Forgive me, this is way OT but I wanted to call attention to something I just discovered. I'm a subsciber to Nature, but I'm often way behind in reading it. Looking through the 12 May 2005 issue just now, I found a sympathetic, accurate and highly positive review of [frequent contributor here] Catherine Johnson's (writing for Temple Grandin) book, Animals in Translation. Here's a paragraph, as the review will be for subscibers only, sadly:

Catherine Johnson has put Grandin's words into a form that is accessible to readers without any prior knowledge of either autism or animal behaviour. At the same time, people working in these areas will be given insights into the connections between these apparently diverse fields that will stick in the mind and change the way we look at both.

I really agree with that assessment. I felt this was a book that changed the way I perceive the world. Jamie Irons

I will pray for this injured hero.

When this war is over, I hope some reasonably objective analyst, who is a good writer, and who is open about his prejudices while being sanely pro-military, will publish a study of the milbloggers’ work.

I think their importance to the war effort will be a cause of astonishment (and in some quarters, sadly, of dismay).
