I can't stand Kerry, but didn't feel I had too much trouble remaining objective. I put myself into the shoes of who I think the undecideds or shiftables are. In general I think they haven't paid close attention yet, so they wouldn't know what Kerry's positions are or when he's flip-flopped before (no one's going to necessary believe his opponent when he claims he flip-flops). Based on Kerry's breadth and depth of knowledge (how would they know most were distortions) he won on substance. Bush frowned off-camera, paused too long, repeated the same message too many times (I even got tired of it), and was slouching at the lecturn. Kerry won on style.

Kerry will gain 2-3 points over next two days. By the end of the third debate, they'll be neck and neck (in the polls). Barring a catastrophe, Bush will win (Kerry's internals are just too awful).

I caught abut ten seconds of Kerry on the air and couldn't stand it any more.

You and the other live bloggers are doing a great service to those with no stomach for Kerry.

Well, at least share the brand of the malbec. I haven't had any malbec from central California, though I recently had some up in Sonoma. Like most I usually rely on good cheap Argentine malbec for that variety. And speaking of (relatively) obscure reds, Virginia's starting to do pretty good 100% cabernet franc bottlings. Time was when only a handful of Dry Creek producers did some of those.
