In the books about his life, Obama dwells on his difficulties adjusting to this or that social situation. I guess he hasn’t known how bad things can get. He never tried to have a civil conversation with North Vietnamese prison camp guards.

McCain spent 5 ½ years as prisoner of the North Vietnamese. But he hasn’t whined about how difficult that was.
