Google… it’s everywhere…

September 30, 2005 - 12:15 pm - by Roger L Simon

Is Google on its way to being the most powerful organization on Earth… or is it already there?

Ever-expanding Internet search engine behemoth Google Inc. confirmed long-running rumors that it plans to develop as much as 1 million square feet of corporate office and R&D facilities within Silicon Valley’s NASA Ames Research Center (pictured), a stone’s throw from Google’s Mountain View headquarters.

MEANWHILE: The fuddy-duddies at the EU are still worried about nation states instead of the real powers (Google, Microsoft, Yahoo). No wonder the big Euro countries (France, Germany, Italy) are practically falling off the list. (France is below Malaysia!)

Mountain View’s city government is already complaining that they won’t be collecting property taxes, since the site is on federal land. As far as I can tell, it hasn’t occurred to them that every home within five miles of Nasa Ames (including mine) just increased in value, and they’ll be getting more property taxes when any of them sells, nor that employing a few thousand people might be good for a city in which commercial and R&D space are still running 15% to 20% vacancy rates.

  2. Pride goeth before a fall. I think Google is about to get it’s comeuppance.

You guys are missing something much worse (much more irrelevant??) in the attempt of the EU to take over the internet. I’ve been posting on this issue, but the EU is another name for gentle fascism, suffocating rules, or whatever else you want to call it. Today’s example of EU crap has to do with Finland.
