CJ:

CJ, I can save you some effort – I’m not even american! I just thought I’d pop in and help out a fellow lefty with some data to answer a rhetorical question.

Now …

“GWB tried to stop US funds from funding murder – IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES.”

Um, no. There are/were already laws in place to prevent that. What he did was use PUBLIC money to try to coerce organizations which use anybody’s money (even their own) to do anything at all related to abortion – including discuss it as an option.

“How was that imposed on you?”

It wasn’t imposed on me (as I explain above). But any american tax payer who thinks this is a stupid policy (which is about half of them, judging by voting records) had a religion point of view imposed on their foreign aid contribution.

“It figures that you progressives are against that, given your Eugenicist history”

What’s really depressing is that you think you know what you’re talking about. Eugenics has a surprising history – it actually a semi-respectable topic for policy discussion right up to the 20th century, before the NAZIs showed the world its implications. But you’re probably clinging to the ridiculous claim that hitler was a leftie, which I’m pretty much sick of having to debunk.

“Sorry, the pledge isnt mandatory”

But any kid who WANTS to say the pledge has to acknowledge god. A (supposed to be) uniting tradition has become divisive because a power-bloc wants americans to believe that their country was founded as a “christian nation”. There is one pledge of allegiance – and christian power brokers just couldn’t help but “mark” it as their territory – and republicans helped them.
