What it’s about is violence.

The sine qua non of government–its definining element, the one thing that nothing else has–is a legal monopoly on the use of violence to accomplish its ends.

The thing to which Conservatives conserve is the the principle that the violent power we citizens assigned to the Federal Government when we created it should be very narrowly employed.

The most coherent definition of a Liberal is one who would liberally allow the use of violence upon citizens to accomplish his or her aims.

Thanks to these liberals, our medical care will now be controlled by violence.
