Ms Dunn (said elsewhere to be a well-to-do resident of tony Chevy Chase –some Maoist –preach the Long March from the Long Driveway) in her notorious video tells her high-school audience to ‘prepare themselves to do things that’ve never been done before’. This word-matches the NEA trainer guy who told his artist audience that they were going to be ‘learning how to do things that’ve never been done before’.

Then next day when they learn that their words got loose into the people at large, they both sprint away as fast as they can from what they’d clearly said with passion and emphasis just a day or two before, exhorting groups whose loyalty they clearly desire for the doing of some new something that ‘has never been done before’.

Okay, all the above was to set up this question: is there a mismatch between the heaviness of their exhortation and the lightness of the ray of sunshine that made them so quickly and volubly disavow and disclaim?

Sure there is. And what can it be but that they are up to something very aggressive and illicit, and are thus suffused with defensive and sacrificial (“You! Under the Bus! Now!”) furtiveness.

Quick splash, a diversion or two while the ripples degrade, then back to work under smooth reflective surfaces.
