I’d like to believe you are right, but everything I read on conservative blogs that tout this line suggests they are way to overconfident about backlash.

It will take years before the truly horrible effects of this legislation become obvious to the average, never-pays-attention-to-politics voters. By that time, the details and history will be so muddled that they will likely just take it as “that’s life.”

England, after all, was once a free country, too, in the main and with a proud populace. Now, it’s a pure Nanny State.
