Rovin, There are is no such thing as an ex-marine. The term Former Marine is correct.

While I humbly stand corrected, and agree with you, the word “former” can mean something that elapsed into the past. And while I understand that when a Marine is no longer in active duty, they could be called “former Marines”, I still prefer to consider them Marines without the adjective, the greatest fighting force in U.S. history.
