Our countries both share a similar conundrum,what to do with the over-educated scions of the upper middle classes.They went to good schools,good universties,have the money and the networks of their parents behind them,but they desperately wish to be proletarians.Not in the sense of getting their hands dirty,you understand,but somewhere where all that education and compassion could be put to good use and so “journalism” was born.This allowed them the vicarious thrill of being marxist revolutionaries,without the guns and the blood,leaving them free for dinner parties and three hour lunches.

Simple really as long as you know the latest buzz phrases and can tell a good claret from a bad,the worlds your lobster.

The Guardian is just a cruder version of the New York Times. Take away the gray lady’s fake gentleness and they are coming from the same pond.The Guardian is the Times after a bottle of Glenfiddich.

Thats unfair,the Guardian doesn’t have Fisque,but both papers have great qualties of demented sinistrality.
