, state parties, or anyone. All funds are his and his only. He told Democrats at every level that they were on their own in 2009. The 2010 election meltdown of Democrats was partially because he doesn’t share and Democratic candidates were broke. I have never seen the like. He will probably take everything in his re-election war chest, donate it to a bunch of phony education, civil rights or political action shell organizations, pay himself and the Mrs a couple of million a year for doing nothing. This is what they do and what he did in Chicago. He will leave the DNC owing millions, take his stash to Hawaii and live like a king for as long as the dough lasts. It is a scam and he will bust the Democratic party. So long suckers.
Well in all fairness in 2010 most democratic candidates not in deep deep blue districts were scrambling to get as far away from Obama and especially obamacare as possible, they probably didn’t want any active support from him although they would’ve been happy if He’d slipped them money. I think he really wants to win this election so that he can spend the next 4 years golfing, hanging out with celebrities, and flying around on the taxpayer’s dime while signing executive orders that slowly destroy the country. Taking his millions and running to his mansion in Hawaii is a fine backup plan, but plenty of time for that later.
“and is a congressperson”
Obama’s not a congressperson. Theoretically, he either gives it back to the donors or gives it to the party. Note I say “theoretically.” I bet he shafts the DNC on the way out.
Here’s the deal: they create a charity with the money and then pay themselves a handsome sum to administer it.
Actually giving the money back could prove problematic. How could he return the credit card contributions of “Daffy Duck” or “Mickey Mouse?”
How are these rules affected by the fact that neither candidate has accepted PUBLIC FUNDING? 2008 was the first time one candidate one candidate didn’t accept public funding and he won, so the question never arose. Now what, neither candidate took public funding and one has to lose.
Upon retirement O will become fodder for the paparazzi. He will be haunted everyday of his sad little life. Money will not protect him and being on an island far away will not protect him.
His daughters will be crack heads just like him in 10 years.
Moo will get fat and wallow in her own bitterness to decades.
Money is not everything
I am very, very sorry for the girls. They never asked to be born to a pair of immoral leeches; they never asked to spend their formative years steeped in Marxism; and they never asked to grow up in the White House fishbowl.
My prayer for them is that they reject their parents’ philosophy as firmly as William J. Murray rejected the atheism of his mother, Madalyn Murray O’Hair.
I feel very, very sorry for the girls. They never asked to be born to a pair of immoral leeches; they never asked to spend their formative years steeped in Marxism; and they never asked to grow up in the White House fishbowl.
My prayer for them is that they reject their parents’ philosophy as firmly as pastor William J. Murray rejected the atheism of his mother, Madalyn Murray O’Hair.
[reposting this without the Wikipedia links to William Murray and Madalyn Murray O'Hair, since they have caused my post to get stuck in moderation limbo]
Remember the Clinton Presidential Memorial in Little Rock. That became Bubba’s slush fund after he left office.
Middle Eastern despots pumped over 25 million into it after Bubba left office. Bubba still gets million dollar honariums for 30 minute addresses in the Middle East, attended by no one.
So, obama’s campaign funds may not be available for his personal use in a direct fashion, but you may rest assured that he has laid the groundwork for a very prosperous future of book deals and speeches.
Don’t worry. Michelle will be able to take very nice vacations for the rest of her life.
Dude. Srsly. What’s the law got to do with what Teh Won can do?
Some sage once said “it’s good to be the king”.
Bilgeman, You are refreshingly honest. The O’s will move to Hawaii in Jan. 2014 where a grotesquely lavish lifestyle awaits them. The cruel joke which has been these past four years is about to end, God willing.
Jan. 2013*
No way Obama moves to Hawaii. He never liked it here in the first place. That is all propaganda. Seeing him in the ocean makes it is absolutley clear that he is not a water person. I think the whole time he was a kid in Hawaii was spent getting high. No way Michelle likes it in Hawaii. They will retire to Chicago, and live well within the fellow Alinskyites.
No way that Hussein Obozo will resign. He will use every trick in the book and then some to try and get re-elected. If he wins, America will be devastated by 2016. Its upto the American public to come out in number and VOTE HUSSEIN OUT.
No, you’re wrong–he wants to win. It’s just that he came to realize after the first debate that the American people want more than good looks and platitude speeches, which is all he’s got. Figuring out how to deliver more at this late date is, well . . . a little complicated given that his record is one of dismal failure. That said, however, if he does win without giving a specific agenda/plan, he will use that victory as a referendum to do ANYTHING he wants to do–and this great country (albeit it weakened under Obama) will not survive. He will give it to the UN.
(Alleged) beauty is only skin deep. Evil is SOUL deep.
Oh, he wants to win, all right, so badly he can taste it. The fact that his performance doesn’t look like it to the rest of is is telling.
You see, he does not consider his first term a failure. He sees rather that he has Done All The Right Things, and that the failure has been ours. We have “failed” to do as we were told; we have “failed” to sacrifice enough for his vision. And most of all, we have “failed” to see the world as he sees it.
It is this last “failure” of ours that aggrieves him the most. Because it means (to him) that we have not accepted His True Magnificence. No narcissist (which Obama is) can tolerate such lese-majeste’ from “the Great Unwashed”.
Also, this is the first time in his life that he actually has faced a real challenge for something he wants. He deeply resents the fact that Romney, or anyone else, is daring to run against him. Not just because of his warped views of the relative virtues of cultures (Eastern; all conceivable virtues, Western; zero), but because he sees it as a studied insult to him, personally. Romney and everyone who supports him are challenging The Most Perfect Lightworker/Messiah Person Who Ever Lived- himself.
His ego just can’t stand it.
As to why he’s campaigning in such a hamfisted, overbearing, and ultimately insulting-bordering-on-incompetent manner; it’s all he knows. He’s used to getting his way just be being who and what he is. And being able to vilify and/or destroy anyone who opposes him- with the help of true-believers from the “enlightened elite’”, all of whom think as he does. According to him, anyway.
I expect his performance in tonight’s debate to be like the first one. The audience is not allowed to cheer him on, he has no “dumb-johns” in the audience to feed him questions he wants to answer- and he has no teleprompter to help him when he gets stuck. In this sort of environment, he becomes confused, and then petulant and angry. He considers it beneath his dignity to have to show up, into the bargain.
I anticipate that if Romney presses him on Benghazi, Fast & Furious (which is a “foreign policy” issue- arming insurgents in a friendly country is an act of war), Iran, or that “private moment” with Putin- he will become very angry, and lash out at Romney. I do not consider it impossible that he will stalk off the stage in a huff, because he defines any such questions as an affront to his dignity. This is a man who does not deal well with, not only adversity, but even with people not worshiping him.
A meltdown like that would probably finish his chances for re-election, although his true believers would cheer. But ultimately, that latter is all that matters to him.
That, and the perfection he sees when he looks in a mirror. This is a man who lives in his own fantasy universe, where only he matters.
If, in the Beatles’ movie Yellow Submarine, Jeremy Hilary Boob had been the Chief Blue Meanie, I think he’d have been a lot like Obama. A “Nowhere Man” with a “point of view”; one that bears no similarity to the real world.
And who is willing to hurt anyone who dares to point this out to him.
clear ether
eon
eon, A big BINGO to you! I would love to see him have a tantrum and meltdown right before our eyes. We can only hope! Romney must press him hard on the events at Benghazi, the bowing, and Fast and Furious. Romney also needs to tell Bob Schieffer to shut the hell up if he gets out of line. It’s time for Conservatives to take the gloves off!
Excellent and very accurate description of Obama, a pathological narcissist.
Eon, you must have been reading Bill Clinton! The latest I’ve read about what Clinton is saying on the Obama campaign trail (in front of embarrassingly small audiences) is that Obama hasn’t FAILED, it’s that the American people are too impatient! So it isn’t Bathhouse Barry’s fault, it’s OUR fault. Barry is still the Bringer of Light, Healer of the Planet, but WE are the ones who don’t get it. I can’t believe Clinton can say this stuff without barfing on his shoes. His and Hillary’s lust for power is so great they will say and do ANYTHING to set her up for 2016. Well guess what! If Obama is re-elected (God forbid) there is no way in h_ll that Hillary will be elected in 2016. I believe the American people are fed up with Socialists already, and by 2016 we would run screaming from Hillary Clinton or anyone like her.
Give these crooks 4 more years in power and there’s no telling how they’ll rig the game. Granting amnesty to all the illegals and giving them welfare (likely by executive order) will create 12 million+ new Democratic voters instantly. Add in media corruption and rigging by Holder’s DOJ and you have a perfect recipe for permanent one party rule. Venezuela didn’t turn into a banana republic/dictatorship overnight, it took Chavez and his supporters years of carefully undermining the system. This may very well be the last free election we get.
We have the model for this behavior…Hitler in the Fuhrerbunker as the Red Army stomped Berlin, deciding to destroy the economic underpinnings of German society, claiming that THEY had failed HIM.
While Obama perhaps is such a narcissist, I rather doubt it…unlike Hitler, Obama has children, and unlike Stalin, he seems to love and care for them. I imagine if he tried to indulge his narcissism to that extreme, Michelle would hit him over the head with her shoe.
He’s a relatively bush league flim-flam man who has gotten a heck of a lucky run, but his jive has worn off, and he knows it at some level.
He just wants to cash out and be gone so that he’s not left holding the bad when the consequences of his Great Big Ideas come back upon the American people like a rain of Katusha rockets.
And on the campaign fund thing…I believe all the FED regs only apply if you are receiving Federal matching funds, which I don’t think Obama has,(he rather notoriously didn’t in 2008).
I solemnly invoke Godwin’s Rule, Mr. Chairman.
Of course he wants to win.. His wife will bust his chops if he loses and she loses all her free multi-million dollar vacations, plus, he wants to win so he can play all the best golf courses.
If what you say is true, don’t you think that, at some point before the election, O would have Romney snuffed?
And give Hillary, aka Lady Macbeth, ideas?
He has a more developed sense of self-preservation than that. Which is why she’s not VOTUS right now.
cheers
eon
This paste from eon is what bothers me…so I humbly offer some older perspective, for whatever it may, or may not be worth:
“A meltdown like that would probably finish his chances for re-election, although his true believers would cheer. But ultimately, that latter is all that matters to him.”
…..that “meltdown” being his walking off the stage tonight….I can’t bear hearing or seeing Obama, so won’t be knowing first hand what goes on.
His true believers simply don’t care what he does or doesn’t do, they only care about continuing their stickin’ it to th’ Man.
That 53% who put him in our Oval Office simply don’t care about the things that we posters here care about. ……and, they’re still out there…..and, if unconverted we’ll be presented with the disaster of Obama’s re-election. Again…his “true believers” are single-mindedly determined to continue their “good times on our dole”.
This poster here is 81 years old, and I’ve lived through all of the things all of you have, only I was older…my college days at Sewanee 1950-54 were nothing like what I read here; and all during that tumultuous time of the 1960′s I lived in Hong Kong and other parts of South East Asia as a civilian and I remember wondering, “what is going on at home?” …street riots in Washington DC, my native home town.
….so believe me, I’ve never seen the likes of this particular ugly situation. I’m holding my breath.
PBO is not after money. He’s an idealog thru and thru.
Most ideologues are poor,(everything being relative).
The Obamas have done quite well for themselves out of Chicago politics, while their erstwhile constituents on the South Side have not shared in their representative’s windfall.
Obama’s ideological stance is his “game”…Community Organizer and all that, but when it came time to live it like he gives it, he bought a mansion on the North Side, and his great and good friend, Tony Rezko,(since convicted),bought his driveway for near the exact purchase price of the Obama pied-a-terre.
Imagine that…
And then there was Michelle Obama’s 300k a year job with the university of Chicago Hospital, a job which evaporated after her husband ascended to greener fields.
Apparently, Obama’s district was redrawn to include the U of C and it’s Hospital. Obama’s constituency from the South Side were wont to shlep into the UofC Hospital’s Emergency Room for primary care,(as well as the gunshot wounds, knife stabbings, contusions and drug overdoses that are so distressingly common in the “Come As You Are” sections of the South Side.}
Needless to say, the U of C Trustees were delighted to employ the wife of their state representative to encourage the Organized Community to hobble their way to some storefront Urgent Care franchise staffed by a perfectly competent veterinarian rather than clutter up the White Folk’s hospital.
Ignore Obama’s rhetoric and watch what he does…for another example:
“Green Energy”….initialized: “GE”, which happened to own NBC until last year, and which cable news network has been the most Obamamated?
Guantanamo Bay, PATRIOT, all the other bugaboos that so exercised our little Moonbat chums in the Dark Days of Dubya are largely intact.
He’s not an ideologue, he’s a money-grubbing scoundrel.
I think it’s more than just money. That is just the outward symptom. Mr. Obama is not only narcisist but also necrophillic (as defined by Erich Fromm years ago,in Sott Peck’s “People of the Lie”,necrophilia includes the desire to control others, to make them controllable, to oster dependency, to discourage their their capacity to think for themselves, to diminish their unpredictabily and originality, to keep them in line) coupled with the fact that his mother was obsessed with Obama’s father and also just with the fact that she was into radical behavior for the sake of it. Also his tuteledge at the hands of communists vowing to infiltrate the US and bring us down. His inferiorority complex triggered his narcissim and necrophillic dysfunction. I think.
I also believe (as in he book of Romans, chapters 1-8) that he has purposely rebelled against God and has replaced himself as the god. This is explained in the “Finished Work of Christ” written by Francis Schaeffer. In his book he explains that when one purposefully rebels, God turns them loose. They eventually will be damned to Hell for their evil. Evil has been politically corrected and smoothed over and many will not speak of it. But recently the country’s been exposed to it. And it looks like most recognize it. This president is evil, he is a fraud and it is all purposeful.
If he wins it means he can continue to lie and BS about everything being the fault of the Obstructionist Repuglicans while just mucking about and causing yet more havoc in the lives of Americans stupid enough to vote for him. If he loses I predict Romney’s election will immediately improve the business confidence enough to bump business activity into positive statistical directions–thereby he can and will claim that Romney is merely enjoying the fruits of his well planned and expected recovery which has come just a little too late to benefit the man responsible for our new growth. It’s sickening.
As for returning the money in campaign coffers–there’s zero chance of that happening. Sending all that money back to China whence it came isn’t in the cards.
I beg to differ. This man’s motivation is purely political and diabolical. His plan is to completely eliminate the middle class and bring a one party system to the United States. If we fail to unseat this man we will end up with two classes in this country: the poor and the rich political class. God help us if he wins.
That’s how things were in the USSR, and every other communist country ever constructed. There were the 2% who belonged (by invitation only) to the party, and then there were the 98%. Egalitarianism. Sort of.
Just don’t park in a parking space reserved for party members.
I too have, for several weeks now, been thinking that if Obama wants to leave the Presidency with any portion of his reputation in positive territory he should do everything possible to make sure he loses this election.
The Benghazi fiasco is clearly the most glaring of his failures but it is, I’m afraid, only the first of the fruits to fall from the insane foreign policy he has been cultivating.
But he has also been cultivating racial and social division at home as well as economic destruction.
.
It is also very likely that some of his absurd life story including the birth certificate, draft card, social security number, college records and who knows what else will see the light of day before the end of a second term.
What reputation could survive any of those hits let alone all or most of them.
Obama should go not only for the country’s good but for his own.
One last thing. At some point we will have to name the REAL enemy and it isn’t Islamism. The enemy is Mohamed “The prophet of Islam” of whom Obama speaks with apparent reverence, and the irretrievably evil religion of Islam that he started.
Islam is not an Abrahamic religion. It does not derive from the “law and the prophets” as do Judaism and Christianity.
Jesus was born a Jew, he lived as a Jew and He preached from the Hebrew scriptures. His purpose was not start a new religion but to fulfill prophesy. He came not to abolish the law but to fulfill the law.
Mohamed was born a pagan and lived a pagan until he decided he would selectively use Hebrew and Christian scripture to help him start a new religion of hate, violence and unmitigated evil. The stated goal of Islam is to eliminate every other religion.
Any one today living as the prophet Micah tells us to do in Micah 6:8: “What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” or “doing unto others as you would have them do unto you”, as Jesus said, would have a pretty good life.
On the other hand, anyone who today is emulating Mohamed by living a life of rape, murder, torture, pillage and every form of evil imaginable, would be facing life in prison, if not the death penalty. That is, if they lived anywhere but the Islamic world.
The enemy is Islam and its prophet.
Please consider sending this comment to the Romney campaign and to every congressman and woman. This about as succinct a comment that I have read since Obama was elected. You managed to explain Islam, simply and effectively and to highlight the difference between Mo’ and Jesus simply and effectively. Thank you for that Chuck, it made my day.
Husky – I will Amen that. If BHO should win a second term “to finish the job” as he says and whatever that means which can’t be good, I would think that impeachment and trial would be on top of the list. Particularly if we are also smart enough to elect a Republican House AND Senate.
If you get a chance, please compare the Shiite Muslim holiday of Ashura with the account of Elijah vs. the Prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel in 1 Kings 18. Then go back and read what Elijah said of Baal, and how he mocked Baal as an impotent god who wasn’t answering them because maybe he was busy taking a leak.
THAT is my view of Islam and Mohammed and Allah. An impotent god. Now go cut yourselves, you idiots, and maybe when he’s done relieving himself he’ll come help you push Israel into the sea.
Benghazi was NOT a consulate, it was a rented villa. The CIA had an apparently not so covert 40+ man operation 1.5 miles away, trying to regain control of very dangerous weapons. The Islamists didn’t want them to succeed, hence they mounted an attack to drive the mission out of Libya.
Even if the One resigns, let US all remember that Romney is left holding this bag. Unlike Blackhawk Down and/or the Beruit barracks bombing this bag contains the threat of thousands of heavy weapons looted from the Libyan arsenals, now arming our enemies including AlQ in Libya and “rebels” in Syria.
The bag is purported to contain “thousands” of shoulder-fired-missiles (SAM7 ???). Leading from behind in Eygpt, Syria and Libya means our enemies are now better-equipped with current US technology. That’s what the mission in Benghazi was about. Trying to recover those “scary” weapons.
The same situation exists in Syrian arsenals but includes bio and nerve agents.
Leading from behind is an open invitation to the bad guys to overthrow any democracy, and in doing so, pillage the treasuries.
So who’se Romney gonna retaliate against when infidel airliners start falling from the skies regularly? Think absolute quarantine will become our weapon of choice?
So….. the 40+ man installment nearby could not respond to the Benghazi attack because then their cover would have been blown??? Guess that must be it. Thank goodness their cover was not blown. I have been wondering why these guys didn’t come to help Stevens, Smith and the two others in their 7 hour battle for survival until the very end. Thank goodness their cover was not blown.
The other interesting factoid that recently hdribbled out that now is puzzling me is that apparently 1 hour or so (??) into the attack, Hillary asked for and received permission from the Libyan government to fly an aircraft into Libyan airspace, presumably to effect a rescue of some sort. But this did not happen. Discussions of this sort were going on and the President was what, asleep? Prepping for Vegas? Either way, this kind of discussion should suggest that “people in high places” knew from the get-go that they were dealing with a terrorist attack.
AND BY THE WAY, ABOUT THIS MORNING’S CONTENTION THAT THE PRESIDENT’S BRIEFINGS FROM THE CIA CONTENDED FOR SEVERAL DAYS THAT IT ALL GREW OUT OF A PROTEST RELATED TO THE VIDEO? MALARKEY. SHOWS HOW STUPID THEY THINK WE ARE.
They did come to help. They are the ones who went to the consulate and got the remaining Americans out of there and back to the CIA facility.
Obama may resign … however, he’s already met with Bob Schieffer; which probably can be interpreted as something sinister like you described. However, even Bob knows how difficult it is to reign in Obama, so ol’ Bob will be under pressure to deliver the goods. Attacking Romney is all they’ve got left now … but Romney may also have some penetrating and very illuminating questions; it’s gonna be interesting.
I do agree however, that if Obama was as smart as everyone pronounces him to be; he would resign and thereby salvage a little of his reputation. We’d probably forgive many of his actions if he took the high road; but if he stubbornly refuses to budge, then he’s gonna hit bottom and hit it hard.
Besides, resigning would let Biden pardon him of the numerous crimes he has surely committed. Presidential pardons are plenary and absolute, but a President cannot pardon himself.
Article 2, Section 2 of the Constitution
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.
I don’t see where it says he can’t.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but in order to be pardoned don’t you have to admit to the crimes you’re being pardoned for, or at least acknowledge them in some way? I don’t think Obama would ever do this unless actually faced with the threat of prison.
Obama is to arrogant to resign or throw his campaign.
Obama isn’t going to resign, as sweet a moment as that would be. And frankly, the specter of a swearing-in of Jokin’ Joe Biden as CinC is too awful to contemplate.
As for tonight’s debate, I think we will see more of the same. Bob Schieffer will support Obama in every way possible, while being as rude to Romney as he can get away with. I’m sure Obama will have been supplied with the questions, and pre-written answers in advance, which he will have rehearsed and rehearsed, with possible an earpiece so someone backstage can back him up if he gets himself in trouble. Barry cannot function without a teleprompter or some other backup system.
My hope is that, when Bob Schieffer proves himself King of the MSM tonight, this will be the end of the whole election debate joke for good. Why Republicans think they have to set themselves up for this nonsense is beyond me.
Having the Joker take over for Obama isn’t exactly what I would call a good deal.
What the infamous Candy Crowley debate has shown is that Romney has to be prepared for counterfactual claims (AKA gross distortions of the truth or lies.) Mitt was totally thrown off his attack by the contention that “we will not stand for any terrorist attacks” )or whatever the exact Rose Garden phraseology was) meant that Obama on Day One told the American people that the Benghazi attack was a terrorist attack. Any sentient being knows this is cattle excreta. However, it worked very well to reduce Mitt to “But, but, but!!!” and turning to Candy to confirm objective reality which she predictably failed to do. Mitt has to internalize that he will hear during the debate total fabrications from the President and to respond smoothly without being put off by the cognitive dissonance he feels. Dorothy Rabinowitz said it best this a.m. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443684104578067041987322754.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
I think he should kill himself.
Moderator, don’t you think it would be in the best interests of us all to delete the above comment? (from sablegsd) It’s really inappropriate and just wrong. (I am not at all an Obama supporter, btw.)
But how? Build a $16 trillion reefer and choom his way to the grave?
A slow motion close up video of him trying to decapitate himself with a plastic spork would be good.
Mr. Simon, Your finest post to date. You nailed it. Stoner kid doesn’t want to deal. It’s all a drag, being president. Except the cool parts. In his world, nothing is sacred except his buzz. Honor, duty … it’s all buzz kill, dude. What a coward. What a disgrace.
President Barack Obama: the smartest guy in the choom.
Using the bodies of murdered Americans (murders he enabled) as TV props.
Resign. It’s not enough. Resign and then go into exile. Be the first president of the United States to defect to Russia.
Then there is the other theory going around. Obama planned to have the ambassador kidnapped by his friends the Moslem Brotherhood so that he could broker a deal to exchange the ambassador for the blind Sheik. This would have been portrayed as a diplomatic coupe and given Obama lots of capitol in claiming that he is such an expert on foreign relations. Unfortunately for Obama, the ambassador was killed. You notice also that you hear very little now about Cairo wanting their Sheik back. Although it is claimed to be a theory, there is a lot of circumstantial evidence to support it. In view of the Fast and Furious scandal, there is a lot of plausibility in this theory. I doubt if the American public will ever hear the truth about what happened in Benghazi.
^^^THIS^^^
The more I think about this, the more it rings true. The video was a plan B in case of failure, they kept it in their back pocket, along with their fall guy who now sits in jail.
I really don’t like conspiracy theories in general, but it sure seems like they had that video excuse lined up well…
This has been my theory from the beginning.
The Ambassador being kidnapped and trade for te Blind Sheik makes a horrible kind of sense. That would explain his being hung out to dry security wise. Unfortunately Islamist have never been noted for their self control, and the fact that someone fought back when they were simply supposed to waltz in and grab him enraged them. Interesting read on their anger control problems and why they have them:
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2012/04/nicolai-sennels-report-from-the-therapy-room-why-are-muslims-more-violent-and-criminal.html

I find them fascinating when you consider that Islam has the bomb (Pakistan).
From your lips to God’s — and Obama’s — ears, Roger.
Resigning, What would be the fun in that?
That’s like quitting when you are about to get fired.
I want to see Obama Lose! The Emperor needs to get kicked off the throne in the biggest and most public way.
Would it be wrong to pray for this outcome?
It would be wrong not to.
It is always good and right to pray for the President. In the case of this particular incumbent, let me suggest Psalms 109:8 as the text for your prayer.
The fact is that Obama is a lazy man. He wants to be president for the glory and the endless adulation. Maybe he should go into show business with the other narcisist in chief Bill Clinton. Frankly I think he has an ethical gap that is huge which means none of this real stuff like peoply dying because of his BS policies bothers him one bit. After all the ends of running America into the ground justifies the means like people dying etc.or little bumps in the road that are not “optimal”. This guy cannot leave the scene fast enough for most of us. We are sick of him.
I agree with you that Obama is a lazy man and doesn’t really want to have to work to help the country, just bring it down. Poor Obama, such a terrible childhood, not unlike many in the world today unfortunately. Never did think of himself as an American and certainly has no moral code of ethics. How is the election running so close? anyway, if he resigned, Hillary would be ready to jump into the void and even though she is a big part of the problem in the middle east the idiots in the United States would “forgive” her and vote to put her in office.
I agree 100%! That’s why I think Obama has already effectively resigned; he’s stopped working. I also agree these deaths don’t bother him a bit except insofar as they affect his image.
His next four years will be interminable for him either way. Do them in the Oval Office? Ugh! Losing now could be good. He’d be Black Jesus to the end, dying on a cross for the sins of an electorate that wasn’t good enough for him.
The trouble is, Michelle doesn’t want to sleep with Jesus. And Jesus is nothing more than a mascot to the rich, beautiful, and powerful people Obama wants to hang with.
The UN gig will help. The appearance of power, no risk, tons of publicity, and America-bashing is the only official job duty.
I keep thinking that Bill Clinton, who has buildup a pretty good portfolio of connections with foreign leaders, will put numerous spokes into that wheel of Obama’s UN dreams. Clinton will not forget how Obama has treated Hillary from the 2008 primaries onwards, right to her last ‘falling on the sword’ for Obama.
Once Obama is out of the WH, Clinton does not owe him anything any longer, and he’ll have his revenge.
“Its just a bump in the road.”

How does it feel to have an abused child for president?
Adolph Hitler was an abused child,
and destroyed Germany
Hitler wasn’t “abused” even by today’s weird standards, but he did have some “Father issues” with an out of wedlock sort of inbred pedigree. Also similar surname confusion as Hitler went by Schickelgruber ’til he was 9 when his mother married. Most agree he wouldnt have gone far without the name change.
Chuck at 7,
Problem is, Chuck, that Muhammad” (best spelling, I think) didn’t exist, being made up by the Abassid caliphs about the end of the 8th/beginning of the 9th century in Baghdad, their new capital.
The earlier Umayyad dynasty of Damascus weren’t “Muslims” either, but rather Christians of a sort–i.e., they saw Jesus as the Messiah but not the Son of God, co-equal of the Father, etc. Hence their inscription on the Dome of the Rock, a church they built on the Temple site and the earliest written inscription of anything remotely “Muslim”. Muslims for centuries have read the inscription as referring to “Muhammad” the prophet, but actually, “Muhammad” isn’t a proper name, but a phrase meaning “The Praised One” that the Umayyads used for Jesus.
Most of the Dome’s inscription is about Jesus, making an argument that it is wrong to think he was the Son of God. That’s why the references to Jesus on the Dome’s inscription is plentiful, and that of “Muhammad” extremely restrictive.
And this explains why Islam has been hell-bent (pun intended) on fighting the Christian idea of the Incarnation. They are adamantly opposed to that–and THAT is the ONE thing in common with both the Umayyad’s “Christianity” (a very Semitic-milieu-based one) and the later Abassids’ new creation, Islam (the Submission).
There never was an invasion of the Byzantine or Persian empires from Arabia. The “Arabs” who pulled off the coups that created the Arab empire were all Arabs living in what is now Syria and Iraq in the 7th century. Arabia could never support the population needed to attack such massive empires. The whole Muhammad story was a retro-fitted myth to justify the Abassids’ seizure of power.
All this is explained in scholarly detail in The Hidden Origins of Islam, edited by by Karl-Heinz Ohlig and Gerd-R. Puin.
In other words, Islam is fake from the get-go. It was an “imperial propaganda” religion established in order to break the Arab/Persian empire completely away from that empire’s founding dynasty, the Umayyads of Damascus.
So it would be so freaking impossible for Muslims to get their minds around this that we can expect their hard-core core (tens of millions of people) to die fighting rather than accept it.
Not a good situation. But somehow it is fitting, is it not, that our fake president so embraces a fake religion and its fake historical narrative. (The “I was born in Kenya, oh literary world, and my father was a Kenyan government finance minister and my mother a professor of Anthropology” — obviously Bam gave this fake material to the people who wrote his agent’s bio of him.)
Thomas Hardy said many things are too strange to believe, but nothing is too strange to have happened. Wow, the old atheist was right about that, that’s for sure.
An Préachán
You are probably right about the origin of Islam and the invention of Muhammed, but the fictional Muhammed you refer to is worshiped by millions of Muslims and is the one the we “infidels” must contend with.
I think Romney needs to come in with the pertinent facts and ability to weave them into an easily accessible story. Show humor and command and most importantly real interest in the plights of real people and what created them.
And then let the outcome be that Obama resigns himself to losing. And Reps begin to think in terms of a devolving process. Don’t say there will be no cuts to education if too much of the funding is being used to create permanent mental shackles. And equity through enforced mediocrity.
The reality is too many colleges and universities have become institutions where little real value is added and much is lost. And all of that at great expense.
Is this a negative sum function for the government to be providing or funding needs to be a seminal question come 2013? If yes, ask why are we doing it. We were not born on this Earth to fund public sector workers and their designated cronies.
“We were not born on this Earth to fund public sector workers and their designated cronies.”
Wow, Robin. Thanks! That’s a winning campaign slogan for Romney/Ryan right there!
An Préachán
“We were not born on this Earth to fund public sector workers and their designated cronies.”
Thank you Robin! That is the most succinct description of how I feel regarding Public Sector workers.
I will be promptly sharing your statement with others, as I know many that feel the same way, but have yet to find such an elegant way to phrase it.
If the big media outlets had their way, Begghazi would be forgotten (would anyone be surprised if Bob Schieffer devoted only 5-10 minutes of tonight’s debate to the subject?) the problem is for Obama, if he gets re-elected the media may want to move on, but the militants won’t.,When they see weakness, they will ratchet up the violence, just as they did in the run-up to 9/11.
Just as with the bad economic numbers that the media keeps saying “unexpectedly” come out every month, you could expect the media to be reporting on a lot of “unexpected” militant attacks on U.S. interests during a second Obama term.
I agree completely – how can anybody in this administration (at least those dealing with foreign policy) dare show their face in public??? At a minimum, her Hillariness should quit….
I also agree with John Bolton’s assessment of the attack and Obama’s reaction thereto – that is, that Obama’s cockeyed world view set the tone and substance of the post attack reaction. After all, Obama is the smartest (his assessment) and most interesting person (also his assessment) in most any room; and, it appears the initial view of the Benghazi attack (they had all the info) was that it was terrorist, later the attack was blamed on a reaction to that stupid video. Our out of touch president wanted to believe it so it was so.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/oct/17/obama-benghazi-terror-attack-john-bolton
Just because Obama is black doesn’t mean that he should be allow to cheat to win an election. Affirmative action should not extend to presidentail elections and presidential debates.
We’re still in trouble, regardless of who wins. The Dem Party over the last few decades has successfully embedded identity politics into the landscape of American culture. Identity is why illegal immigration cannot be fought, why legal immigration cannot be stemmed, why Title IX and the NAACP will go on forever, why welfare cannot be ended, etc.
The Left is still fighting the same battles as Kerouac and Ginsberg, Dylan and MLK. Multiculturalism and diversity are still the go-to memes in American culture and the Left crows about the coming demo shift, read tipping point, read less success. There is nothing that can be done about this.
From Columbus to John Wayne to Teddy Roosevelt, all the old ways are seen as crimes of one sort or another, and this attitude is embedded in American culture.
The fight has basically been won by people who are losers; self-styled outsiders, rebels, the disenfranchised. They can organize and complain but they cannot create or be productive. Therein lies the rub. Stick a fork in it. Without a shift in thinking in America too radical to envision, but which was once normal, the Third World will inherit America with all their old ways and old feuds and old failures. Look at the UK where 10,000 Muslims protested in front of Google about blasphemy. Why are those people even there in the first place?
“It would be really interesting if Mitt Romney asked Obama what motivated Major Hasan’s mass murder of his fellow soldiers at Ft. Hood. I bet the answer wouldn’t even be worthy of an undergraduate.”
He’ll amswer that “that’s not foreign policy so let’s move along to the next topic”
Roger, the name of the enemy is ISLAM. The source of the enmity is the KORAN. I understand what you mean by Islamism, but the use of the -ism makes it seem as if there is a moderate Islam and a radical Islam. There is not a moderate Islam nor is there a radical Islam. All there is is Islam and the Koran. So, let us call the enemy for what it is: ISLAM and the KORAN with sharia waiting in the wings.
Obama is an “Appease-nic in Chief” who has go to go and I do believe alot of people who are telling their cocktail hour friends they are voting for Obama will ask themselves in the voting booth if we are better off with four more years of someone running the country who just likes the “bling” of the job and has no idea what they are doing. The answer of course is NO! I seriously do not know how Susan Rice can ever show her face in public again and Carney is THE WORST press secretary to ever attempt to grace a microphone (I have never seen someone so ill at ease lying when they are supposed to be a pro at it!)
The real story of what happened in Lybia will come out and I hope some of the heads that roll belong to incompetent appease-nics on OUR SIDE!
It would be useful to know:
1. Whether the guys in the Benghazi consulate called “Broken Arrow?”
2. Whether there was a U.S. carrier (of any type) on 9/11/12?
Obama lies , his followers don’t care . . . as they have no morals
Obama’s followers are mesmerized by the Messiah , the goebbels of his day
What is amazing is how the main stream media has ignored the fact that Iran has grown stronger over the last 4 years. Now we have proof that a webcam on a passing drone took the entire footage of the Libya attacks. This President has been the most inept when it comes to foreign policy. His disregard for other foreign leaders is appalling.
If George W. Bush had spent the two weeks following 9/11 proclaiming that the two airplanes which crashed into the twin towers did so because of a navigational error.. the media would have savaged him. And rightly so. Sorry state of affairs!
I can’t wait for a debate on foreign policy tonight in a nation where neither major political party will actually discuss fundamental matters of foreign policy. Bush dropped the ball on 9/11, Obama dropped the ball on Benghazi, and Romney can’t wait to drop the ball on Iran. Awesome.
Roger your on the Drudge report!!!
this guy aint going anywhere. they pumped so much concrete in the bunker under the [white]house, it will be barry’s last stand. the 35 million dollar palace he built on the north shore of Oahu wont satisfy his urge to be king of the world, and he’s not going to be able to travel like Bill Clinton could. He’ll end up in the bunker.
Fantastic article! Mr. Simon knows what we are up against in the insidious obama!
Nothing will come of any of it. In fact, worse things are on the horizon.
Seriously? If you’re looking for Obama to resign…keep waiting, because it ain’t gonna happen! The chances of this happening is about the same chances of Obama be impeached. Again, not going to happen. It’s asinine and it is GOING NOWHERE. But seriously folks … your time and efforts will be a lot better spent focusing on the election in November than a drawn-out impeachment process. Get over it. Impeachment may seem like the easier way to “get” Barack Obama. To that I say, quit being lazy and get off your butts and do something to ensure that he won’t be re-elected in November. The ballot box works. And that means not voting for Gary Johnson and that means not writing in Ron Paul. There will only be one of two people occupying that White House on January 20, 2013…Barack Obama or Mitt Romney. As they say: Use wisely your power of choice. Your children and grandchildren are watching — and they’ll remember. If you use that power of choice to vote for Obama – and he wins – and he succeeds in his heartfelt desire to destroy free-market capitalism in America – your progeny will curse your name far into the future.
Covering up is bad enough but for me the real problem is a lack of leadership. If I were Commander-in-Chief and I was told that a US embasy was under attack, I would do call the pertinent cabinent members to a meeting in the Situation Room within the first half hour. I would review the situation and the assests we had available. I would scramble fighter jets to the scene, followed by Apache helicopters and medi-vacs and a company of Marines. I would call the President of Libya and remind him of his duty to protect our embassy and I would tell him (not ask him) that we are coming. I would take out not only the attackers but also all the known places they were training in Libya. The Halls of Treboli would know that there is an America and that we protect our own. They would also know that we act on principle and not out of fear. This is what a leader of the greatest nation on earth would do.
Good comment. Also, at least send a team in real time to secure the two facilities and any classified material instead of leaving them open to the winds and the mobs.
“leftover undergraduate ambivalence”.
I don’t think so. I don’t believe there is any ambivalence – ObamaRx hates Western civilization and culture with a passion.
“WAR IS NOT HEALTHY FOR CHILDREN AND OTHER LIVING THINGS. . .”
Neither is a communist takeover of our country.
How many years did you spend in graduate school to figure that out?
“…the morally stunted Candy Crowley.”
Morally stunted. Ethically challenged. What’s your point? Not bugs, (highly desired) features by our (proglodyte) MSM (Pravda).
Haven’t been here in a while. You people have gone total Wingnut. No wonder the Republican Party is dying. Goodbye again.
…Overall, the Democrats now have a five-point lead in party affiliation among registered voters when independents who lean to either party are included (48% to 43%). That is down from a 12-point advantage in 2008 (51% to 39%). The current Democratic edge in leaned party identification is comparable to the slim leads they held in 2004 (three points) and 2000 (four points). [Source: Pew Research Center (link under my name)]
Tell me again how the GOP is “dying”, Mildred.
No, he should not resign because that would deprive us of the joy in giving him the Jimmy Carter heave-ho. We’re retiring him not just for Benghazi but for his entire body of work.
Carter wasn’t the only loser during the Reagan Era, the media was also a big loser. Their mendacity during the 80′s gave rise to Fox News and Talk Radio and their work covering Barky’s sorry behind has done nothing but diminish their power. Good riddance to Barky and his yapping dogs.
Headline after the election: Obama Loses – Unexpectedly!
Frog marched off the stage in handcuffs would be more appropriate.
For Obama to resign over this would be morally commendable, and appropriate.
The likelihood of Barack Obama performing such a self-effacing, moral act is a couple of microns north of zero. It would take an act of God to make him do that. I do not discount acts of God, but under no other circumstance would he do that. Barack Obama is wholeheartedly dishonest, and narcissistic.
nixton and bush would have resigned after 6 months gertrude
It’s certainly pleasant to think of Obama resigning. But we all know that’s never gonna happen. The reason: Obama is the most thoroughly deracinated personality ever to serve as president. He has no roots in the moral, historical and political traditions of this country. You can point to his anti-colonialism or his socialism of whatever stripe or his time abroad or his cosseted education or his weird family life or his Chicago radicalism or his narcissism or sociopathy. I’m sure all of those figure into it to greater or lesser degrees. But his deracination is a plain fact.
All I can really say is that the man in office today is a Murderer. He should be put upon a bench and trialed by a jury of his peers. Put him in a dark wet dirty hole, with nice thick bars and let him rot for the rest of his life.
We all know he would rather lie than tell the truth. He is so dishonest, I can’t stand listening to him anymore.
where’s the photoshop pic of the empty chair next to the bloody fingerprints in the burned out consulate?
The Bengazzi incident is the result of incompetence on the part of Obama and Hillary Clinton; both have the ability to dazzle like rock stars, neither has the ability to represent U.S. stregnth to the world. Neither is fit for their high offices.
The attack on our embassy that took the life of our ambassador and three other Americans and diminished us is the result of appologizing, bowing, and “leading from behind”.
Obama is not going to resign, his ego is too great. Hillary will not resign, that will destroy her political ambitions.
It’s up to Americans to choose a leader who will restore our stature in global politics…and rejuvinate our stalled economy.
Obama cant resign yet. He isnt through destroying America yet.
Even if Romney wins there is a lot of destruction still coming between now and inauguration day.
Why are the moderators not mutually agreed on by both parties? Why does the Republican side have to knowingly submit itself to partisan moderation? (And no, this isn’t a rhetorical question. I really don’t get how this works – I’m not American.)
Romeny needs to ask the President: What did you mean when you told Medvedev to tell Putin you would have more flexibility after the election?
I think you know what he means. And I think you know it’s reasonable. Just review Romney’s record and I think you’ll get a good understanding between the difference of “governing” vs. “campaigning.”
When Romney is campaigning in New England, he’s a pro-choice liberal. When he’s campaigning nationally, he’s a pro-life conservative.
When he’s a N.E. candidate he says of Vietnam, “It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam.” When he’s a national candidate he said “I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there” (ignoring the fact that there was nothing preventing his “longing” from moving to “participating.”)
When he’s a primary candidate pre-Obamacare he says that the MA Healthcare law is a “good model for a national system.” When he’s a primary candidate in 2012 he’d “repeal the whole bill.” (Since he’s now the nominee he says he’d only “replace parts of it.”)
See, there is a difference between campaigning and governing because people have to stick to extreme positions to get their base to vote for them and you seem to be part of the problem.
Lets not forget that Obama was against individual mandates to buy insurance, until he was for them.
Or that he howled and raged as a senator about Bush’s use of indefinite detention and promised to close Guantanamo bay. Remind me again why the left no longer considers those issues?
Or his promise to halve the deficit (not double it)
Or when he was running in 2008 and said “If you don’t have a record to run on…You make a big election about small things” like big bird or binders?
“Or when he swore up and down that he wouldn’t raise taxes on the middle class, then made a middle class tax the centerpiece of his healthcare reform?
“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.” — Barack Obama Remind me again how Libya posed an actual or imminent threat to the nation?
I could go on for days about the flip-flopping and hypocrisy of Barak Obama, but the fact is that Obama the Senator was VERY different than Obama the president. Obama campaigned on a promise to reverse the worst of the Bush policies as president and has instead doubled down on them while adding a few of his own, while breaking many of his other promises in rather severe ways. So it’s pretty disingenuous of you to claim that Mitt Romney is somehow worse because he’s saying up front how he’ll behave differently as president than governor of Massachusetts.
I’m pretty sure I didn’t say one or the other was better or worse. I noted, correctly, that this is the nature of campaigns and governing. I didn’t say “there is a difference between republican campaigning and republican governing,” I said “there is a difference between campaigning and governing.”
Exactly!
Obama needs to explain to the American citizen just what he meant by those words. What is it that you wish to do Mr. President that you can’t yet reveal that could only be told after you get reelected?
Whatever it is you conveyed the American people would likely vote your ass out of office if they knew what you meant by that. Good enough reason not to even find out eh? Vote this loon out!
Part of me want to think that you’re intentionally being misleading, because I know that most of the criticism is not based on any real issue with him other than just being mad that he one the first place. But I’ve started to come try to force myself to believe the old adage of “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”
First off, review the facts and details surrounding the Beirut Marine’s barracks bombing during which 241 military personnel died. This was after multiple warnings by CIA, military and local officials. The pentagon had begged Reagan to shutdown those barracks.
How about the Khobar Towers bombing in 1996. During which the military received a communication that said the towers WILL be bombed if the military didn’t leave. And the Saudi government refused to let U.S. security forces provide their own security and surveillance. That was 19 dead and 371 injured.
I’m not saying that the Benghazi attack was nothing to be discussed. But this never ending drone of “this is the worst ” is getting a bit ridiculous.
Lets not let the ignorance from the last century bleed over into this century. For most of the last 30 years of the 20th century there was little to no knowledge of an islamic war against America. Back then it was something akin to a flea attacking an elephant – we just didn’t bother to look into what was going on and who was instigating these attacks. Now we know better (most of us anyway) and we expect more from our leaders than to let them obfuscate blame – to outright lie to the American people to keep the (false) narrative alive that that war is over. Acts against us in the 1980s such as the marine barracks tragedy seemed almost impossible to imagine then. We now know those acts and more are not only possible but increasingly more likely – and more horrendous than what happened at the marine barracks – especially if we do not acknowledge that we are at war still.
What happened in Libya was made possible in part because someone didn’t want to believe such acts were possible on their watch – it did and 4 people paid the price for the ignorance of the President. It is where the buck stops after all. Policy – for good or for bad – comes from the Oval Office.
Obama wanted to present himself as a warrior to the American people. His ‘spiking the football’ was out there for all to see and hear. Osama dead – GM alive was the narrative – the defeater of the wicked osama bin laden and his ilk was the not-so subtle message. That image is being dismantled – not by us but by reality – the attacks in Libya and elsewhere – Iraq – Afghanistan etc prove the point. The image of warrior is dissolved and taking its place is something that looks more like Nevil Chamberlain day by day.
The best question Romney could possibly ask Obama tonight is “what did you mean to convey to Mr. Medvedev when you told him you’d have more flexibility in your second term”??? I think we’d all like to know.
For sure I can relate to Roger’s frustraion. And agree that there are other disturbing situations in which American leaders have chosen to protect their political posterior over the lives and wellbeing of the citizenry. What I find catostrophic in this example is the scope of the conspiracy — a Secretary of State (lionized by a pandering media based upon …. well, what exactly?), our NSC leadership (well we saw where that was going when General Jim Jones bailed out and we got a….. well just who is that guy?), our UN representative (oh my, nice performance in retrospect), the lame stream media (nice cover Candy-ample), the Democrats on Foreign Relations (or was that some caucus that got into the wrong room?), the “intelligence” community — and the hits just keep on coming….
I am troubled that we are so screwed up that there is no, zero, zilch, bi-partisan nausea about this mess. We will have ourselves to blame in the long run. Our Republic is weaker now that it was in December of 2008. We are punching well below our weight. And if history is any lesson (and, it is) we will rue the day when some lunatic element, somewhere, takes all of this as a symbol of our incompetence and lack of resolve as a nation and culture, and breaks something major off in our collective back. History will be the judge. We will pay the price. I am not a Mitt lover, but 4 more years of this will be hard even for the lame stream to cover up.
I like this “conspiracy theory” laid out by the following:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jrEc7bTy4E
Why else would they reduce the number of security personnel leading to the attack?
Why else would they sit idly by watching during the attack when they could have easily intervened?
What valid reason do they have for confusion around the explanation for the attack and their response?
This (so far) seems to be the only plausible explanation.
There are two points that should be made that would easily prove that this president is one of the biggest liars since Nixon.
First, after the CIA station chief in Benghazi sent out a FLASH warning all over the world that an attack was taking place, what was the State Department’s and White House’s response? A lot of nothing. In fact, the State Department was able to watch the whole attack take place in REAL TIME on video. They literally sat back and watched these four men die and did nothing about it. There should have been quick reaction forces mobilized all over the Mediterranean to deal with this in a matter of minutes, yet nothing was done. This was a shameful act of letting some brave Americans twist in the wind while Washington decided how to explain this mess to the American public. Are you telling me that the White House wasn’t informed of what was happening at the same time the State Department was watching this live on video? Give me a break. And if the White House wasn’t informed as this was happening, then we have bigger intelligence problems than just trying to find out who screwed up here.
Second and most important, after an event like the killings in Benghazi, all of the American intelligence services are activated to find out what exactly happened. This includes the CIA, the NSA, the National Security Council, the State Department, and probably even the FBI (since this involved the murders of Federal officials). I’m sure that within 24 hours the White House had a complete picture of what happened on 9/11/2012, and if they did not, all the people in our intelligence services need to be fired and replaced. If Obama and Biden and especially the State Department knew within 24 hours that this was NOT a riot caused by a video (something that both the Libyan president and the CIA station chief in Benghazi confirmed), then why did the administration keep pushing this idea that this was simply a riot that got out of control because of a video?
Because the administration could not admit that its whole policy in Libya had failed, and failed miserably. Obama has now created a Somalia on the Mediterranean, just a few miles off the coast of mainland Europe. Now that we know that al Qaeda is gaining in strength there, how long do you think it will be before al Qaeda launches an attack against western Europe from Libya? My guess is pretty soon, certainly within the next few months. This is a huge mess that was not only created by Obama, Clinton, and even Rice, but the fact that they all allowed four brave Americans to just die and do nothing about it is simply shameful. The administration needs to answer for all of this, and it will. If Obama (God forbid) gets a second term, this will be his Watergate.
And how to “explain” the intel in the president’s daily brief of Sept. 16th that the attack was video-induced? Who wrote that?
Clinton was a much bigger liar than Nixon. In fact, he was a bigger liar than Obama.
Obama would never resign…Honor is not in his DNA…Every one of those four men killed in the Benghazi attack would make a better president and human being than this egocentric and self-effacing product of perverted liberalism…I voted for a Liberal once; John F. Kennedy…And, Mr. President, you are no John F. Kennedy…
In the second term, I envision President Obama wandering the halls of the WH, speaking to portraits in a stoned stupor and giving a fireside chat from the Oval Office offering that he is not a “crook.”
Of course, that does little to comfort the country that has come to know him as a mocker, dullard, business failure, conniver, un-truther and political hack.
I can’t listen to Obama speak anymore without getting the image of the late great Cleavon Little’s “I’ll the the N*****” scene in Blazing Saddles. And his “followers” are the clueless townspeople.
For the millions of Americans who don’t really know who 0bama is..

The real losers in all this are the good people. The hard working stuck in Unions. Those that lost their jobs or businesses. Students whose dreams have been shattered. There are marriages that have failed due to income loss that might otherwise been saved.
We have lost due to the loss of truth, displayed in the uselessness of the Main Street media. Thousands of good but deceived Muslims have been lumped in with radical Jihadists, it will take time to undue the damage to the country in the EPA, Obama Care and HEW. Debt is so far out of control and the cause of the Black Man has been set back by decades. This all due to the Liberal thinking that brought this EVIL narcissist to power. We must be watchful that this NEVER happens again. God raises the kings and He deposed them. Blessed is the nation whose god is the LORD. Just whom have we been kidding ? Ourselves , of course !
Obama’s outrage during the second debate even at being questioned on his response to the terrorist killings…
Faux, orchestrated, manufactured outrage.
It’s nice that James Rosen et al. keep dancing around Benghazi, but asking for explanations from this crowd of obvious liars and dissemblers is begging the question. The more we wait “for a full inquiry” or “until all the facts are in”, the more distance and spin seep in and turn the anger into milquetoast.
Just like the long saga of Fast & Furious when, after 2+ years, some report comes out and the story goes relatively dark.
Wear out the attention span. Attrition, what they count on.
and when bathhouse Barry gets offended by being challenged and says, “Frankly, I’m offended,” Mitt should come back with: Frankly, Mr. President, It’s not about YOU.
Obama won’t resign, he’ll have Hillary resign in his place. It certainly doesn’t appear to me that he wants to remain president, but by reaching too high he has placed himself in a horrific bind. If he is defeated, he can fall back on racism as the reason for his defeat, he can become a living martyr, a role both he and the MSM will relish.
Hilary is retiring in less than 90 days. It wouldn’t really make a difference to have a Secretary of State that would have to confirmed by the Senate if Obama loses.
Obama is continuing to bank on the ignorance and laziness of voters. His rhetoric might give a few race-obsessed white libs a thrill up their leg, but there is no tingle in an analytical mind. He has a record of failed promises, of horrible incompetence and hypocrisy, and of abject failure. Maybe his biggest liability was provided by the man-child himself in the 2008 campaign. He said that, when a candidate has no record to run on, he’ll demonize his opponent and make a big election about small things. I know you love looking at mirrors, Mr. Prezzy, and I know you love the sound of your own voice, but how does Mr. “Eye Candy,” the self-described “best political adviser I could have,” walk back sucha damning prediction?
Tonight’s debate could be very interesting. As a foreign policy debate, there is little or nothing that Obama can attack Romney on, and Obama is completely vulnerable.
Romney doesn’t need to ‘score points’ or zing Obama tonight. The 60+ million people already know the facts. All Mitt needs to do is to look and sound like a real president.
I suppose your thesis might have some weight IF we discount George Bush’s lie to the American people about weapons of mass destruction and the subsequent lies and spin to make sure we stayed the course in that region of the World. Cheney, Bush have to go down in history as the biggest war criminals and liars in our lifetimes. I suggest you take a step off your high horse, open your closed eyes and do a little independent research so you will stop making yourself look foolish. Dolt.
“I suggest you take a step off your high horse, open your closed eyes and do a little independent research so you will stop making yourself look foolish.”
Prolly outghta heed your own advice there, Scooter.
Five minutes after I glanced at this screed and I’m still chuckling ….
Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld leave the nation unprotected on September 11, 2001, and 3000 people get killed. Then Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld bungle the mission/war to get bin Laden in Afghanistan, then tell lies about ‘weapons of mass destruction’ to launch an unprovoked attack and invasion of Iraq that resulted in 4000+ GIs getting killed and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis getting killed. (The cost of both wars the real cause of bankrupting the nation.)
And this guy thinks the Benghazi debacle should result in the resignation of a president?
This guy Simons has got some very serious Obama Derangement Syndrome and a touch of Romnesia as well.
Uh… Who was it that was asleep at the gate when the terrorists were training to fly planes in South Florida? Public Enemy #1 at that time was a five year old boy that had perpetrated the unspeakable and unpardonable crime of getting Bill Clinton bumped off the cover of TIME Magazine for a week. Janet Reno had the manpower to send in armed officers but never bothered to check visas for terrorists training for 9/11.
But FDR was the greatest President to ever walk the White House, even if he left the nation unprotected on December 7, 1941, and 3,000 people got killed.
That is, unprovoked if you ignore 16 U.N. resolutions broken daily, the fact 109 Dimocrats also voted for the Iraq War including our current V.P. under the assumption there was WMD which Saddam had used on his own people, Saddam housing terrorists that killed in Americans in the 80s, paying Palestinians to commit suicide bombings in Israel, stolen money in the food for oil program starving his own. Heck, Saddam Hussein and his sons weren’t bad guys. Just misunderstood.
And yet, some how Obama ended the bad war (Iraq) all on his own, but the deficit more than double four years after George Bush left the White House. That’s good, old libbie math at work.
Dave represents the very essence of why should Romney win, the nation is still in trouble. When you have 60,000,000 stooges this thick, apologists for failure, double standards and duplicity their nature, it makes the nation tough to manage.
Obama’s feigned indignation during the debate, accusing Romney of politicizing a tragedy by criticizing his foreign policy, was a first in the history of the U.S. American presidents have always made foreign policy decisions which resulted in the deaths of Americans, and those decisions have always been criticized. But I don’t believe any president has ever complained that his critics were politicizing a tragedy. The passing of George McGovern brings to mind his criticism of Nixon’s conduct of the war in Vietnam, but Nixon never said McGovern was politicizing a tragedy just to advance his own career.
Yes, if Obama meant in any manner shape or form all those bromides to which he offers lip service about this “great country”, he would acknowledge his own absolute ineptitude and resign.
That would happen on a cold day in hell.
Of course, if the plan was to destroy the USA, then he and the Dems and their fellow travelers would not consider themselves failures.
True enough. Obama’s not done yet, gives himself an incomplete.
An incomplete for the project of dismantling the country & then reassembling it in a form more pleasing to his ideology.
Obama has recently declared that re-election would give him some kind of ironclad mandate for fully implementing the agenda.
It would be a bloody tooth and nail fight for another 4 years.
Zippy has 3 choices.
Resign and let Biden pardon him (Xmas eve), Win and be impeached over Benghazi cover up, or lose the election.
yeah…but HE kill Bin Laden……. LOL
There was no response to calls for security or for calls for help once the attack started. Because this was a crisis, and don’t forget, you never let a good crisis go to waste.
For sure, the President will not resign tonight. However, if he wins, this coming November 6 elections, the House of representatives can initiate impeachment
proceedings. From financial profligacy,among others.
ATTENTION CITIZENS; (Just having some fun here)
Suffering from Obamunism?
Try Obama-Roid Ointment. Doctor recommended 10 to 1 to relieve symptoms of incompetence, corruption, lying, anti-American values, moral ambiguity, and more.
To get yours, On November 6th, simply goto your local voting place and vote Romney/Ryan!
Brought to you by doctors against OBAMUNISM and the government-media-complex, the hydra.
Have a nice day…
PS;
(That will take care of one little problem. Regardless of who wins and what the talking heads say, the system itself it staggeringly corrupt and it is likely that the problem will only be fixed by a total collapse, purge and rebuild of the system. There is simply *** WAY TO MUCH *** power concentrated to a few in Washington. A place where 535 members of the fed-gov supposedly “represent” 320,000,000 citizens. A distributed many-to-many model is what’s needed.)
Crooks and Criminals don’t resign or even turn themselves over to the law. They just keep on doing the illegal things they have always done. I also want him to resign or we should have an impeachment hearing on Obama.
Remember when Hillary said that Obama could not make the 3: AM ‘wake up call’? Well, the burning of the American consulate & 4 dead Americans was the ‘WAKE UP CALL’ that Hillary was referring to about Obma.
obama is a psychopath with megalomaniac and narcissistic tendencies.
It is not possible for him to know and/or understand any guilt or shame of his actions, he can not comprehend that he makes any wrong or ill conceived decisions.
In any words – he never makes mistakes.
If I may add something to this wonderful column it is only the strategic question asked yesterday by Rick Moran:
where was Obama in the seven hours in which the attack on our consulate in Benghazi was known to our local officers and a drone had been deployed to take pictures of what was happening ?
And can you imagine how this extended family of misfits is going trash the White House in anger when they leave?
It’s all good. The U.S. can spent the next four years repairing the damage while Romney turns his various residencies into remote White Houses.
He can rotate between them thus bringing the government closer to the people.
And look at all the JOBS he will create with tours of his “outlying White House residences”!
He’s certainly not going to resign while his life’s work of “socializing” the world’s greatest rogue state (us) is unfinished. And if he does resign, we’d get three months of President Biden. Frying pan to fire, in other words. And if he had any sense of honor he wouldn’t have accepted the Nobel. So, on to the election — and probably massive Dem cheating and a really ugly attempt to hold on to power that will make Bush-Gore look like a stroll in the park.
man you got my blood boiling. F-YOU Roger Simon. Twist this shit to suit your crap agenda. Goddam I can’t believe people can be so awful. Where were you douchebags when the last president was actually engaged in willfully misleading us into war, outing CIA agents, making up new rules to allow for torture. And you have the gaul to accuse this president of offenses far less serious than what W actually did????? SHAME SHAME SHAME
And you have the gaul (sic)
Charles de Gaulle ?
We’ve already established that you’re the poster child for the brainwashed student, the one democrats have been carefully grooming and indoctrinating in America’s public schools for more than 3 decades.
Since the Obama has continued all or most of Bush’s policies, all you “Bush did it” types really need to STFU.
So you must be livid at Obama who has continued most of Bush’s programs and expanded them, drops bombs on suspected terrorists via drone attacks (who knows how many innocent people have been killed) and then ordered the US-NATO effort to overthrow Qadaffi without congressional approval. Or are you livid just at Bush because Obama is a leftist? Get real.
you are correct (for once)
Whoa there Lonnie Wild!!! Before you blow a gasket! Your own “facts” don’t count I’m afraid … but you have a perfect right to be wrong. Watch Syria closely and you may calm down.
See a shrink, you need help.
You dufuss. It’s spelled gall.
byte me
“Where were you douchebags . . .” Know your facts. If our last president was, “engaged in willfully misleading us into war,” then why does the current president say that the “current WMD’s in Syria came from Iraq (and we will protect them). There is a leagal definition for “outing CIA agents.” If it was broken, who was prosecuted? Finally, “making up new rules to allow for torture.” Well these enhanced interrogation techniques (aka waterboarding – oddly, no one has ever died from it) provided the key clue . . . ultimately leading to the death of Bin Laden (you’re welcome President Obama). Make up your mind.
I was taught that only shitheads go for that ‘ends justify the means’ crap
Obama’s “3:00 am phone call” moment came on 9/11 this year yet it took him DAYS to respond and have a “committee” tell him what to do. Then they tried to cover-up (lie to us) by blaming the Middle East riots and the killing of 4 Americans including Ambassador Stephens on a lame movie that few have seen here in the US or overseas. Good thing we are not in a cold war with Russia. Or are we (,Al-Qaeda, Iran, China?). BYW I see that Socialist Putin, Chavez, and Castro all endorsed Obama. Birds of a feather flock together?
And there’s interesting reporting that Chavez is now joining Iran and the Russians in supplying the Syrian government by sending them oil. Interesting little trio, isn’t it.
Being briefed within one hour of the “live feed” attack, the President either went to sleep or went back to sleep.
This has to be the most ridiculous, stupid, dumb story I’ve ever wasted 5 minutes reading. The author hates Obama and then twists the facts and basically lies throughout the whole article. There was Bush and his WMD fiasco, which cost hundreds of thousands of lives in the middle east. Remember, it was bipartisan security budget cuts, led by Ryan, that caused this tragedy. And while Obama could have handled it better, I was pleased to see the administration get the facts first before invading another country or retaliating immediately (See Bush) You don’t like Obama Simon, then vote for Romney, but at least make an effort to write a factual story. And by the way, I’m a Libertarian and support neither the Dems or the GOP, I am making a comment formulated from common sense, something both party’s lack.
I have to agree, the eagerness of Romney and his mindless cohorts here and around the country to use the tragic deaths of four brave Americans for their own crass political purposes is disgusting. They see a cover up simply because they imagine that the whole story is taking “too long” to come out. Too long? The events happened in a chaotic unstable country in North Africa – do these people expect all the facts to be known on day 1? Unlike the previous president who rushes to invade a country before fully figuring out all the facts, then rushed to claim mission accomplished before it was, fortunately this president waits for all the facts before talking. And because of that, the right imagines there is a cover up?
What kind of cover up? Why would Obama try to HIDE that this was a terrorist attack? Generally the American people rally around the commander in chief after Americans have been attacked – Bush used this fact all the time by raising the terrorist threat level before Congressional and Presidential elections. So if Obama had been inclined to manipulate this story, what possible reason would he have for claiming it WASN’T a terrorist attack? The absurd right wing attacks make no sense, except to try and cynically use the deaths of these four men for their own political benefit.
Obama was raised Muslim and he identifies with the aspirations of the Third World. This may be an instance of Obama behaving dishonestly but authentically, as we used to say in the ’60s. Situational ethics it was called at the time. The Benghazi affair is still too opaque to discern precise motives for individual actors, but it is clear that the Obama administration misled the American people for at least two weeks concerning the details of the attack. It is also clear that they have no intention of clarifying matters any time soon.
Jeremiah Wright ADMITS that after he left the Marines that he “dabbled” in Islam.
There is supposed to be a fatwah on anyone that converts FROM Islam.
Obama brags about having lived as a Muslim for five years.
No wonder that he is so comfortable in Reverend Wright’s church. No wonder that he takes the side of the Muslim Brotherhood against a 30-year US ally in Egypt. No wonder that he took the side of the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya. No wonder that he took the side of the religious fanatics against the Green Movement.
In this last debate if Romney doesn’t bring up Obama’s double standard regarding the Green Movement, he deserves to lose this election.
What is the saying? Sitting in church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car. Yet there are people that would claim that Obama is Christian and Romney is not.
Christian or not, Romney is definitely more Christian-ish than OBama is. Obama is much more Muslim-ish than he is Christian-ish.
With the Looming Threat of Food shortages on the Horizon Can you trust this president has the best interests of the American People in his policies , Why Hasn’t President Obama placed More effort into developing this Energy ???
Can you trust this president has the best interests of the American People in his policies or maybe cause he’s just using unsustainable ideas like wind and solar to create a Insolvent end to the Capital system with a Unconvertible debt to equity contract because you hate with envy an economic system that does not allow favors based on ideological perceptions of how society should function ?

And could we use this technology and renewable energy to power and expand the food shortage supply that’s coming, see here , http://personalliberty.com/2012/10/22/food-scarcity-a-ticking-time-bomb/ , to innovate these alternative technologies to Feed the world and bring peace with food like JFK did , http://foodaid.org/food-aid-programs/food-for-peace/ , Where is President Obamas Policies like this that can help people with something REAL ???

Gee whillikers. I post two biographical links from Wikipedia (which is admittedly liberal, but at least not a known source of marketing spam or malware) and get moderated. Tony here throws up half a dozen links to marketing sites of who-knows-what provenance and gets right through. Hmph. :eyeroll:
(Not to say that your information isn’t good, Tony — it might be, or it might not. I won’t know until I check all your links against InterNIC and the Better Business Bureau site before I go clicking on them.)
This is only a good idea if you think Uncle Joe will resign with him. John Boehner is as up to handling the ensuing food fight as anyone. Agree with those who think Obama will have to be forcibly removed from the Oval Office though.
obama is the biggest consumer of obama kool-aid. There is no way he would ever consider resigning. He has no idea how pathetic his last four years have been. It’s not in his DNA to admit failure, remember, it’s all Bush’s fault.
Islamism? Why the ism? Is not Islamism merely Islam taken seriously? The nature of Islam is set in its source books, and cannot change, and woe to those who try from the inside. Islam is the single greater ideology of enslavement in the world today, and affects far more people than the 1 billion directly in its clutches.
But to the main point – this article points to the real issue that makes this election so critical. There is a gaping spiritual divide in this nation. One side consists of pathological humanist liars, the other side has a set of higher ideals and principles. We need to understand that in the public square lies are propagated every day. And when that fact is verboten, the line between the truth and the lie is blurred, and people are misled. We are in a critical struggle for the soul and survival of the nation, and the enemy is so entrenched that the outcome is not assured.
The real question is whether the people will see through the media cover and understand this. The truth is plain for anyone who wants to see it. Just listen to Stephanie Cutter for two minutes, if you can last that long, and you will know that we are in perilous trouble.
Pray for Romney, for he has chosen to confront that foul and fetid snake pit. And God bless him, so far he has done magnificently. Tonight may be decisive.
2Chron 7.14
Should he resign? Yes and No. He screwed up royally and needs to be replaced. However, if he resigns, his replacement would be Biden.
In my 64+ years, this election is by far the most important, with the potential reelection of Baraka-x being by far the worst thing that could happen in 236 of American history!!! If by now a majority of voters can’t see the error that occurred in 2008, the Nation is in big trouble and fiscal/social chaos will be the new normal!!!
Thanks Baraka-x, you worthless schmuck!!!
Kreepy Crawley!
If Obama resigns that would leave Biden in charge. I’m not sure this would be an improvement.
Well, the attack on the World Trade Center caused the somnambulant American public to almost wake up for a year or so. But we went back to sleep in short order. Perhaps when Islam hits New York City with a thermo nuclear blast we will come fully awake. However I warrant the islamists are smart enough to use two EMPs instead. One over Kentucky and one over Nevada and we will not be able to respond.
An EMP attack over Nevada and one over Kentucky, interesting. Are you assuming that the US doesn’t have hardened sites for just that eventuality? And hoe exactly is that attack supposed to effect our overseas bases and out boomers?
it really wouldn’t matter if the hardened sites survived–You and millions of other americans would starve to death within 2 weeks of the attack. The unhardened semi-trucks, cars, trains, and airlanes that you rely on for food would be rendered useless by the Flash of EMP. People living in big cities would be the first to starve and die in such an EMP attack. The fact that our military could or would survive wouldn’t matter a whole lot to the average joe or Jose living in Los Angeles, New York, or Chicago.
Does Obama care? I’m not taking that chance, I’ll vote for anyone but him.
Roger… Forgetting the Marine Barracks debacle in Lebanon during Reagan?
Representing the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States Marine Corps since the Battle of Iwo Jima of World War II, the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States military since the first day of the Tet Offensive during the Vietnam War, and the deadliest single attack on Americans overseas since World War II.
299 American and French soldiers killed.
And Benghazi is the worst? – “the most extreme public mishandling of an attack on American personnel ever, certainly in my lifetime.”
And then we just turned and left.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Beirut_barracks_bombing
Ah yes, the expected liberal, whiny, “Well he did it” defense. The Marines were attacked and not abandoned. Failure to secure their perimeter with the weapons they had was the commander on the ground’s fault. Also, Reagan did not send his entire administration and himself out to lie about it for two weeks.
Reagan followed Weinburger’s advice, and later admitted the weak response was a mistake. But it was an honest mistake by an honest man – and a man who otherwise was exceeding capable on the international stage.
Very much unlike Obama in all respects.
0bama resign? It would certainly atone for his handling of Benghazi, but I don’t see that. In fact, what I see is a refusal to give up office even if he loses.
Yeah, he’s a narcissist of the first order, but it manifests in a specific view of himself as Champion of the People, untrammeled by the laws and barriers set up against Himself by The Forces Of Evil. What’s the requirement for him to step down except a MERE law, especially when the power vacancy is to be occupied by The Ultimate Enemy Of The Planet, Of Mankind, And Of Bunnies?
Probably no october or November “surprise”, but very likely a “January” one.
I think that GWB’s mishandling BEFORE 9/11 was a much bigger catastrophe. Westerners have known for hundreds of years the dangers of playing the “Greatest Game” in foreign lands — it comes with the territory. Plus in the aftermath of 9/11 GWB failed to get OBL at Tora Bora, failed at everything. But what do you expect from the idiot son of an A-hole?
Ah, yes; The “NEW” Smart American”. Lose your binky? Get another at the Obama campaign headquarters nearest you.
…and at fire sale prices too.
Bush, Bush, Bush…GET A CLUE!
Anyone who votes for Obama is a traitor.
He is a liar ala Benghazi “video”, “Keep your doctor”, “no tax increases for middle-class”, forged birth certificates (long and short form), selective service registration, and fraudulent Connecticut Social Security Card, and signed executive order to prevent tax payer dollars for abortion, then forced Catholic hospitals to provide abortafacients and increased funding to Planned Parenthood.
In fact, the only truth he has told is “I want to redistribute wealth”. This of course makes him ANTI-American.
AND ANYONE WHO VOTES FOR HIM IS A TRAITOR!!!
We don’t need Obama to resign. We need the electorate to send him out the back door of the whitehouse in a landslide of repudiation…Obama can leave via the same door he sent the Dahli Lama out–the one next to the stinking garbage cans. (If you remember the big-O or sent the Dahli Lama out that door so as to Appease the chinese.) Mitt Romney won’t appease the chinese.
Congratulations, Roger; Traffic is now backing up from Drudge so much that this page quits loading at times.
Roger Simon:
DREAM ON ROGER !!
The MSM will minimize this whole affair. In fact, I will speculate that the average voter is clueless, CLUELESS, about any controversy at all over the murder of the US ambassador to Libya; if asked, the average voter will just say, “it was a video that sparked the attack.”
The democrats are fully aware of the lack of interest the average voter maintains in matter political; so the dems lie and lie and lie, all covered up by their propaganda arm, the MSM, and the dems get away with it.
When there is NO independent media outlet of national import, the rogues in government can say and do absolutely anything and get away with it. Take a look at the gun running fiasco to mexican drug gangs. Have you noticed? THE ENTIRE ISSUE HAS DISAPPEARED FROM THE NEWS. And so will the murder in Benghazi.
Look at any of the FACTS of today’s economy: the deficit, the debt, number of people on welfare, number of folks out of work, price of gasoline, etc etc. By any OBJECTIVE MEASURE Obama should be DOWN BY 50 POINTS IN ALL THE POLLS.
But he is not? It really is a dead heat. Thus is the power of the media to invent a fantasy world, a lie, that Obama is doing a great job.
In Scotland, Catalonia, the Basque region and Belgium we are seeing the beginnings of citizens fed up with the incompetent, criminally negligent lies of the ruling elites and their propagandists in the media. These people are voting more and more for independence from the ruling elites who, frankly , have destroyed nations.
It WILL happen here in the USA as well as the citizenry sees that our congress, the bureaucracies they have established , our executive and judicial branches and yes, the multimillionaires in our liberal media conspire to enrich themselves at the expense of the citizenry.
It CAN happen here, and it will.
You should check out http://www.inations.com. I think if enough people start and/or join new virtual nations, you might see some serious changes in the world.
This entire fiasco is a manufactured crisis with the American people the losers. Those 4 guys were left to die. I feel so sorry for their families. Obama has been slow walking this since day one. I bet the bad guys or a reasonable facsimile are produced before election day.
Leadership is the ability to influence people to accomplish common goals. Leadership has an ongoing and growing litany of characteristics that contribute to the success of a leader. These characteristics are as important to the follower as the goals themselves. Part of being a leader is ensuring that each person or situation is treated with equally judicious process and that the outcome is beneficial to the overall goals of the many and not the few. This president has failed to recognize this trait because he is placing undue process on the future of our nation by burdening us with debt and social policies that will bankrupt us. He is supposed to be the president of our nation, not the world. He has not been honest with himself or the people of our nation. He goes on leftist/liberal TV shows and claims the deaths of our countryman are not optimal.
His judgment has been clouded with partisan politics and his approach to common sense decisions is based on his ego and power mongering. His third world attitude and sense of redistribution does not match his actions. Proof of this is that he will play golf and frolic with the rich and famous on taxpayer money while people suffer through unemployment and poverty and he does this in spite of the sufferings of his people. He is very undependable and cannot be relied upon to perform his daily duties. It is said that he does not attend his intelligence briefings yet he is the first to throw them under the bus. He has not presided over any legislation that is beneficial to anyone. His prized Obama care will add trillions to our debt and he has been an empty suit where our foreign policy is concerned. He takes credit from others and does not come through with his promises.
It seem as though he lacks initiative in everything but campaigning and shirks responsibility at every turn. He blames others for his short comings and has little imagination on everything except when it comes to being dishonest, and then he is a Master of Lies. Case in point his Libya indictment. He has to be told by others and is or coached to do the right things and needs a teleprompter with words written by others to seem intelligent. He is indecisive and lacks the tact to maintain good relations with his own countrymen but will scrape and bow to Muslims and apologize for America in a heartbeat. If my eyes and ears are correct he has not won any debates because in order to win you have to tell the truth and every time he opens his pie hole a lie comes out.
This president lacks integrity and believes in saying anything to remain in power. His coming lies about his negotiations with Iran should be apparent to the people that with his history of lies this is just another attempt to remain in power by lying. Integrity is the most important part of being a leader. Obama either hides the truth or mixes it with lies. There is no excuse for this lack of respect for your own people that you have to lie to them to cover up your own wrong doing. You have to have the courage to tell the truth and you also have to be unselfish when dealing with people. This president is lacking in all of these leadership characteristics to include his knowledge. Where the issues that concerns the American people he is a post turtle and does not have a clue as to how to fix anything and is only effective at playing us against each other. He is loyal only to those who empower him (the people that put him where he is) and could care less about we the people. It is time for us to stand up and say we will no longer tolerate this evil, callous, man or his cronies and throw them all out of office. It is time, America, to pull together and SHOUT it as one, GET OUT OBAMA and take your cronies with you.
I stole this from another thread on another site
“Obama worshipers won’t probably get this. Romney pointed out that he has executive experience in a state where his party was the minority by a large margin. He said he had to be a leader for both sides to get anything doen”
To suggest that Obama should resign over Benghazi assumes he has an inkling of honor. The fact that he violates his own executive order (and benghazi, and Fast & Furious, and Black Panther voter intimidation) proves without a doubt that he does not.
This commy, half-breed, muslim, illegal-alien, baby-killer should have been impeached years ago, and the fact that he hasn’t is an indictment on the MSM and Republicans alike.
Who is protecting this manchild and why????
I also yield to the knowlegable postings prior on this site.
But would like to ask I guess the obvious.
What I don’t understand is why the Republican congress/senate has not had the balls to start impeachment proceedings prior with regard to: oh, I don’t know, you name it, there are so many things this megalomanic could have been impeached for.
And Mitt failed to bring up, and I hope he does, that Obama has not known what was going on in the Middle East because by not having his daily briefings, By spending too much time on golf courses, partying with celebs, etc… and by he and his wife spending our money with their entourages on vacations.
And yes, he was partying in Vegas while Bengazi was burning, while most of the middle east embassies were under fire.
But then I am still upset with Fast and Furious, and Holder. I am upset with the fact that, yes,I believe he should not be president because I believe he is not a USA citizen. There are too many covered up lies to his past that cause me concern and I am not normally one for looking for coverups. Does this automatically discredit everything I have said?
Only time will tell.
He didn’t build that, Roger, so he can’t resign; his masters won’t let him. The Soros-led cabal that manipulated oil prices through the spring, summer, and fall of ’08 and all but collapsed the US economy in September ’08 expended tremendous sums of money, much of it undoubtedly Middle Eastern soveriegn wealth, and took tremendous risks to install their made-man and his mission isn’t complete.
It would be worth the trip to one of the lower reaches of Hell to have a few smokes and a few shots of vodka while chatting with the old KGB/GRU agent that recruited Grandpa Dunham so many years ago and set this thing in motion. Nothing about Comrade Obama’s life, or the legend that passes for his biography, makes sense unless one views him as simply a piece being moved on the board. If the Republic survives we may one day know whether Frank Marshall Davis really was his father. Whether his mother was a CIA asset in Indonesia or a double agent. How he got in those elite schools, who paid for it, what nationality was he claiming as a student, and what sort of Passport did he use and for what reason did he go to Pakistan. But the people who built him are going to do everything in their power to make sure we never find those things out and the survival of our Constitutional Republic really, really isn’t a part of their agenda.
The only way Obama would resign is if the media would put the pressure on him as they did on Nixon as well as congress moving towards impeachment as they did on Nixon. But, of course, someone like Obama, whom someone has already pointed out is a narcissist, still might not resign.
I do think Congress should begin impeachment proceedings as soon as they have full info on what his role in the cover up is. That would include Joe Biden and on down the line of all involved. It can be done, but I think congress and public opinion via the media need to really step it up. At the debate this should be a major issue. Then again if they get another Obama moderator, it may not.
The Democrats control the senate. Obama could kill a baby on live national television, publicly hand a nuke over to the Iranians, or any other conceivable act and I doubt this senate would impeach or vote to convict him.
Obama the man child. That explains all the bowing to foreign dictators and monarchs.
Americans abandoned in the field to die. Yes, Obama should resign tonight or face impeachment.
So exactly how old IS Roger L. Simon? If the handling of the Benghazi attacks are “the most extreme public mishandling of an attack on American personnel ever, certainly in my lifetime” then he can’t be older than 11 years old! Clearly he is too young to remember the 9/11 attacks, which resulted in the US attacking the right country initially, but then was expanded to involve invading another country by mistake. Considering how either: a) young; or b) factually ignorant Mr Simon is, should he be commenting on foreign policy?
Sorry Charlie but YOU are soft-pedaling as much as anyone. The enemy is not Islamism. What the hell is that anyhow? The enemy is ISLAM! Islamism is what some ignorant people call mainstream Muslims under the canard that so-called “moderate” Islam is the prevailing brand. No, no, no, no and no yet again. The “moderates” are really radicals in the sense that they are a tiny non-influential minority (if even that) and they are trying to make a break with the mainline faith as it has existed for centuries. Islam is the enemy. Islam has attacked us again and again and again for publicly declared reasons of doctrine. They declare modernity to be their mortal enemy and that is us. We have long been at war with Islam. Islam, full stop. Grasp this and we may be on our way to conclusions. Grasp it not and we are not.
Not to minimize the death and infantile coverup of a terrorist attack on American soil that resulted in the murder of 4 American citizens, but this would just be Reason #55 for Obama to resign (if he were a man of morals, responsibility, and trust in his word).
The linguini-spined Congress and knee-pad clad red-lipsticked MSM has already passed on doing anything about:
hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars misspent on a false stimulus passed through lies and deception to voters about knowingly fake shovel-ready projects
hundreds of billions more in taxpayer backed loan guarantees made to Democrat buddy green companies that will never be recovered
a health insurance industry takeover passed by naked payoffs and kickbacks to public officials
questionable access to the President from Union heads and lobbyists
willful skirting of rules surrounding documenting meetings and conversations that should be taking place in the White House but are held offsite
prosecuting whistleblowers as criminals but letting the criminals stay on the payroll
directing his Attorney General to no longer prosecute hate crimes committed on non-blacks
directing his Attorney General to set aside an already-won conviction of black racists for voter intimidation
his administration’s creation and running of the Fast and Furious scandal
if the media weren’t taking turns alternating between bending over in front of and getting down on their knees for Obama, any one of these scandals would’ve resulted in the country forcing Obama’s resignation and possible prosecution.
Remember in November and never vote for a Democrat ever.
Interesting. Liberals always complain about the conservative hoards that come to a site because of Drudge. I’ll bet most of the liberal hoard troll postings have come in from Drudge. Geeze…. I thought you guys hated Drudge and wouldn’t touch it with a 20 ft. “biden”.
Mr. Simon;
You really know how to get the Democrat Sociopaths stirred up pretty good. And to think you’re helping raise the debate viewer numbers, too!
If only Romney had the cojones to make Obama whimper like the little child he really is.
I am sorry to say that I have not read your articles before.
How unusual and refreshing to see truth in print!
Thank you very much!
I look forward to all the reports of mass suicides, on Nov 7th after our President is re-elected. Most of you will be far more productive in the ground anyway.
Haha…better point that weapon at yourself, child. Bathhouse Barry’s gonna lose BIG.
In your dreams, BigT(roll).
Loonie Loonie,
If you had been paying attention the last few years, you would know that the intellengence on Iraq that lead to the war was correct, and that there were many other legitimate reasons for the war beside WMD. http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB254/doc05.pdf
Also, the other policies of GWB enabled by the Patriot act that reduced freedom in this country have been extended and expanded by Obama.
NO reason to bring your foul language to this thread. Bush has been out of office for four years. Time to move on.
HAHAHA, you think that a paper put out by the Blair government, Bush’s poodle, lends objective support to Bush’s war? Thanks for making me laugh!
(Some of) you people are as infantile as the POTUS we correctly vilify. As soon as ANYONE starts talking about the ‘Baby Boomer’ generation, scores of posts come up pro/con, and you get diverted.
THAT IS NOT THE SUBJECT OF THIS POST!! The adults here want to have a discussion relating to the abject failures of this Administration surrounding a terrorist attack on our Consulate in Benghazi; more particularly WHY our military did NOT respond over a 7 hour time frame???????
You want to talk about ‘Baby Boomers’? Open another thread or go to some other site which is discussing that topic.
Resign my butt! That would be getting off too easy! I wanna see that S.O.B. squirm even though Mitt won’t hit him nearly as much as he deserves. Hopefully Bob Schieffer, will have a little bit more journalistic integrity than Candy, and not bail him out and then come back and recant later.
Psychopaths do not experience shame. Obama in not capable of feeling shame. He will not resign. He MUST be removed from power.
Re: “Should O’Bama resign tonight?”
I’m reminded of Romney’s $10-K bet, with the ‘forgetful’ Texas governor, during the republican debate farce…
…How about something more realistic & less rhetoric-laden?
There remain roughly 15 days until this accidental survivor of the late, great, 1 World Trade Center, (by out-sourcing, 6 weeks prior to an outbreak of intolerant.monotheist.piety, circa Sept., 2001), votes…
As one of 310 million landlord-citizens…
I / everyone I hoist an occasional pint-‘O-bitters with will vote to renew Mr. O’Bama & family’s (1600 Penn. Av., Washington, D.C.) tenancy…
15 days is ample time for the Romney/Ryan-camp to put the finishing touches / final sheen on professionally written, (‘ghost-written’, since Romney/Ryan are sittin’, just north, of true illiteracy!), concession speeches!
Let’s reflect on a few things…
Black Americans support Mr. Romney by…0% (booed off the N.A.A.C.P. stage; nervous, inappropriate affect / laughter in response to booing…)
Hispanics: 5-15% (‘Self Deportation’)
College bound: 2-20% (“Ask your parents for a loan!”)
Woman: some measure of ‘NEGATIVE’ % (reproductive health-care issues; contempt for / mockery of rape survivors, aka, barefoot-‘N-preggors…)
The Elderly: 20-25% (privatizing / vouchers, re medicare/medicaid)
American Employees: 5-10% (China investments; Bain Capitol out-sourcing; Detroit bankruptcy editorial; tax shelters; failure to disclose tax data)
Animal Owner-Operators: Shamus, the late, great Irish setter! Will the Romney’s reinforce their Escalade’s roofs, re Rifalqa, their dressage horse?; ([L.M.F.A.O.!]Reminder: there are over 100 million cats/dogs in American households!)
BTW: I haven’t laughed so hard at a ‘political’ circumstance / related issues since ‘Monty Python’ left for syndication!
I’ll concede: I am NOT authorized to speak for 359 former co-workers, vaporized in an outburst of superficial piety, (again…like ‘Romney-Ryan, et-al’s’ superficial piety), circa 11.Sept.’01…
He may believe that the entire outcome of this election is in his hands tonight. He may believe that it is imperative to paint Mitt Romney the way radical leftist ideologues always paint Republican challengers. Dangerous. Out of control. Out of touch. Warmongering. Hates people of color.
Therefore, he must steer the debate into pre-painted corners. He must trap Romney on Iran…leaving the military option on the table…then demagogueing the response as “wanting another war”…to a war weary low info voter.
He must bring up China, forcing Romney to take an aggressive stance against cheating the international trade system…then suggesting that Romney is likely to cause an incident because he is so “greedy”.
He must suggest that Romney is politicizing Benghazi and suggest that more “patriotic” candidates would stand behind their President during an attack such as this.
He must muddle the truth behind a flurry of obfuscations and parsed words, to avoid a direct hit on the aftermath of the Benghazi fiasco.
I expect him to do all this and more. Because the fate of the election may indeed by in…. Bob Schieffer’s ….hands.
Like they did Reagan? What was the reality? Three days in Grenada and a flyover Tripoli. Nothing else in eight years.
Narcissim is not the half of it. Anti-social behavior, such as stealing elections, combined with narcissim, defines clinical psychopathy. We have to get $16 trillion in debt before the responsible American people wake up.
O is completely baffled as to why his pointy headed, textbook, man-made theories about how to govenmentally utopianize our society have not returned on all of the investment of his ilk. They have all tried so hard and been rewarded with troubled, tattered returns. When Moochelle turns the lights out at night… in the darkness he wonders to himself, why? Why isn’t it working – and worse, miserably failing? It doesn’t make sense to him… AND that’s why he’s halfhearted about this campaign. He knows deep down that the core of his convictions… are failing to produce the WORSHIP he longs for. Bengazzi is all of that and more on steroids. He’s afraid. God willing, his “presidency” is toast.
As for labeling things islamic terrorism, I hope romney mentions that the Fort Hood Massacre is still officially classified as “workplace violence”, rather than a terrorism strike, as if Maj Hassan was some disgruntled postal worker, insteade of an el quaida recruit shouting “Allah Akbar” as he murdered his fellow soldiers.
The un-stated problem is worse then the deceipt and coverup.
Why was America and the ambassador in Benghazi in the first place? Even if you accept the highly disputable premis that Qaddafi had to go, what rational person would then assume that the country would become anything less than a cess-pool of radicalism and terror? Sending the ambassador to that place was like sending an unarmed civilian into Stalingrad in late 1942.
There are probably a dozen reasons why the Fraud should resign or be impeached over Libya alone.
“the most extreme public mishandling of an attack on American personnel ever, certainly in my lifetime.”
Unless Roger Simon is 10 years old, which would account for this ridiculous article, or he’s suffering from Alzheimer’s because he clearly has forgotten 9/11.
Hilary Clinton and Obama have now taken “full responsibility” for
the murder of American citizens in Benghazi. It’s easy to take
responsibility for something when there are absolutely no consequences
what-so-ever. If Hilary takes responsibility she should be fired,
immediately and this should follow her, permanently ending any
political future. The problem is that the words no longer has any
meaning to this administration. How many times have we heard this
president take “full responsibility”? To this administration taking
responsibility is merely a term to be used in an attempt to make
further discussion of the topic off limits, putting it in the “that
has been dealt with already, let’s move on” file.
I here by take full responsibility for the economic collapse, the
housing bubble, and for thinking there were WMD’s in Iraq…there, now
obama can’t blame Bush for any of those things because I just took
responsibility for them.
With Bill Richardson (former NM governor) on with Candy Crowley yesterday still presenting the argument that the real story in this mess is Romney’s initial criticism of the shameful Cairo Embassy apology, you want to cry for the stupidity and memes “the left” tries to foist onto the population at large.
I expect Obama might try that lame lifeline tonight, just as he sat on that stool and egged Crowley on that his vague reference to “acts of terror” on September 12 somehow obviated his insistence for two solid weeks that the Benghazi attacks were the product of a video.
Lost in this mess is that Benghazi was very likely ordered by al Zawahiri, at least in part for the assassination by drone (in Pakistan or Afghanistan) of Libyan and Al Qaeda honcho al-Libbi.
Hmm so Obama should resign for Benghazi but 9/11? nah thats OK Bush did a really good job with that one.
Uh… 9/11 came about because Clinton cut and ran in Mogadishu and so Bin Laden was convinced that America was a
Uh… 9/11 came about because Clinton cut and ran in Mogadishu and so Bin Laden was convinced that America was a paper tiger and didn’t have the will to fight, and so that emboldened him to stage attacks for years, each more brazen than the last.
It was the Clinton Administration, namely Janet Reno, that was asleep at the wheel while the 9/11 terrorists were in Florida training for 9/11 because her focus was on a five-year old boy that had committed the crime of bumping Bill Clinton from his rightful place on the cover of TIME Magazine.
HAHAHA, you guys claim the Obama administration always blames things on Bush, yet here you are trying to blame 9/11 on Clinton? So if I understand the right wing mentality properly, everything that happens anywhere in the world, is Obama’s fault if it occurred during his presidency, UNLESS its the killing of Bin Laden, for which no right-winger is willing to give Obama ANY credit? But when a repub is president, somehow the worst terrorist attack in history, AND the botched invasion of the wrong country, somehow NONE of that is Bush’s fault?
You people are hilarious!
Funny, every year it is the same thing, and liberals still do not get it.
On the day of the summer solstice, the sun shines the longest that it does any day of the year. AND the sun is the most direct overhead that it will be any day of the year, and yet… for some reason, it is hotter in August, when there are fewer hours of sunlight and the sunlight is less direct. There is a DELAYED effect on the sun, and we see it every summer, and every winter, and in fact every day, because it is always hotter at 3 or 4 PM than it is at noon when the sun is directly overhead.
HOWEVER, having lived in Miami for many a year, I can attest that when there is a hurricane coming, that people will evacuate AHEAD of time (unless they are Democrats living in New Orleans).
Bush had to deal with both the delayed effects of the Clinton Administration AND the panic in face of the imminent disaster which is the Obama Administration.
Frist there was LBJ.
MACVSOG units sent LBJ and his photos of small Russian made T-36 tanks from just across the S. Viet border in Laos prior to the NVA over running the Special Forces camp at Lan Veigh S. Vietnam just east of Key Sanh Marine base.
When the NVA did cross in mass into S. Vietnam and did attack the Lan Viegh camp LBJ had the I-Corps Marine leadership on such a short leash they refused the Special Forces guys who had re-treated to the new Navy Seabee bunker that the NVA with the T-36 tanks could not over run/destroy , even on top of the bunker with the tanks spinning around and around.
I-Corp commander at the time Gen. Cushman refused to allow Col. Lowders at Kye Sanh to send help.
So, Gen. Westmoreland had to get in his command helo fly to Da Nang and in Gen. Cushmans face give a direct order to send help from Kye Sanh.
What goes on now is just more of the same from the Democrat Party, only thing that has changed is where the shit goes down and the names and dates on the tombstones.
But for traitor Democrat John F. Kerry getting voted down it would have been more and worse prior.
obama is depressed because the thrill is gone and he resents what the White House represents and looks forward to getting out of there. His handlers will do anything and everything to keep The Messiah in the White House and obama is not a leader but a follower. obama is willingly handled by his like-minded leftist handlers. Obama wants out to be a world celebrity who is adored and worshipped without being held accountable.
I am happy to see that the trolls have come back : it means they know they are losing big on this theme.
It will keep growing. Those seven hours with the drones transmitting the images of the Benghazi massacre (to whom exactly ???) and the alleged Commander in Chief busy organizing his trip to Vegas cannot be deleted from history. Dereliction of duty…
Well, after reading all this nasty commentary, I need a shower. You people need to take those aluminum hats off your heads and get back on your meds.
“DECISIONS FOR OBAMA’S LAST DAYS”
[Private and personal questions for every democrat federal employee and staffer + all military personnel: Whatever your location; however high or low your station; whatever your rank or power.]
We’ll admit that you had a h#ll of a run
That you gave it your “very best shot”
We’ll assume you believed when you started,
That Obama was something he’s not.
We’ll concede “arguendo”* that your motives were pure
We’ll trust, for the moment, your vow,
That all those “ideal” plans, schemes, and demands,
Were intended to help us…somehow.
But those glorious “hopes” are now victims,
To a history both costly and grim,
(Privately, you’ll still deny your “savior’s” a lie,
And our nation’s imperiled by him.)
We don’t ask that you renounce your “master”,
We’d as soon ask the leopard change spots.
But we have gotten so close to “crunch time”
THAT SOME QUESTIONS ARE NOW BURNING HOT:
1. If you are asked to violate your own oath or promises of office, “for Obama”, will you?
2. If you are asked to violate rights and rules of our CONSTITUTION, “for Obama”, will you?
3. If you are asked to conceive of, carry out, support, or hide any act reasonably deemed illegal under existing law, “for Obama”, will you?
4. SPECIAL QUESTION FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL OF ALL PARTIES: If you are in the military, do you support the “rule of law” concepts underlying http://oathkeepers.org/oath/
* Arguendo = Hypothetically; for the purpose or sake of argument. A term used to assume a fact without waiving the right to question it later on.
Alternatively phrased, between now and January 21, 2013 (inauguration day) when Romney & Ryan are sworn in, are you so personally committed to Barack Obama (whether you are a White House staff member; a Member of Congress; a photo copy expert; or …whatever) that his demand to retain power would compel you to violate the law, including the Constitution.
Romney’s questions will be about starting new wars, shooting from the hip, and torture. Obama’s questions will have talking points about all of his supposed accomplishments.
Gauranteed Romney will TRY to address American critical issues; Obama will try to describe ALL of Romneys most intricate policies ad nauseum, to deflect from his own <NO PLAN AGENDA OF THE LAST FOUR YEARS.
What I’d love to hear tonight:
Scene: The Brit House of Commons, May 1940. After a string of military and naval disasters were announced, Conservative MP Leo Amery famously attacked Chamberlain’s government, quoting Oliver Cromwell:
You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!
In the name of God, President Obama, go!
Ah, those Brits! They sure have a way with words.
If only this would happen. I would literally weep for joy.
Well said. I cannot agree with you more.
Obama is an Emperor with no clothes.
The audience sees through him while he preens in delusion, loving the sound of his empty words.
He senses that he didn’t build himself (affirmative action did that).
These people are not journalists, they’re OPERATIVES for the Commie sociophaths. Anyone with a conscience would not be able to continue this long in support of the anti-American in the WH. Only and operative could lie to the American people day after day.
You have no reason to believe me, but yesterday I had the same thought that Obama should resign based on the Benghazi debacle.
We encouraged the removal of strong man Mubarak, and we now have the Muslim Brotherhood working to re-instate sharia “law”. (technically, that’s sharia “cruelty, greed & manipulation”) And Egypt is kissing up to Iran to get a piece of that soon to be operational nuclear device.
The girlz in Obamaland talked him into deposing another despotic guy, Q-Daffy, in the name of using American power to effect “good” on the planet, and we now have Al Qaeda groups infesting the place, mostly eastern Libya at this point, and a weak government in Tripoli not capable of stopping them.
Now we’re supposed to arm “the rebels” in Syria, problem is which of the zillions of groups invading the place are user friendly? And which vicious and violent groups will take over any hardware we send? “Assad has to go” says Hillary. (early in 2011, Hillary referenced Assad as a “reformer”) Assad has to go so Islamic extremists can add more territory, another notch in their belts ?
Add on the “good war” of Obama’s 2008 campaign, the one we’ve promised to abandon in short order…
Somebody should resign. At least Hillary. She took the “fall” on this one, claiming to be the responsible party, yet there are no consequences.
Why is everyone still calling Obama, “Obama” or “Barack” or “BHO”? Did he not say in reference to Mitt using his middle name, “I wish I could use my middle name.”? C’mon can’t we give him this one little wish? http://offthefbwall.wordpress.com/2012/10/19/mr-president-hussein-you-want-hussein-you-get/
Romney should come out and bow. Then say “And that’s the LAST time you’ll see me do THAT!
If only Romney would read your post.
Yep!
CIA chiefs face arrest over horrific evidence of bloody ‘video-game’ sorties by drone pilots By DAVID ROSE PUBLISHED: 18:30 EST, 20 October 2012
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2220828/US-drone-attacks-CIA-chiefs-face-arrest-horrific-evidence-bloody-video-game-sorties.html
Wouldn’t it be great if Obama were to open the debate with this:
“My fellow Americans(words I’ve never heard him utter) I come before you tonight having made mistakes in the handling of the tragic events that recently occurred in Benghazi, Libya, which resulted in the deaths of four Americans. My administration wrongly tried to cover up what actually happened and moreover, tried to mislead America, and the world, into thinking that my foreign policy is working. It is not. Therefore, I hereby resign the Presidency . . . . . Wait a second – that would make Biden President! To use the immortal words of Emily Litella . . . never mind.
On “retirement”, Obama will get something like $191,000/year for life, not including secret service protection.
Obama berates Romney for certain investments and offshore accounts, whereas Obama’s own investments are virtually the same.
The holier-than-thou phony David Axelrod has all kinds of self-enrichment deals going on. All these hypocrites do, this cabal of “progressives” sucking in the gullible by attacking “wealth” in the name of “fairness”.
They’ve turned fairness into a dirty word.
The only operative question 2 weeks from tomorrow is which percentage of the American population still falls for any of this crapola.
This Benghazi mess and the gun running have me somewhat puzzled about the people who know exactly what happened. Is there not at least one person in each of these scandals who has the hard evidence and is not afraid to come forward? Is everyone corrupt? How is it that no one will stand up and tell the real story? This is puzzling, because my simple common sense tells me that both events are portrayed by lies, lies, lies.
I giggle hysterically when I read the tripe you folks put out. If you think the the Boomers are the problem and you’re a Boomer…off yourself. Set an example. If you’re not up to that then you’re all talk, no action.
“Islamism” is a made up word. The problem is ISLAM. Let’s have the courage to say it.
***
“What I’d like to hear is Barack Obama resigning over Benghazi, the most extreme public mishandling of an attack on American personnel ever, certainly in my lifetime.”
Wouldn’t that be glorious? How he has not been impeached over this is beyond me. And yet Republicans/conservatives won’t push for it. They are simply too cowardly.
“it’s hard to believe we will see the same dumb show in 2016. If we do, shame on us.”
After 2008, I find it incomprehensible we saw it this year. Shame on us now.
The League of American Sociopaths (aka Democrat/Liberal/Progressive/Communists) is doing it’s best to overwhelm this site with their trash traffic. Looks like they’re having a problem.
Obama wants us to look at him and Romney, compare and decide.
1. Romney is a self made man. He gave away his inheritance and made his fortune on his own.
Obama was handed his by others who did the work for him.
2. Romney has degrees from Harvard that are not hidden from public scrutiny.
Obama can’t say that.
3. Romney did not hid his passport.
Obama had to.
4. Romney makes no effort to hide his real religious convictions.
Obama does.
5. Romney has moral convictions.
Obama doesn’t.
6. Romney has vast experience in business and taking troubled businesses and turning them around.
Obama has never even run a lemonade stand and wants to tell us he knows what businesses need.
7. Romney has a healthcare plan to his credit that is only 72 pages long.
Obama has one to his credit that is 2,700 pages long—-why the big difference???
8. Romney has been successful in nearly all his endeavors and personifies hard work.
Obama is flat lazy and depends on blame to cover this up.
9. Romney has proven leadership qualities.
Obama doesn’t.
10. Romney surrounds himself with people with character.
Obama has surrounded himself with questionable characters.
Yep, Obama wants us to compare qualifications and then decide.
Why was Obama ever elected in the first place???
This year make a liberal pundit cry and vote republican.
This time – ELECT AN AMERICAN!!!
Would be nice, but don’t hold your breath. Obama craves the power over us, and won’t go quietly into the night.
Romney/ryan
What is more troubling than our criminal el Presidentè is the electorate that voted him into office and is still supporting this evil man, intent on destroying America and with it, the world. How naïve, how self-centered, how ignorant can one be to support this shallow excuse for a leader. I am truly frightened for my children and grandchildren that they will continue to live with these fools who are presumably creating more fools every day.
Rog, come on … Your self aggrandizing hogwash only attracts the Obama haters who look for anything as cover for their racism. You cite this as the wrist example? How about your intellectual biddy dub-yuh and his lies leading us into an unnecessary war that cost some three trillion dollars and tens of thousands of lives. A terrorist attack in Bengazi,
While perhaps not handled well in the aftermath, does not put the blame at this president’s feet … It was still a terrorist act, mr. Would-be journalist.
You are right that the Benghazi killings were a terrorist act. So why does the President refuse to say so?
Resign? Nobama should never have been elected. Done so only because he is black and more welfare was expected. Experienced only as a talker-liar. Has accomplished nothing positive in four years. No budget which is required. $16 plus trillion in debt with laws already on books to make debt much more. Overrun with aliens with a high unemployment rate. NOmo’ has been a complete disaster.
You Regressives are getting desperate. It’s causing unhinged reactions like this piece of nonsense.
Did you people ask Reagan to resign after his total mishandling of the Tripoli operation, against professional advice, which resulted in 241 dead US Marines and 83 dead people associated with the State Department? Or did you demand that he be impeached after Iran-Contra?
Guess having a BLACK man in your White House makes a big difference.
Huh? Tripoli? We had no diplomatic connection with Libya during Reagan. We didn’t have any Marines in Tripoli.
Mind reading is too great a talent to waste in a comments section.
Should Barack Obama Resign Tonight?
No, because those sent mad by the Gods must complete their act before their spectacular demise…
He’d never resign. My fear is that even if he loses the election, this narcissistic man-child will desperately cling to office and power using every dirty trick and litigating resource at his disposal. It’s sad, as this could have been a (positive) history-making administration. Instead, history has once again borne true, the oppressed have become the oppressors, those who were victims of racism have become the virulent racists, and the left can’t bear to admit that the first media-annointed, unqualified, community organizing, marxist Presidency has been an epic fail.
This was a worse mishandling than invading the wrong country in response to 9/11 and getting 5000 Americans killed?
Partisan double standard, maybe?
Wrong country? The Taliban were harboring Bin Laden. There were in Afghanistan. We “invaded” Afghanistan immediately after 9/11
And then we invaded Iraq based on a mistake. But of course all you people want to sweep the deaths of thousands of Americans and the waste of billions of US taxpayer dollars under the rug because you believe in one standard for the person you voted for, and a completely different standard for our current President. The deaths of thousands of Americans means nothing to you, but somehow you wrap yourselves in the flag and claim outrage based on the deaths of four. Hypocrisy, thy name is Obama-hater (since so often you guys deny that you are republicans…)
Obama & Clinton REFUSED to Protect our U.S. Ambassador in Libya who REPEATEDLY BEGGED for protection. They have blood on their hands.
Bible, Genesis 4:10: And God said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.”
Who can be safe when they refuse to even help our ambassadors?
This halfbreed has succeeded in racially dividing America to the point that it is unrepairable. In Dread/Scott days those in slavery were counted as 3/5th a man. Now radicals in the black community, (isn’t that a shame in and of itself) seek to remove themselves from American society. In effect being culturally 3/5th an American citizen.
You use terms like halfbreed and then blame Obama for racially dividing America? Yet when people accuse Obama-haters of being racists, you whine and moan and complain that the accusation is unfair? The despicable views of the Obama-haters are plain for all to see – the man could cure cancer and the right wing would still call for his impeachment and accuse him of hating America for not curing heart disease! Pathetic, truly pathetic. But also highly revealing…
Slave owners wanted slaves to count as 5/5 of a man. Think about that before you post such rubbish.
Roger,
Dream on, He will never resign. Hussein O and every American Socialist i.e Democrats have no shame or class. Only people with pride and integrity give up power voluntarily. Nixon was threaten with impeachment for the same crime John Kennedy committed before him but his integrity and class allowed him to walk away from power. Compare to Nixon Hussein O is by far the most corrupt guy who ever reside in the WH.
Roger’s reaction would be true for most people, but NARCISSISTS believe they are incapable of screwing the pooch, regardless of reality, and you’ll die of thirst or old age waiting for 0blamea to accept responsibility or feel any shame…
Not just an undergraduate. He’s a perpetual college sophomore impressed with his radical professors. His thinking has never progressed beyond that mark.
Resigning would be an admission of responsibility. Never happen.
Good posting Roger, but even you pull your punches at the end. “Islamism” is not our enemy. The name of our enemy is…ISLAM.
Stay focused, people. End this disastrous presidency.
Obviously this author was not born when we lost so many in Beirut, and I suppose he was asleep for 9/11 and Abu Grab. Benghazi was a tragedy, nothing more.
He should be thrown in jail for MURDER.
All you ignorant wingnuts talk amongst yourselves where you alone may understand your views of the world based on historical misconceptions, bankrupt political ideologies and frankly unrelenting stupidity. Is this mental masturbation fun for you folks? I can see no other reason to waste the the time it takes to read this – which I have just done for the first and last time.
Trying your hand at trolling for the first time? (Hard to believe though). Is it fun?
Flash for you ignorant lefty punk; lefty and smart are not synonyms no matter what your professors told you. Now trot on back to Kos or one of the other lefty cesspools of mind-numbed stupidity and tell the other stupid punks how you spoke truth to power or some such masturbatory crap.
If Obama would just resign and give back the money
Untold MILLIONS could be used to help real people in need.
Think about it….if Obama gave back the remaining funds,
Romney could take this millions remaining and give those to charity or
put them against the deficit as well.
Its over for Obama and they know it.
If Obama cared about the people he would drop out tonight.
To be able to feel personal shame and responsibility, one first has to have integrity and personal honor. The current occupant of the Oval Office has neither of those things.
What a partisan asshole Roger Simon is, making partsian hay of this. Shame on you.
A United States President lies to the American people for 2 solid weeks (knowing that his MSM sycophants will carry his water as they’ve done for the duration) and you don’t have a problem with it ?
Speaking of partisan assholes, I think “a” is a winner.
I sure as hell hope “b” doesn’t chime in.
Hi Michelle. Got the silverware packed yet?
Barry has taken lying and always blaming someone else to a new higher level rather than admit his failures. All politicians lie but Barry is the champion, and deserves no respect. He would rather climb a tree to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth.
Resign over Behghazi? Nahhh! Why should he? He has the protection and support of socialists from all over the globe. There is already enough evidence against Barack and his past actions that conflict with national policies and security. If this nation hasn’t brought him to trial by now, Benghazi won’t do it. Benghazi is slim pickens by comparison. Besides, O’s ego would never let him admit deceipt or failure let alone resign over it.
Guess you wankers haven’t seen the news, the cia told the white house the wrong info at least until the 22. How’s that hatey feary thing working out for ya?
Now, that’s just a mean and disrespectful comment, little boy. Shame on you!
“As long as a black person holds the presidency, there will be no rest in America.”
Wow, Roger, your article has attracted some real bottom feeders!
You seem surprised? These are your fellow-travelers…
Where are you getting that? You even put it in quote marks!! Mr. Simon never said that, or anything like it.
Buzz off.
I have his resignation speech all written for him free of charge so all someone has to do is feed it into his teleprompter.
Good evening subjects. I mean, um, ah, my fellow Muslims. I mean, um, ah, my fellow Americans. I am hereby resigning from the office of your God, I mean, um, ah your Supreme Ruler. I mean the, um, ah, Presidency. [Be sure to scratch your nose with your middle finger]. I will spend some of my remaining time on Earth trying to forgive myself for making Kenya, I mean, um, ah, Venezuela, I mean, um, ah, America worse off when I could have made, um, ah, America better off with the same effort and I will spend the rest of my life living in a hut with my half-brother whats-his-name in Kenya studying the Holy Qur’an. I mean, um, ah, studying golf, I mean, um, ah, studying horticulture. Allah willing. I mean, um, ah, God bless you. [Be sure to scratch your nose with your middle finger again]
I am hereby resigning from the office of your God, I mean, um, ah your Supreme Ruler. I mean the, um, ah, Presidency.
Resigning from the Caliphate, dude’s welcomed nearly as many members of Islamist groups at the White House as he has union guys, like the charming Andy Stern, formerly of SEIU.
A Red Carpet for Radicals at the White House
Get out of here, racist troll.
Something got disarranged. My comment #184 and Bobbcat’s #183 were in reply to a moby upthread posting as “Hickory Stonewall”:
