The police got a report of someone forcefully breaking into a house. OF COURSE they’re going to check who is in the house for ID. What did you expect?

And when he provided them with ID, why didn’t it end there? Why didn’t they thank him for his cooperation and be on their way? He didn’t get belligerent with the officer until the officer kept questioning him AFTER he gave him the IDs and was told to go outside (where any heated exchange could be classified as “disturbing the peace.”)
