Well….yes, this letter sounds phony…but the sentiment is real.

In our case, the letter’s recipient should be a daughter who’s children’s 529 plan can no longer be funded by their grandparents. I just haven’t had the guts to confront my kids about the results of their choice. Grandma and I just tell ourselves that this unfunded educational plan is “temporary.” That’s a lie in which we seek some comfort. We will never again be able to ensure that benefit to our grandchildren.
