At the risk of revealing latent Trekkiness, the Khan (memorably rendered by Ricardo Montelban) referred to in the “Wrath of” was described as a magnificent Shiite warrior of the late 20th (?) Century when he debuted in the original series. Remember, this would have been in the middle 1960s, when our view of Muslim “warriors” could afford to be more romantic than it has sense become. Star Trek’s Khan never laid eyes on the Gobian wilderness.
