Peter writes: From the tidbits of local news I have seen, with the amount of people lining the roads and lining up to go view his coffin at the JFK Library, you would think he was handing out $100 bills on the street-corner every weekend.
However, I also heard something on the radio this afternoon from a guy who, 21 years ago when he was 10 and living in Massachusetts, went to see Ted speak at a local gathering and afterward asked to meet the prestegious Senator. When this young boy was introduced, Kennedy patted him on the shoulder (like saying “Nice kid, now go away”) and pushed him away so he could go back to talking to the ‘important’ people. The guy said he turned into a conservative Republican that night and has found no reason to change again ever since.
