How tall are you now, anyway?

I remember when a member of this forum was very skeptical about PJM’s chances of success.

By chance, while driving between my two hospitals on rounds today, I heard you on Laura Ingraham’s show. I was delighted that you mentioned Casablanca, because your discussion up to that point made me think of that very movie.

If I had been a caller into the show, I might have said that Casablanca was a perfect illustration of some of the points you had been making. In particular, although we often think back to that time as one where things were somehow “simpler,” actually Casablanca‘s Rick is a rather complex, morally ambiguous man, whose thinking is sophisticated and (O abused word!) nuanced, who finally is forced to choose sides, and is actually able to make the right choice.

The real difference from our present era is that much of the world, especially that sector which regards itself as sophisticated, believes there is no such thing as a “right” choice.
