The polls are all over the place, it is hard to put too much stock in any of them. However, a week or so ago everyone said the nationals didn’t matter when Obama was down, only the state polls mattered. Now Obama shows slight lead in the nationals yet is still behind in many of the key state polls. So, which ones matter? Also many of the key state polls show conflicting results, with either McCain or Obama ahead in the same states. I don’t think there are any conclusions to be drawn yet. My guess is that if McCain is within 5 in national polls and still competitive in the key state polls on election day he wins. I also think that many people will be introduced to the honorable Rev Wright and Ayers for the first time in the next few weeks, which could have a significant impact. The general public was not paying attention to the Democratic primary when the MSM actually covered a little bit of the Wright issue.
