The alarmists love to use what they perceive to be large numbers, without context. Given that the total weight of the atmosphere is about 6 quintillion tons (6 with 15 following zeros ), at a rate of 90M tons daily, it would take almost 2,000 years to increase the level of CO2 to 1% of total weight. That of course assumes that the natural processes built into the system that ensure equilibrium over time completely cease to function for that 2,000 year period.
