But it might also include unequal divisions of inheritances (women may inherit only 1/2 the amount allocated men under Sharia). If, as one commenter asserts, Sharia is to be applied only insofar as it never conflicts with English law, then why have it at all? The answer is that those who want it want it precisely because it DOES conflict with English law. This is a “foot-in-the-door” situation and should be dealt with as such. The proper response? No Sharia. Period. If you want religious law, return to countries that have religious law.
