I only have 153 facebook friends. But the funny thing is that they are all actually my friends and I am very thankful for that. A dozen or so I’ve known since grade school (in the seventies) and a few I’ve known for six months (since we moved to a new neighborhood). I’d be surprised if any one of them didn’t have my address and phone number. I can tell by these things that I’m not famous. That gives me another thing to be thankful for!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Roger! I’m not your fb friend, but if we ever get to know one another, I’ll be glad to add you!

Maggie…. Combine Facebook (with enough little tidbits of info), Google maps (those party shots don’t feature your house anywhere in them do they?) and the Whitepages (i do know your name), and you’d be surprised how quick a savvy person can triangulate your position. It’s not ‘that’ easy. But if someone wanted to find you they probably could.

As to all the “friends” showing up one has to consider the risk involved in showing up unannounced at the home of a guy wearing a Sam Spade hat. Do not stand anywhere near anybody named Bridget or Wilmer.

I’m betting that the key fact in th story has been overlooked. The story says, “…she in a striking red and gold lehenga (traditional Indian formalwear)…”
Thus, just as at Fort Hood, political correctness has trumped common sense. The left wing security folks simply saw a woman in Indian formalwear and assumed she was OK and did not assure she was OK.
