“Often times we forget that many apologists are simply afraid.”
Forget it? It’s always been my belief that most of the apologists for Islam do so out of fear.
Rabid feminists, or Gay activists, who are silent about Islam’s horrific treatment of women and gays? Even anti western attitudes doesn’t account for some of them praising Islam.
I find it interesting, how many of these apologists are public personalities. People whose names and face are well known.
Often well known around the world. People who oft times make their livings in the public square and are thus incapable of leaving it for any length of time.
Rebecca Schaeffer. Gianni Versace. John Lennon. They were killed by “simple” stalkers. Now imagine being the target of some Islamic Fundamentalist who would go to almost any lengths to kill their target. Even if they don’t fear for their own safety, there are always the people around them – family, friends, associates.
Most don’t, or can’t, live inside a “Secret Service” type bubble. So they kowtow, and hope that no one is willing to drive a car bomb through their front door.
There are disadvantages to having your face on millions of silver screens, world wide television or hundreds of thousands of book jackets.
