I had to chuckle at your comment, because I too am a retired federal employee. I retired in 2007 after 33 years, most spent as a design engineer and program manager at an undersea weapons laboratory. A significant portion of DOD’s engineering, technical and trades employees are conservative, many being ex-military. But, as we both know, most federal, state, county and municipal workers owe their existence (and therefore allegiance) to the socialist bureaucracy.
