Global warming for the most sincere and earnest apprentice assistant dummies:

The total solar energy striking the earth is just about 10,000 times greater than the energy consumption of humanity. Now, 10,000 is 100 times 100, so, humans (dummies included) consume one percent of one percent of the energy received from the sun.

There are also geothermic sources, but you would not want to confuse dummies with those deep considerations, so let's ignore them.

So, if the intensity of the solar radiation fluctuates (which it does) by only one percent, such a variation is still 100 times larger than the human energy consumption. Of human consumption and solar variation, which of these two factors dwarfs the other?

My dear fellow dummies, if we could rise to a level of dumminess competitive with that of Mr. Albert Gore, we would expose ourselves to receiving a Nobel prize.

I trust that no self-respecting dummy would do that.

In the meantime, you are most welcome to join me in the celebration of our capacity to harvest one percent of one percent of the available energy. Non-dummies need not apply.

Its their religion and you will kneel before it and buy indulgences, and keep the priests in large temples and comforitible homes.

A curious mix of Enviromental gurus - fanatical people who tend to live in cottages with "lovely" driftwood sculptures outside, and who want everyone to live - just like them - and "Informed Enviromentalists" - an oxymoron - who have no idea that there was anything done before the Internet or any data before the first satellites. The journalists and politicians who just recycle the latest Press Release from the WWF with no questions on the authenticity of any figures. In contrast, I spent a total of 6 years at a real university getting two degrees in Geology - just barely enough to understand the vast array of historical evidence on natural climate cycles.

These whackos currently have the power to screw a shuddering economy into the ground in the name of their God - CO2 - and the political will to stop them is being overidden by Al Gore and his ilk.

The Leftie Politicos are not actually interested in 'Global Warming' or they would be supporting Nuclear Power like pointed out by Mike K; They are actually anti-Capitalists, and are using Global Warming to stop economic activity. It would be a suicide cult except they expect US to die first.

Gore was actually round the bend on AGW before the 2000 election. His book "Earth in the Balance" has many of the myths he has promoted including his conclusion that:

<i>"Consider that the United States spends tens of billions of dollars on frenzied programs to upgrade and improve the technology of bombers and fighter planes to counter an increasingly remote threat to our national security. but we are content to see hundreds of millions of automobiles using an old technological approach not radically different from the one first used decades ago in the Model A Ford.

"We now know that their cumulative impact on the global environment is posing a mortal threat to the security of every nation that is more deadly than that of any military enemy we are ever again likely to confront. </i>

That was published in 1998. Gore's intellectual credentials are minimal and he seems to have hit upon this obsession as part of some Mother Gaia-type religious experience. Maybe that has something to do with failing divinity school. Ted Kazynski, the unabomber, is supposed to have had a copy of Gore's book in his cabin although that has since been denied.

Gore has never been willing to debate anyone, including Bjorn Lomborg.

Ironically, Obama is passing up the opportunity to speed the transition to electric cars by not supporting nuclear power and by failing to upgrade the electricity grid which is failing.

Once there was a man from Tenessee who wanted very much to become the president of the United States. He wanted it so much, he waited patiently for 8 years as Vice President, taking care of sundry tasks like raising campaign money, talking to buddhist monks, etc...

But Alas, when the time came, the presidency was taken away from him by a vast conspiracy, mostly composed of the american electorate and a handful of judges, quite a mischievous bunch if you ask me.

Was there a consolation prize somewhere in this otherwise delosate landscape? The big existencial question of the poor fellow from Tenessee became "If you cannot be a president, could you still become a prophet?" Well, from a purely scientific perspective, we should recognize that some prophets are more carbonic than others, and you have to take them as they come!

Various snake oil merchants would like you to believe that Global Warming is a non-prophet organization. Beware!

There is no "science" of weather projection. There are only hypotheses, postulations, or assumption of possibilities, based on the application of science to historic record, short term and long term. No honest scientist will present his predictions as unarguable, 100% infallible. The essence of science is peer review, willingness to accept scrutiny of your assumptions by others. Almost 200 years later, scientists are still arguing Darwin's conclusions.

To present AGW as "The Truth", inconvenient or otherwise, and vilify those who put forth alternative interpretations based on their scientific stdies, is de facto proof of lack of scientific integrity, identifying yourself with Trofim Lysenko, the nrtious Stalinist "scientist".

Roger, they would not even show him on camera when stating he was their, Gore's red face darkened and his eyes glared at the chairman, sending a definate show of anger if he was given any time to speak. Freedom of speech is long lost on this group.

Agreed, Minerva. Actually, it would have been great fun watching Monckton eviscerate those numbskulls. Evidently, they knew it and wouldn't let him speak.
