It contains the parenthetical “(bes. ns.),” indicating it especially, but not necessarily, refers to the national-socialist context, but it runs, in full, “a) (bes. ns.)[mit Zwangsmassnahmen] auf eine einheitliche, zentral bestimmte Linie bringen, zu einer einheitlichen Denkweise zwingen, im Denken u. Handeln der Politik u. Weltanschauung der regierenden Machthaber unterwerfen . . . ; b) sich [der herrschenden Meinung] anpassen, unterwerfen . . . .” Roughly translated: a) [with compulsory measures] to bring into a unitary, centrally determined line, to force into a unitary manner of thought, to subordinate in thought and action to the politics and Weltanschauung of the ruling power; b) (reflexive) to conform or subordinate oneself to the prevailing opinion”.
