As those who follow this blog know, I take a special interest in the Iranian Freedom Movement. So I was pleased to read the following Reuters report – Europe Compromises with U.S. on Iran Nuclear Deadline
France, Britain and Germany have met a key U.S. demand by proposing a November deadline for Iran to dispel concern that it has a covert atom bomb program, according to a draft resolution seen by Reuters.
But the draft does not order Tehran to be automatically reported to the U.N. Security Council if it does not meet the deadline, as Washington wishes.
Good for the administration, although I wish they had gotten all their demands. Iranian policy is one of the key reasons I support Bush in the election. For those who don’t see a big difference between the candidates on this issue, I would remind them of this John Edwards statement of only a couple of weeks ago. (hat tip: M. Simon, again)
John Edwards’ statement struck me as naive, even bizarre.
You sometimes wonder if the Democrats (and I will say it again, I am a life-long, passionate Democrat–they left me and Zell Miller both) are paying any attention at all to the dangers we face.

Of course this is a story receiving major news coverage by CBS 60 Minutes II and the mainstream media. NOT!
Also receiving major coverage is the public hanging of a 16 year-old girl in Iran several weeks ago by the “enlightened” mullahs in the name of religion.
I’m sorry but the ideology of Islamofascism is a culture and religion stuck in the darkness of the 12th Century that has not undergone a period of reformation or enlightenment. This is no religion of peace that sanctions the slaughter of innocents.
Such acts are barbaric and have no place in the modern world. AQ is exploiting our tolerance of other cultures and religion in this War Of Islamofascism. There can be no negotiating and or appeasing them. It’s time to call a, “Spade a Spade,” and wipe this cancer from the face of the earth.
The future of Iran has major strategic policy consequences for the US in this region. A majority of the Iranian people who consider themselves Persian and not Arabic, would overthrow this radical Islamic theocracy if given a chance.

This is a story the American People must hear so that they can make an informed choice in the presidential election.
The media for various self-interested reasons is not coverning these stories. Like the CBS 60 Minutes II piece, these stories must be brought dricetly to the American People by the Net and the Blogosphere.

Candidly I think all this ‘jaw-jaw’ is a monumental waste of time.And the ‘students’ will likely NEVER dispose of this fantical regime rotten though it may be.
The mullahs are not going to give in to any of these ridiculous ‘demands’and we all know it.This is just a long running farce with Europeans running off to Tehran every few months to deliver strict warnings(of NOTHING WHATSOEVER)to an amused collection of theocrats who don’t even bother to conceal their contempt.
The question is: what does GWB do about it?
Is it a legitimate act of preventitive defense to obliterate Iran’s nuclear pretentions?Could this be done? What would be the results of doing so? Would this entail a 100% effort to overthrow the regime as well? What are the likely consequences and risks? Why are we not having this debate NOW?
The way things are going Iran will get nuclear weapons and I am totally convinced that sooner or later they will use them,simply because they are too fantatic not to do so.
This should be unacceptable but our public debate is simply avoiding the issue entirely.
2005 is going to be a huge year. For Iran. For Lebanon. For Syria. For us. For the world.
The mullahs know the clock truly begins to run out shortly after November 2d.

Global Security has an intertesting analysis of North Korea’s problems in conducting a nuclear weapons test.
If this were a test, and not just some monumental NK screwup, a crater would seem to suggest a tower was used in the test. That would throw a lot of crud into the atmosphere.
I’ve also read that China has been moving troops onto the NK border. I wonder which way the wind is blowing?
Eh, the article took me longer to find than I expected. The Chinese have been conducting exercises on the Yalu River building pontoon bridges and what-not. I also think some exercises aimed at Taiwan were canceled by the Chinese a couple of weeks ago.
On another line of thought… if it was just another conventional explosion, coupled with the last one in NK and the one in Iran, is this a pattern pointing towards sabotage?
The North Korean tyranny was about to fall but Clinton sent Carter and his wife over for a propaganda session. One can’t underestimate the damage it does to opposition forces to see the U.S. sucking up to tyrants. Opposition forces which had believed they could count on America’s support. The state controlled media beamed pictures of the “Great Leader” and Mr. Future Nobel Peace Prize Winner and family hugging and smiling for the cameras for months on end. When the tyrant’s son took over Clinton soon sent Albright and staff over just to make sure the North Koreans knew nothing had changed. Thus helping to solidify the wacky sons hold on power. Albright did her best Carter, she even danced with the mass murderer, and not only do we now have nuclear weapons on the peninsula but also millions of deaths from famine and another million dead or perishing away in concentration camps as I write. Don’t even get me started on why Mondale was fired as ambassador to Japan. And now these same Democrats want to do the same thing with Iran and are criticizing Bush’s Northeast Asian policy. Unbelievable.

Uh…technical issues.
Next time I’ll save the template before getting clever. I’m not sure quite what happened; being more used to flint knives and anvils I appealed to the Infinitely Better Half for a little help and after both our efforts, the template became corrupted. Probably something I did.
I watched CNN’s 9/11 retrospective last night and found myself unable to do much after I watched the bodies fall…didn’t sleep last night.
We must win this war. In order to do that, we must win this election, and win it with such a margin that our domestic opposition is knocked back a few notches.
I have no time for Democrats any more. None. They don’t see dead men and women and orphans. They ask “what’s in it for me?”. No more.
