Yes, the troops loved Pres. Bush. In fairness, though, it’s very possible that at Pres. Obama’s speech, they had been called to attention before he entered. They were playing “Hail to the Chief” after all, so the event was treated with some formality. And, if I remember right (I think I saw the beginning of this speech as I was getting ready for work), they had the national Anthem sung right before his entrance… I remember thinking of the AAFES movie theaters, and wondered if Obama’s performance was going to stack up.
