Middleman:

#24,
I don’t blame Gates for being angry to be quite honest. If police hassled me on my property, I’d be livid too. I’ve seen white people freak out on police for things as small as traffic tickets, so I can understand why someone might be angry for being accused on breaking and entering on his own property.

Hmmmm. I remember an interviewer asked Alfred Hitchcock something like,
“You make scary movies. So, what scares You?”
And Hitchcock said, “The Police. Because they are the only people in the world who can say, “Hey you! Come here.” And you have to do as they say.”

Personally I don’t know many White people who gave the Police a hard time and got away with it. Even if the Police overstep their boundries, to give them a hard time about it is not going to illicit a sympathetic response. Right or wrong (and I’m not saying the Police can’t be wrong) it just shows an extraordinary lack of good judgement to respond to their requests with beligerence.
