Corollary: Respondents are more responsive to negatives than positives. Even after the GOP picks a candidate, and the GOP-on-GOP attacks stop, this is going to be a vicious campaign. And Obama has the melanin advantage. The GOP candidate will be walking on egg shells.
Dont you get it yet? Your O is an angry bastard with dreams OF an angry father both of whom intend to pay you back for any and all perceived injustices. Recall o’s first activity when he stormed the WH. it was to give back the statue if Winston Churchill to England.
I don’t have the slightest idea what her domestic politics are – does anyone? I kind of need to know that before putting her on a ticket. West, Jindal, Fortuño I know of and like (more than any of the duds campaigning for the top slot.
On foreign policy, I know she was quite pro-Israel before she took office and for most of both terms, but at the end she seems to have been “assimilated” by the State Department. Also, she still defends the Iraq war – quite successfully I might add – and that puts her opposite a large part of the country (not myself, though).
My the way, I saw the PJTV interview with West, and his foreign policy knowledge was impressive. No lightweight he.
Old Soldier, she’s basically a liberal except on the 2nd Amendment. As far as I have been able to determine, that is the ONLY issue on which she’s conservative. On everything else, she’s center to left of center.
I’m not so sure. She and her family are shining examples of the good old American principle of meritocracy. She worked hard, excelled in everything she put her mind to. She became Secretary of State. I cannot see her favoring handouts for all. It is interesting by the way, that left-wing blacks barely mention her. That speaks volumes, no?
A Santorum Rice ticket? You must be joking. You think Condi would play second fiddle to a misogynst who thinks her only role in his administration is to be barefoot abd pregnant and her only position should be prone? Hoo wee do you not get Condoleeza Rice! I bet she votes Obama, myself.
> “You think Condi would play second fiddle to a misogynst who thinks her only role in his administration is to be barefoot abd pregnant and her only position should be prone?”
No – but fortunately, none of the Republican candidates (or the listed non-candidates for that matter) think that, either, so she’d be fine.
It’s almost as if Teh Stupid is concentrating itself in this state…
Flash, I’m a former Californian and a one-time geology major, so I think I can explain it to you.
It’s plate tectonics. The North American plate is tilted. It’s higher in the north and east, so over time, all the loose nuts and flakes accumulate in California.
What it tells me is, if they have the opportunity to pit Obama against a candidate where they won’t be perceived as racist, if they vote for him, it’s even. If it’s anyone else, they’re reluctant to be called racist but my gut tells me you can add at least 5 points to the Republican, when the curtain goes around the voting booth.
I don’t believe you can get an honest poll on Obama because he’s called so many people racists since his election that some people won’t say they’re not voting for him, because they don’t want to be perceived as racist, even though they really aren’t voting for him, so they’ll be undecided or say they’re going to vote for him. Even some Democrats, who aren’t the die-hards, have to be shaking their heads at the things he’s done and the people he’s called racist.
Last night Santorum said he voted “for” some things that he thought were the wrong thing to do…but “took one for the team”, and sorta giggled/smiled like “oopps caught”…that sealed it, we will not be voting for him. We want a candidate that has a spine.
A candidate that votes for what he or his state truly believes is right, NO matter how the others vote. Alas…:(that means at this point we will not be voting.
None of these guys, NONE, will beat Obama. I find it terrifying to think that the GOP has nothing better to offer
Rice isn’t going to run…pipe dreams…
Except for that little part of the First Amendment that states “Congress shall pass no law”. You are correct that you have the God-given right to spout all the foolish nonsense that you wish. The rest of us also have that same God-given right to tell you to shut the H up if you didn’t vote you have no moral right (does the logic work better for you if I say “moral right”?) to complain about who gets elected.
Apparently you’re not too upset with the Obama regime; otherwise, you would move heaven and earth to see him removed from office. Your plan to not vote will fit nicely into Obama’s plans to destroy the nation.
Not voting because you don’t like the Republican choice is a really bad move. Unless you like Obama, that is. That goes for all the Ron Paul supporters who say they won’t vote if Dr. Paul doesn’t get the nomination, too. Same can be said for anyone who wants to vote for Trump on a third party. Like it or not, the only person who can defeat Obama is the Republican nominee even if he isn’t your favorite.
Correct. On top of that, it’s not like the Presidential candidates appear on a separate ballot from everything else. It’s the top of the ticket but there are plenty of other reasons to get out the vote. There is NO EXCUSE for not voting, period. Sitting at home is a passive vote in favor of the status quo, which leaves the Senate in the hands of Harry Reid and the White House in the hands of Barack Obama.
Anybody who doesn’t like what Obama has done in his first term needs to always be aware that the second term will be twice as bad.
One way to look at it is this: which is worse: 4 more years of Obama or 8 more years of Obama-Lite? If the former, the Republicans (or some new party?) can put up a good candidate in 2016. So we get a real reformer in 4 years instead of 8.
Yes, he admitted that he “took one for the team,” and backed then Sen. Arlen Specter. For that, Specter, who was head of committee that selects Supreme Court Justices, selected an absolutely Conservative Justice. Specter also influenced the Senate to vote for Alito and he was confirmed as a result.
Anne, you only got half the story, please look into Specter’s last Supreme Court Justice backing, Justice Alito.
Sure, it was “politics,” these guys don’t play tiddly-winks. More important at the time was making sure we got a real Conservative Justice on the SC!
Picture how the Supreme Court would look now if other than a Conservative was named to the vacancy. Remember, Obama has already named two very left-wing Judges since he became President.
As it turns out,Judge Alito balances the SC towards Conservatism, by one vote.
Washington machinations surprise us, the people who like to believe in sugar n spice and everything nice. We have to face the fact that Capitol politics is not Utopia. Santorum had a tough choice to make, but for that excellent Supreme Court Justice Alito, I’m glad Santorum “took one for the team.” SC Justices are lifetime appointments, know what I mean?
Anne, ignore the ankle biters. When they cannot sufficiently distinguish their own big-government, big-spending, socialist candidates from Obama, they like to blame everyone else for the problems they and Obama have caused.
Dave: I am the first to say, and have been saying since at least ’09, that our country would not be so mired in socialism as it is now if it were not for the ‘other’ party, the Republican Party, which has behaved these past 40 years, not as the opposition party, but as the “pick the crumbs from the floor” party, the enablers, the POWER SHARERS — when it is their turn at the helm. I spit them all out. Would that we’d be blessed with a REAL conservative as speaker, instead of the wimpering, simpering appeaser we have now in the person of Boehner.
But alas, the truth of the matter is that the media — in large part — shapes the message; the truth of the matter is that the public-school educated, addicted to the Hollywood narrative, populace could care less about the issues before us, as long as they are not disturbed in their quest for ‘fulfillment,’ entertainment, and ‘freebies’ — taken from their fellow citizens.
These people have NO discernment, have NO ability to understand that behind all the nice-sounding phrases they hear — from the MSM and from their man in the oval — mean exactly the opposite of what they think it means. For example, Obama ” . . . speaks of our ability to innovate, to take care of ourselves, to care for our neighbors, to remain a people of faith, to be a force for good. What he means by all of these things is that faith in government is what makes us great, that the Federal government is the reason we can put our pants on in the morning, though of course people hear the exact opposite.” (See today’s amnation.com/vfr)
But our choices are limited now, circumscribed, by forces outside of our control. We must do the best with the hand we’ve been dealt. One thing I know for certain, this nation cannot survive another four years of Obama; we cannot survive Obamacare. We can either take up arms now, or continue to work through the legal means available to us to end this Marxist nightmare.
Do you remember what happened in 2010 in Delaware, Nevada and Connecticut? The GOP could’ve gained control of the Senate if not for attitudes like yours. By insisting in promoting the most radical candidates you are simply making sure for the Dems to sweep the elections in 2012.
Every politician must compromise at some time in his career. We can’t always have everything our way.
The question is, WHAT did he compromise? Was it a critical issue? OR not? MANY bills come up which are NOT critical.
I have a hard time believing that Santorum compromised any core principles. I’m not a fan of his, but spine? Yeah, he’s got it.
If the only politician you’ll vote for is one who NEVER compromises, let me save you some trouble: Just stay home. There’s never going to be a candidate who meets your criteria so you might as well just ignore politics and enjoy life.
If we are just using our imagination, how about a Rice/Palin ticket? Ms. Rice doesn’t need to take a back seat to anyone. In fact, she is head and shoulders above any of the remaining Republican contenders. She would excite the conservative base. And Palin would motivate the base. Any attack from the OBozo Camp looks sexist. Palin has gotten better in the last four years and she wouldn’t overshadow her running mate. (Her biggest problem last time.)
I can see Condi teamed up with a couple of different people. But she should be at the top, whomever her running mate is.
What’s he winning? What has he won? The only vote that counts is the one in November anyway.
The Tea Party didn’t start because of religious or social issues and those aren’t the reasons for the election results of 2010. So if the opposition to Obama wants to be base itself on a platform of social conservatism then, like I said, good luck with that.
Surely you can’t be serious. Lt Drebin is right. Most people fear social intolerance more than they fear fiscal irresponsibility. The negative impact on their lives is seen more clearly in the former.
I think Santorum has reached his high point in the polls and will begin to fall. He rose in the first place because he was the only not-Romney that hadn’t been vigorously attacked and vetted yet. Once voters find out about his radical social conservatism, combined with his “take one for the team” squishiness on fiscal conservative issues, his support will fade.
I think it will be hard for Tea Party voters to vote for a Bush 2 style “compassionate conservative” earmarker, and big spender, who suported the traitor Arlen Spector, just because he is a rabid conservative on socon issues that the Tea Party is officially neutral on. And Santorum has publically stated that he hates libertarians, a core of the Tea Party, and a vital independent constituency as well. Like 2010 this is a fiscal conservative election, and Santorum will just give Obama the opening he needs to change the issue from Obamas abysmal fiscal policies, to devisive socon issues.
Romney is not that exciting, but he strikes me as a real fiscal conservative, who will at least control spending, and repeal Obamacare. I think he can appeal to independents as well, especially libertarian independents. And Romney is not perceived as a radical socon, despite being a standard conservative on most social issues, so it will be harder for Obama to change the subject to socon issues in his case. That is enough for me.
Forget about the brokered convention fantasies, and magic late entries, wont happen.
Mind you, I would still vote for Santorum over Obama, but I know lots of libertarians who will not, even ones that voted repub in droves in 2010. I agree with others that getting a repub Senate is at least as important as winning the presidency, and a very doable goal.
As for gays, the politicians (including POTUS) needs to keep their bloody noses out of how the military deals with this. Abstinence? Why should the government stick it’s nose into your sex life? Abortions: That’s pretty touchy, and the Feds have no business in it. That’s for individual states to decide, and the SCOTUS to back them up. Forcing insurance for contraceptives from religious institutions? That’s called the separation of church (religion) and state. Keep your bloody nose out. If an employer doesn’t want to include that item in insurance THE EMPLOYER is paying for, get another job.
Only one candidate has consistantly stuck by his guns for the past 20-30 years, and he’s not electable. AND, to top it all off, why are these ninnies on liberal networks being presented with liberal questions that won’t come up in the “REAL” election?????
Yeah, I’d like to see Roe overturned, too; the federal government had no right to stick its big butt into the abortion business. It’s best left to the states, like it was before.
Except that that’s not how it really was. Those were lies made up to sell the legalization of abortion. Another word for it is, “propaganda”.
Almost all illegal abortions were performed by doctors in private clinics. The “back alley abortionist” is a lie. The FOUNDER of NARAL, Bernard Nathanson, tells of how he and his cohorts laughed as they MADE UP the ‘statistics’ and fed them to the news media in order to win public support.
Then he watched a live sonogram of a baby being aborted. He watched the baby screaming as it was cut up.
“If an employer doesn’t want to include that item in insurance THE EMPLOYER is paying for, get another job.”
Uh, no. The employee is paying the premiums for their health insurance policy. They have a reasonable expectation that the policy will cover the medical products and services that they require and need. The Catholic church does not get to dictate what the policy the employee pays for includes as a condition of employment. They do not get to force their morals on those who do not share them as a condition of employment. Got it?
“They do not get to force their morals on those who do not share them as a condition of employment.”
“Morals”? “Morals” What Me Wonder? Well, maybe power over those who do not see things in the “Proper Way”.
“Force”? And this –
“The employee is paying the premiums for their health insurance policy.” Repeat –
“The employee is paying the premiums for their health insurance policy.”
Well, then opt out of “Woman Hating Plan” and use those premiums to purchase another plan. Pay more? Form your own enterprise with other of like mind. Can’t? Why? Government Regs in the way? Or just too whatever…
Pro-choice and pro-woman means you’re for abortion on demand except for the thought crime of gender-selection abortion; that is, you can’t choose to prefer sons over daughters. It’s working out great in Londonistan, I hear.
This would help explain her ahistorical habit of linking the civil rights movement to the Bush administration’s effort to bring democracy to Iraq and Afghanistan [and presumably Egypt, Libya and Syria, etc.] . Indeed, in a 2003 speech to the National Association of Black Journalists, she argued that blacks, more than others, should “reject” the “condescending” argument that some are not “ready” for freedom. “That view was wrong in 1963 in Birmingham and it’s wrong in 2003 in Baghdad,” she said. In 2006, she made a similar point. “When I look around the world and I hear people say, ‘Well, you know, they’re just not ready for democracy,’ it really does resonate,” Miss Rice told ABC’s Katie Couric. “It makes me so angry because I think there are those echoes of what people once thought about black Americans.”
There’s something shockingly provincial at work here. In seeing so much of the world through an American prism of race, Miss Rice has effectively blinded herself to historical and cultural and religious differences between Islam and the West. To put it simply, neither Baghdad nor Gaza is Birmingham. And nothing in all of history quite compares to Philadelphia.
Too bad this poll was done BEFORE last night’s debate. I’ll bet the #s would be diff. this a.m.
I know this is gonna get me slammed on here, but as an indie I’ve *always* loathed the sanctimonious Santorum. I don’t give much of a diddley-dang about social issues, and we certainly can’t afford to focus on that during this pres. election! (Pls. note I’m NOT talking about political ideology; that is indeed important. But if one’s ideology is driven by placing religion uber alles, there’s no reason to believe one won’t govern exactly the same — and that’s an uh-oh.)
Until now, Santorum did nothing but complain during these debates he didn’t get enough time/questions. Now he’s finding the white-hot spotlight of frontrunner status to be more than a little disconcerting. Voters are finding out more about him too, that they might have not known before. Having said all this, if he’s the nominee, I’ll STILL vote for him over Obamination.
That’s just crazy-talk. Why, look at the poll numbers! It’s obvious that social conservatism is dying out due to its high birth rate. No one wants traditional values except people who vote against gay marriage in all those states where the referendums pass, only to be overturned by our wise overlords in the 9th Circus Court (like that conservative bastion, California for example). We need to make the Catholic Church pay for contraceptives so out-of-wedlock births will continue to decline from those awful days before condoms and the Pill were paid for by insurance companies because mumblemumble social conservatives are racistbigothomophobeswhowantGrandmatodie. Oh and conservatives want to force liberals to reproduce so liberals can continue to dominate elections with their demographic awesomeness.
Plus the SoCons are pushing legislation supported by the Pork Lobby that would require everybody to buy 1 ham per week. You’ll not, yet anyway, be required to eat the ham but you must buy it or face a tax of 2 bacon cheeseburgers.
Social issues are exactly what this election is turning into – namely because of Obamacare. Obama is implementing tax reform’s based on ‘spreading the wealth’ trying to frame it as a moral duty and the “right thing to do” as Americans, to help one another by forced sacrifice – paying for someone else. The current administration are experts on shaping policy around social issues- if the Republican candidate is not prepared to handle the manipulation and backdoor implications of what is being legislated, from health-care to immigration, even our foreign policy, they will be wiped out under a banner of intolerance, racism, out-dated and living in moral vacuum.
This is a silly poll. Half of American even now doesn’t know who Condi Rice is, was. As to Rick, after last night’s debate, those numbers will becoming down quickly. I will vote for Mitt, Rick, Newt over Bama even if there were only 5 of us left on earth. Obama is the real enemy not the Pub candidates. Nothing they believe in has been worse for all Americans than the failed domestic, eco., energy Care, debt , tax policies of Bama. Nothing.
Not sure. Many people only know the smears. If he gets more of his very interesting and compelling message out there, he could pick up more independents. Notice how the debates tend to help him in polls. Which is why Romney and Santorum cancalled the last debate…
I get real tired of those Republicans/conservatives who say they yearn for someone, anyone, other than the four GOP candidates left standing. Jeb Bush, Chris Cristie, Sarah Palin, etc., etc. If these people are so wonderful, why aren’t they out there beating the bushes day in and day out, doing the hard work to win our party’s nomination?
And once they are vetted, subjected to an anal exam by our supposed-unbiased “news” media, how will they look to you?
None of the four we have are perfect. But then, only one man can claim that honor and he was crucified two millenia ago. C’mon people, quit the carping! We all know that any of the four will treat this country a lot better than the thug who now occupies the White House.
One of the reasons that Palin is NOT running is that she didn’t want to go through a SECOND anal exam by the LSM (quietly supported by the GOP Establishment). But she is a natural-born leader and, like Reagan, will be on the national scene for years to come – and maybe as a successful candidate in 2016! She’s still young, but getting stronger, better, smarter with every public appearance.
I’ve been saying for a good two years that my top choices were Pawlenty and Rice. Pawlenty kind of lost me, so I would LOVE to see Rice step forward. She could run right over the President in a debate, and I doubt she would take crap from the media, either.
Fundamentally it shows that the issues of big government verses individual rights is not understood by the people being polled. This poll also did not ask if the person taking the poll was even registered to vote.
Terry, My proposal was not as artfully crafted as mine intent. The point is NOT to attack Obamas religion rather it is to attack the media that failed to investigate. That is why I said whatever Obamas religion is, he is entitled to it. The point is not to make this a discussion of Islam rather to make it a discussion on the obvious lack of journalistic ethic and obvious media bias. I think we would being going over the heads of the media-mysters and directly to the American people. i think it would be huge. I think Newt is the guy who can pull it off. MBY
ps- I am praying for a Gingrich / Condoleeza Rice ticket.-
Love Allen West, but we need a NEWT – he is the only one with the true knowledge and experience, and the CHOPS to take on Obama – Did you see the debate last night. Santorum will not survive up against Obama. Mitt Not even sure there. Newt will blow him away with info. He has done it before and given the conservative margins needed. None of the rest have. Rice has not been out there enough to really stand for it. And as for California, it is a lost cause – All the way up the coast too many liberals are bent on destroying this wonderful state! Unless the people have a revelation and see they are shooting themselves in the foot, they go liberal left and keep on destroying their economies, and eventually their and our national security – Ranting Granny who has had quite enough.
You’re misguided. It’s not about who can hit Obama the hardest. That’s the easy part. It’s about who can best withstand the sh*tstorm of hate that Obama and the Left, spearheaded by the media, will unleash against the GOP candidate. There is nothing to indicate that Gingrich is the one who can do that. In fact, there’s a ton of evidence that he would get obliterated by it.
Romney is best choice among the actual candidates. Frankly, I’m not interested in hypothetical candidates, except as they relate to possible Veep selections.
In his dreams, Romney says, “Daddy, I was elected president”, Daddy says, ” Oh Good, Little Mitty”.
He is such an adolescent. Everything he says is memorized or if heard, repeated. He’s a zero. If he buys his way in to the WH, we best have a vice-president who can run the country.
In a regular year, Santorem would be wonderful, maybe next time. But this time, now that the muslium brotherhood is in our W.H., we need NEWT to eradicate/exterminate them. WE HAVE NO CHIOCE.
obama isn’t even trying to be a traditional U.S. president. Remember when he returned the bust of Churchill to Great Britian? What is the logical inference?
That he intends to reap retribution for all of the pain and suffering of my father(who i have a dream OF) and my Negro heritage. That is why he is spending your money as fast and ridiculously as possible in order to leave us powerless and penniless to be consummed(hopefully by a shiite caliphate), BUT IT WILL BE ANOTHER POWER!
I wish Forbes would run for Senator here in NJ. He could beat the daylights out of corrupt Bob Mendez – then team up with fellow fiscal conservatives like Rubio and Rand Paul to get some stuff done.
This is a great post! It really shows where the various opinions lie, especially in regards to the most often mentioned non-Romneys like Christie, Ryan, or Jeb Bush. In my view Rice and Ryan are the real surprises, with one higher than expected, the other lower. Fun poll, thanks.
One thing is for certain, if Condie gets involved there is absolutely no way Obama could be considered the “Smartest Person in the Room.” Ms. Rice has an excellent memory, yet what little she has forgotten is more than Obama will ever know. Unlike the president, her college credentials are real, and her academic performance is substanciated.
Condi Rice is an impressive individual. She has done her service to the nation. To be honest Sec State is a dead end job and cannot lead to something like president or vice president. To do that job well it is not possible to to have a personal political agenda over riding what the elected administration decides. It is operations, not executive.
I do not fault Hilary Clinton. She has done what she could do and would have been better that her boss.
I think many people miss some of the more salient points here. It was a poll with a 3.46% margin for error so Santorum, Romney, Paul and Rice, all, might or might not win. Secondly, and this is for all those who reject the Paul supporters, think that this is still a two party country. Well the ballot box might indicate this is true but this poll certainly tells a different story. Republicans think that Paul supporters are traitors to the Republican party if they don’t come into the fold yet this poll said that 33% of the voters don’t think of themselves as Repubs or Dems. I think the Republican Party needs to wake up and realize it can no longer stand on its antiquated “moral” high ground and not reach out to the next generation, of whom Paul has captivated, and expect to win anything. The Dems have historically done a much better job of reaching out to the fringes and made them feel included while the Republicans have had this ‘take it or leave it’ mentality for way too long. If the Republicans cannot get their act together they will go down in history as having lost to one of the weakest opponents of all time. I think 33% of the voters (according to this poll) think that both parties are corrupt and unworthy of their support. And considering the current state of this country after 8 years of Bush and 3 of Obama, they are probably right.
“I think 33% of the voters (according to this poll) think that both parties are corrupt and unworthy of their support.” And I think you’re full of crap. I’m one of the “Something Else” group for other reasons — and I’ll wager that a lot of other folks are, too.
“Paul has captivated” the younger vote primarily because of his stance on legalizing pot, not because of his other views. “Paul is for legalizing pot? Other drugs even? Well, hell, man, then I’m for Paul.”
I understand that PJ Media has a vested interest in flogging this lone poll they’re commissioned, but check the results of several dozen national polls conducted within the past week or so, below. Tinfoil hats OFF people. This isn’t a Tea Party dumbfest. This is the next president we’re talking about.
My guess is that people don’t know who Paul Ryan is. Also, many people don’t want to be told that we face a scary future if we continue to borrow .42 cents of every dollar we spend.
Condi Rice is capable ,intelligent, witty, charming, well dressed, attractive and has great legs. And yes she is a progressive and ready to bond with any Muslim a shade darker than light toast. She is also rumored to be a long time lesbian and has having GWB’s likeness tattooed on her right inner thigh. No matter if there is truth to this or not .. It is there and will clog the campaigns arteries worse than a triple McFatback with extra cheese and lard fries.
Why do so many people seem to accept the information from polls? I get called by a pollster once or twice a week. Often, it’s a scam/sales pitch (“win a free two day cruise for answering five questions…”) or a fund raiser from some political outfit. These are hang ups.
If I’m in the mood, I’ll answer questions, mostly in an effort to see if I can figure out who paid for the survey. But, in recent weeks, I’ve taken to providing answers that aren’t exactly accurate. My rationale is that, if I can’t determine who/why has funded the survey from the very outset, and, therefore, don’t know (or think I know) their bias, I’m going to do what I can to screw up their data set.
I believe the poll system is flawed. No one that I know would say on the ‘phone that they were not going to vote for the Kenyan, they know that would be racist. No one that I know, however, will actually vote for the Kenyan.
FactCheck: “[T]he Kenyan Constitution prohibits dual citizenship for adults. Kenya recognizes dual citizenship for children, but Kenya’s Constitution specifies that at age 23 [21?], Kenyan citizens who [possess] citizenship in more than one country automatically lose their Kenyan citizenship unless they formally renounce any non-Kenyan citizenship and swear an oath of allegiance to Kenya. . . . [obama's] Kenyan citizenship automatically expired on Aug. 4,1984.” That would not be the case, of course, if obama was born in Kenya as many think. In that case, dual citizenship would not be an issue — because he would not have been a citizen of the United States at birth.
I’ve seen speculation that Frank Marshall Davis was obama’s biological father. If that’s the case, would obama still have been a citizen of Kenya until he became an adult because his mother was married to a Kenyan at the time of his birth? Since Frank Marshall Davis was an American citizen by birth, if he were obama’s father, would that mean that obama is without a doubt an American citizen? Inquiring minds want to know.
Obamea support is consistent save for a slight tinge of revulsion against Gingrinch where undecideds went down while Obama went up. Nobody exceeds Obama’s consistent support numbers by more than the margin of error. For each of the Big 4, the difference in the numbers is the ratio of undecided voters.
“Other” voters are the largest of the three groups identified and the key to success in the general election. Unaffiliated voters have no affinity to either party and generally want the goverment to just leave them alone, this does not speak well for statists candidates on either side. This likely explains why the recent IA poll shows Dr. Paul as the only one beating Obama by more than the margin of error.
Rice is a rabid Council on Foreign Relations globalist who stood next to Vicente Fox and chastised the American Minutemen as “vigilantes.” We need to clean house of every and anyone associated with the CFR, not bring more in. She is a political careerist and a ruthless operative.
Santorum conducts himself more in the manner of an adolescent boy who did not make the varsity team. His immature sulking, hostile, and sullen manner when things do not go his way are not the traits we need in a president of the most powerful country in the world.
I would spend night and day campaigning against these two should the CFR and GOP succeed in handing them the nomination.
Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place. Primary voters are asked to send into the arena from this trifecta of unprincipled, big government ‘conservative’ candidates :
A. Rick Santorum – a sour sounding, lemon-faced theocrat with zero executive experience and speaks only pablum
B. Mitt Romney – a fake as plastic aristocrat who can’t articulate a defense for capitalism and also speaks only pablum.
C. Newt Gingrich – a puffy faced self-indulgent nerd autocrat who doesn’t speak but scolds.
Well, I’m in Virginia so I get to choose between The Amazing Plasticman or The Amazing Krazyman. I’m figuring Krazyman gives us the best chance to reassess at the convention.
I’ll take any of the candidates over Jimmy Carter II – President Oblama
An inexperienced neophyte on business with a redistribution mentality.
A self centered narcissist who blames his failings on Bush – Congress or the Consistution. He takes credit for all and no responsibility for his own policies
$5 billion and counting…but you don’t care because you don’t pay taxes
Rick Santorum in the lead? Good luck trying to win the presidency with an unprincipled, Sour-sounding, Lemon-faced theocrat with zero executive experience against a suave, smooth sounding, media savvy charlatan.
As an unregistered GDI, I am not excited by any of the candidates, because I know that many given registered politicians are there to help themselves and not me or us. I would have to ask which of these pack of jackals do I trust the most. Which of these masters would beat me less if they were voted in? Since we generally have to make the least negative choice, the negative excitement is overwhelming. Do I go for the most unreasonable promises, the best orator, or the candidate least likely to make me buy my own leg irons?
Is Rice American? Sorry to ask but from Israel is all one joke ending this way or that with a bomb on my head. Dont worry my son is still going strong crawling across the middle east.
Dr Rice would be a fantastic candidate from the tactical perspective of disarming the race baiters, as well as her skills and knowledge as former Secretary of State.
The main issue of course is that Dr Rice has never indicated any interest in running, and without the heart behind a run, she would be a very ineffective candidate. Governor Palin does have the heart to run, so she comes off as a much better candidate of the two because she would be committed 100%.
Still this poll deals in hypotheticals. The main issue for conservative voters this cycle should be to ensure a huge majority in the Senate and House, and to take over as many State Houses, Governor’s Mansions, city halls and mayor’s offices as possible. The growing power of the Conservative movement should make these goals possible, which will limit the future President’s room to move.
Face it, the Conservative/TEA Party movement still does not have the resources or the hold of the machinery of the Republican Party to effect the choice of the candidate this cycle. Take what is possible now, and continue to oust establishment Republican politicians and the RNC so you will have a clear field in 2016. If Romney wins, you should have enough leverage in the House and Senate (as well as downline) to get much of what is really needed to lower taxes and spending and dismantle dysfunctional government departments anyway, and if Obama wins the same House and Senate (along with the downline areas of government) will fight him every step of the way and reverse the course he has taken.
i don’t put much faith in polls anymore. take barry’s poll numbers for instance. many of his most ardent supporters are always 6 feet away. another large vampire-like block only comes out at the end of month to cash gov. check, or briefly when a new batch of unowhat comes out. many more live in places like disney world and marvel comics. and you know it is hard to get straight answers out of certain groups. then you have the radical feminists. you expect them to tell the truth to any male poll takers? good luck widdat.
C.R. is a winner with any combination. You got the right key.
I had her running with the Governor of Texas, or Ex- Speaker of the House Mr. Gingrich. With Santorium she is also the key to any victory, AMEN!
Note that Ron Paul is within two points of Romney, and that his fans are enthusiastic, and that those of Romney are not.
Santorum is a flash in the pan like Gingrich. His social conservatism happens to have been attractive at a time the Obama’s are attacking our religious rights, but the package will not do well in November. Santorum has less of a chance of beating Obama than Newt Gingrich, in my view.
What we need to be concerned with is not abortion or gay rights, but national bankruptcy. Why focus on trivia, when we are facing an existential crisis that will put ALL our freedoms on the table?
Ron Paul is the only conservative. I have compared him to Ronald Reagan’s hero, Calvin Coolidge, and I think that comparison holds on many levels.
Corollary: Respondents are more responsive to negatives than positives. Even after the GOP picks a candidate, and the GOP-on-GOP attacks stop, this is going to be a vicious campaign. And Obama has the melanin advantage. The GOP candidate will be walking on egg shells.
Well, except that the Republicans could nominate Rice and West. In that case, 0 becomes the “white” candidate!
It would be a wonder to behold. And neither Condi nor West are mutts. Let’s go for it.
Obama becomes the only “white” candidate. wow that was priceless
Except that Rice is pretty much a liberal on everything EXCEPT the 2nd Amendment.
Dont you get it yet? Your O is an angry bastard with dreams OF an angry father both of whom intend to pay you back for any and all perceived injustices. Recall o’s first activity when he stormed the WH. it was to give back the statue if Winston Churchill to England.
And we aint seen nutin’ yet.
I know she doesn’t want to, but for the sake of the country, could Condie Rice step up? How about a Santorum/Rice ticket?
No lightweight he.
she considers israel a country of southern racist rednecks, and “palestinians” their persecuted blacks
You are so right about Her. Palestinians are barbarians. We had so many thrilled amerikans on 911.
Condi Rice is a strong supporter of a woman’s right to choose. She is pro-choice.
I vote for Condi Rice to be acedemic dean of some university. That’s as far as I go. She got Peter Principled farther than she was qualified already.
…Obama scores abysmally among independent voters.
Except in California. I heard something on the radio this morning that more “independents” here in CA are gravitating toward the Obama camp.
It’s almost as if Teh Stupid is concentrating itself in this state…
Irrelevant b/c Obama will win the state regardless. The only way CA won’t go Dem in November is if his presidency is completely cratering.
For his sake, his presidency is right on track. For our Republics survival’s sake, his presidency has cratered like a meteorite.
If 50% of the country weren’t complete loony-toons we might have a fighting chance at defeating him in November.
Maybe gas at $6/gal.?
Flash, I’m a former Californian and a one-time geology major, so I think I can explain it to you.
It’s plate tectonics. The North American plate is tilted. It’s higher in the north and east, so over time, all the loose nuts and flakes accumulate in California.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
All indications from her past point out that Condi is a progressive, plain and simple.
We need Allen West NOW!!!!
YES
Well, if you’re not going to vote, don’t complain about what we get.
Except for that little thing called “the First Amendment,” which codifies my God-given right to complain. I don’t earn that right by voting.
Thanks for playing, your consolation prize is by the exit.
For those who don’t vote… YOU are the problem… and NO, you have no right to complain, unless it is about yourself.
A simple, but important point.
I seem to recall that Specter once almost lost because he refused to suggest a healthcare plan.
If we have to have a pres., Newt would likely get the muslimbrotherhood out of the WH.
Do you remember what happened in 2010 in Delaware, Nevada and Connecticut? The GOP could’ve gained control of the Senate if not for attitudes like yours. By insisting in promoting the most radical candidates you are simply making sure for the Dems to sweep the elections in 2012.
had stupid gop big shots backed them, the party would’ve won the senate
Condi Rice is a liberal, except on the 2nd Amendment.
Santorum: Let’s re-ban gays from the military, institute federal abstinence training programs, amend the constitution to ban abortions, etc, etc.
Yeah…that’s the winning message in 2012. Good luck with that
You know, everyone says that social issues are a loser.
If they were, Santorum wouldn’t be winning.
But Santorum IS winning.
Thus, social issues don’t appear to be a loser.
They’re called, “primaries”, Drebin.
You really ought to spend some time learning how this kind of thing works.
Yes, the good old days of coat hangers and Drano douches. Is that what the GOP wants for American women? I think you should go with it.
He became a pro-lifer.
I dare you to watch the film.
Got it?
Hey What Me Wonder. How are “you people” doing?
“You know, I think contraceptives are a really bad idea and I don’t feel like paying for your stupid decisions” = “I now force my morals upon you” ?
Oh. My. God. Buy your own damn condoms.
You libertines are more afraid of a morally upright man than you are of an out-and-out Marxist.
I would have voted for Condoleezza Rice in 2008.
I would vote twice for her in 2012!
I think it would be amazing to have a strong pro-choice, pro-woman candidate!
Pro-woman isn’t good enough for me. I want anti-man. Men are useless, worthless. Stock the sperm banks — then we can do without them forever.
Those are two mutually exclusive positions. Nobody can be pro-woman and pro-abortion at the same time.
Pro-choice and pro-woman means you’re for abortion on demand except for the thought crime of gender-selection abortion; that is, you can’t choose to prefer sons over daughters. It’s working out great in Londonistan, I hear.
Condi voted for Obama. You guys are nuts. I was trying to keep an open mind about this site but you are starting to look a lot like FreeRepublic.
Clueless Condi Rice would probably get the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR endorcement. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/apr/4/baghdad-gaza-arent-birmingham/
You may not care about social issues, but apparently enough people DO care about them to put Santorum over Romney and Gingrich.
It’s not at all clear to me that social issues are a loser.
Ooh, I like. Five Guys, or Steak n’ Shake?
Oh wait, the five “Guys” are Catholic, so definitely Five Guys.
Nothing.
Agree with your blog except for Newt. He isn’t going to get enough independent vote.
Hell, Elmer Fudd would be a better president!
Pepe LePeu would be a better chief exec, and wouldn’t stink up the joint nearly as badly.
On Dec.7,2011 I wrote on PJM -
Terry, My proposal was not as artfully crafted as mine intent. MBY
ps- I am praying for a Gingrich / Condoleeza Rice ticket.-
I AM PRAYING HARDER THAN EVER.
How about STEVE FORBES?
I wish Forbes would run for Senator here in NJ. He could beat the daylights out of corrupt Bob Mendez – then team up with fellow fiscal conservatives like Rubio and Rand Paul to get some stuff done.
Clueless Condi Rice? That race obsessed, know no Islam, nitwit. This has got to be a joke. http://www.dianawest.net/BlogArchive/tabid/56/EntryId/63/Condis-Amoral-World-View.aspx
This is a great post! It really shows where the various opinions lie, especially in regards to the most often mentioned non-Romneys like Christie, Ryan, or Jeb Bush. In my view Rice and Ryan are the real surprises, with one higher than expected, the other lower. Fun poll, thanks.
The Economy is the only issue and wives make the economic decisions;
Perhaps Rice and Palin could capture their votes – and their husbands.
Did you mean “and their husbands’”? The meaning of the sentence is changed without that final apostrophe.
Quite changed, I’d say.
She may be all you say, however, she still doesn’t believe people can run their own affairs.
I am planning on staying home this time.

Ah, thank you, Kathleen3.
I knew there was something else very bad about Rice but couldn’t remember it.
It’s just mind-boggling how many conservatives think she’s the bees knees.
She makes John McCain look conservative.
Citizen Tom
I’ll take any of the candidates over Jimmy Carter II – President Oblama
An inexperienced neophyte on business with a redistribution mentality.
A self centered narcissist who blames his failings on Bush – Congress or the Consistution. He takes credit for all and no responsibility for his own policies
$5 billion and counting…but you don’t care because you don’t pay taxes
Think the non-pablum choice wins.
Yes, Condi Rice is legally an American.
Philosophically, she’s a European.
Seriously? They include all these hypotheticals and they don’t include Huckabee?
I would like to see Huckabee’s name polled vs. Obama.
i don’t put much faith in polls anymore. take barry’s poll numbers for instance. many of his most ardent supporters are always 6 feet away. another large vampire-like block only comes out at the end of month to cash gov. check, or briefly when a new batch of unowhat comes out. many more live in places like disney world and marvel comics. and you know it is hard to get straight answers out of certain groups. then you have the radical feminists. you expect them to tell the truth to any male poll takers? good luck widdat.
did i miss anybody?
C.R. is a winner with any combination.
My short case for him is here: http://moderatesunited.blogspot.com/2012/02/letter-to-ron-paul-skeptics-rerevised.html
