Sorry – That’s not good enough. What we are talking about is not the motivation of those who illegally cross national borders but the legal justification for taking action against them. If such a nation has the legal basis to take such action then the motivation of those seeking to illegal entry is irrelevant. Just answer one question. Does the U.S. have the right to enforce the security of it’s borders and the process that provides for legal immigration? If we do then you have to accept that action against Mexican illegals is justified regardless of their motivation. If not then we should open the check-points and say “come on in.” That is the real problem with the proposed Arizona law. It is, in effect, putting the issue in these very concrete terms and everyone on the Left is frantically trying to find a way of avoiding it.
