Who has earned our vote of confidence?
It becomes a matter of character. And trust. This is true for all relationships. That’s what we need to have with our next President: a relationship of trust.
Going forward, we have to consider who has been honest and open with us about his history and record — who he is and where he stands on issues.
We should consider who has shown he’s been willing to sacrifice – even his life – for others and for what he believes.
We should consider who has made decisions based on principle — not on how they might serve self — and stuck to them even when popular opinion grew greater against him.
We should consider the character of those with whom each man chooses to associate — and where those associations have led.
And we should consider the man who has erred – for we all do – and the humility with which he willingly admits his error.
These are uncertain times — both foreign and domestic — and we have no idea what lies ahead for our nation and for the world.
We have to be assured we have in leadership a man who is able to make a decision. One he will make for the greater good. Not out of self-interest.
We can’t afford to have someone who makes poor decisions – or none at all – because self-interest is his guide, or because he lacks a moral compass.
