I think the success Dunn admires is not the Communists’ success in establishing an egalitarian utopia — they obviously failed, but in their total and permanent destruction of the old order. That’s the “fundamental transformation” the left seeks in America.

We know who the new ruling class will be. The elites of government, the academy and the learned professions, journalism and entertainment, environmentalism and labor, with their reliable voting base of African-Americans, Hispanics, single women and immature voters, intend to permanently supplant the moribund establishment of capitalists, big and small, the traditionally patriotic, and the conventionally religious. Of course, the new ruling class also includes many capitalists of the rope-selling, rent-seeking variety described by Lenin.

Our new rulers have taken over the banking system and GM, and have their sights set on health care and energy, what Lenin called the “commanding heights”. Today Barry laid down a marker to the health insurance companies for opposing his will — fall in line or he will put them out of business. The administration wants to marginalize conservative voices like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh and to intimidate their opponents into backing off. They know they lack majority support but intend to press forward quickly before most Americans understand what’s happening.

It’s the Chicago Way gone national.
