Gold isn’t protein, but humans are. We need to understand that it’s only the idea that we should give certain values to both, that gives certain values to either.

If we are so determined to careen into anarchy, the rest of the world, already armed, arming more, & daily increasingly ready, is unlikely to wall us off, or allow us to wall ourselves off, and look the other way for long. Revenge, and the value of the beauty and utility of our vast spaces, our rivers and lakes, mountains and fertile plains, coasts and harbors and highways will be too much to hope for that.

The spectacle we have before us now, the spectacle we have placed before the world, is of vast bonfires of world history’s hard-won and critically needed knowledge & wealth going up in flames, and not due to sad but sinless nature, but due rather to the whim of acolytes of an abstract theory –actually an undetailed outline of a proposed abstract theory.

If this is how it must be, the discussion now should perhaps shift to whether we invite Mr. Putin in now, or after the ICBM launch.

I say, why not now –if the global crime syndicate has taken over, we might as well climb aboard a strong horse as fall off a Chicago donkey.
