No, actually I do “get” your point now. You see all manner and variety of character flaws and failings as equal in force, severity and effect. Certainly by your rather rigid standard, we all must be of “crap” character. On the other hand I see it in degrees.

I’ll illustrate it this way: You see Limbaugh as having no (or crap) character because of his drug problem. I see a guy with a drug problem.
On the other hand, I saw Ted Kennedy as a man who was complicit in the death of a young woman and who did everything he could to avoid taking responsibility for his actions. I call that unforgivable “crap” character and reason enough to dismiss him and life’s work as a politician.
