62. Jim Baker:
Letterman got married in March. You have proof that he had an affair after that? Bring it.

Now and Then,
David Letterman did and does have a wife while he did and does whatever he did and does. Explain why you defend this clown's actions by saying that other clowns did or do it, too. Did or do you get that you stupid troll? Sheesh.

Letterman is fine; he never was the “Family Values” type. Yes, he probably cheated on his girlfriend now wife. But at least he does go around claiming he is Mr. “Family Values” like some of our politicians/ preachers (can you just see the grin on all “Fake News” reporters/ commentators and the Palin fringe). This has been a tough summer, for Dave, for our economy but at least he did not end up on the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Sanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC).

Barring some major new revelations and/or embarrassing lawsuits, Letterman survives this in large part because he's been narrowcasting for the last five years. Just as MSNBC picks its prime-time show hosts and topics to gear to only a certain segment of the audience, Letterman's decision to only do biting jokes about one side of the political spectrum cut his potential audience to only half of the demographic around 2004 or so. Any bump he gets from other viewers in times like this is the equivalent of people with police scanners who go driving to the scene of a horrific accident, then leave once the excitement is over.

Letterman's already down to a core of true believers who forgive him for any tryst or crude joke, as long as the joke is at the expense of someone who deserves it in their eyes, like Willow Palin. So his numbers aren't going to fall off much if at all from their normal level after the latest hoo-ha dies down.

In contrast, had Jay Leno done something like this, odds are it would have killed him, since it would have gone against both the persona he's developed (Jay=nice guy/working class guy who made it big; Dave=Mean-spirited recluse), and it would have caused a big drop in his ratings, because Leno's show draws far more from both sides of the political spectrum because he hasn't opted to protect the politicians and public figures he likes from any monologue ridicule (Leno also doesn't get the same fawning press because of that, so any ratings header would be major news, whereas Dave's decade-long ratings doldrums are just taken as a given and no big deal by the critics).

31. carla:

"you’re into pubescent anal rape, are you? "

You brought this up, someone with a dirty mind, a smearing soul and the lowest moral standards. You are pathetic.

43. Moderato:

"“Johnny Carson was a class act.”
If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t the real Carson divorced three times, was a drunkard, had lots of affairs, was nasty and reclusive off the set?"

See? That's what happens when voyeours dig into 'class acts'. Who cares what Johnny did? He was entertaining and that's ALL I care. For you conservatives, I can care less if your heroes Limbo, Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly, Palin, Coulter, Bush, Cheney, Reagan, Sanford et al have a piece of ass. That's what the tabloids are for, the problem is that the msm HAS become a tabloid.

46. DaveZ:

"The long and short of it, it is wrong, it is actionable"

I never said it wasn't wrong, but that people should keep off private lives and let them expunge their 'sins' by themselves.

48. Alan Kellogg:

"Bit of news here for you, power is an aphrodisiac."

The truth has been spoken. Heard of 'groupies', anyone?

Heard of female students chasing their teachers? I've seen it a lot.

49. Cybergeezer:

"If he’s as impotent as his jokes, who could get excited about having sex with Letterman?"

You don't know women, power, money and status are aphrodisiacs, they'll f*uck anyone there.

Heard of Catholic priests groupies?

51. Kate Rafferty:

Yes, sexual harassment is alive and well.
