I have no nomination for Annan's successor. In my opinion, the United Nations should be allowed to die the ignominious death it deserves. Perhaps then we free and democratic nations of the world could build an institution actually worthy of respect and support. Perhaps.

HT Cracker Barrel

Yeah that's right!

It's the French Connection all over again, Kofi's looted the UN and he's on the run with the money. High speed pursuit now in progress in downtown Manhantten. CBS, NBC, ABC all have newscopters following chase.

BREAKING we now have Kofi on the cellphone. Jessie Jackson's on the phone now negotiating Kofi's surrender to NYPD and asylum in Cuba. Helicopter is on standby at the UN. Of course Jessie has eye's on the SG for one of his associates - OJ needs a new gig.

Let's see 22:00 hrs PST (West Coast) That means Roger has a source that's provided news lead that's in a news article that's in the can in a West Coast Paper. All the East Coastie papers went to be several hours ago.

West Coast papers go to print about that time.Let's see will it be the liberal rag LA Times. Once in print it's fair game for ever one and Roger can break the story to the Blogos

Now this is all exciting. At least this is more newsworthy than the Wacko Jacko trial and the Terri Schiavo family's tragedy that's been blown all over the world.

But have we seen one word on the Iran riots on Friday. The BBC ran a lame feed from official Iranian gov't news sources. For some real hard core news check today's update by Dr. Zin at Regime Change Iran at:

<a href="http://www.regimechangeiran.com/" rel="nofollow">Link Here</a>

BTW does anyone in So Cal have a decent Pent IV level laptop that they would be willing to part with CHEAPLY? Dr. Zin's rig is grinding slowly to a stop and we have a regime change underway in Iran. Donations can be channeled thru an appropriate non-profit for tax deduction :-).

For SQ of UN. Why not one of our friends from the post nuclear world of the Simpsons!

Homer (perfect choice), Bart (nothing will get by him), Marge (A role model for women), Lisa (a brain), and of course Flanders (Ideal choice for the religious right). Of course we shouldn't overlook Crusty the Clown but that might be too close to the current SG.

US choices - Colin Powell, Dr. Rice (But we need her at Secretary of State), Bill Clinton (After all he and Bush I are the best of friends now), and Rummy (But we need to win the GWOT).

If the SG can't be from the US then Vaclav Havel is the clear choice. Someone from the former Eastern Block that has firsthand experience with a regime change to a democracy.

If Kofi resigns, look for international Soros-gangster Richard Holbrooke to try to hog in and slurp up some credit for something or other.

I assume the big news is that Kofi is resigning, to avoid "even the appearance of a conflict of interest." And actually, itís to do the kind of full-time CYA he needs to do.

From a US perspective, Hernando de Soto is probably the best replacement choice, with a chance. He's pro-capitalist and pro-democracy. That's probably not true of most of the candidates with a chance to get it.

Eric,

There's a normal coast?

And it's ten hours ahead of Pacific time?

That would make it, what, Istanbul? Jerusalem?

10PM Pacific . . . So that's like 8AM if you're on the normal coast right? ;-)
