I want to underscore the fact that it is not just Barack Obama who is living in la-la land. It’s the whole apparat. The suits in Washington have ingested and then regurgitated the neo-Keynesian socialist pabulum that mesmerized elite opinion some time in the 1960s and has never let go.
But we are letting go. By “we” I mean the people who these fools and scoundrels in Washington have misled. They couldn’t help it. They don’t know any better. How cruel it is going to be when the mentally-challenged Joe Biden is exposed as the Grecian formula empty shell that he is. And Barack Obama . . . It was a good show while it lasted. If you closed your eyes and said “spread the wealth” he might have seemed, for a moment, like a serious politician. Really, as everyone sees now, he is a Gatsby-like figure who smiles and smiles but is imploding before our eyes.
On a summer-stock stage, it might have been an illuminating melodrama. Alas, we threw caution to the winds and elected someone who resented this country, was suspicious of wealth, and whose reflexive commitment to left-wing nostrums would gravely damage the most productive economy the world has ever seen. Tens or hundreds of thousands of people will suffer because of our naïveté and Barack Obama’s malevolent stupidity.
How much worse does it have to get? It’s time that we grew up and demanded that the people entrusted with the nation’s business acted like adults.

Well and (justifiably) painfully said, Roger! Let us hope that a wider recognition of this awful reality results from the current synergy in leadership catastrophes. More to the point, let us hope that something more than their current cliches comes from the newly-energized right wing of the opposition party; that it eschews such politically suicidal adventures as getting serious about getting rid of Roe v. Wade, about getting God back into and Darwinism out of the pubic school classoom, demanding constitutional amendments that have no chance of passing in time to make any but a negative political difference. And of course let us hope that we get an Obama opponent candidate who is experienced, articulate-energetic, AND, AND, AND smart enough, courageous enough, to recognize that the enthusiasms listed above can, if pushed hard enough, send all the angry Independents right back to Barack (et alii).
Paul is right. We need a RINO dimwit like Mitt Romney to lead the American people.
Or better than a RINO, let’s just reelect Obama and hope things get better.
Yeah, that should work.
Or maybe we can get John McCain, that Great American Hero, aka Great American RINO, aka Great American Friendly Failure, to run again…I understand he has a lot of experience in presidential campaigns. He also wouldn’t muck up the water with all that anti-abortion, anti-illegal-immigrant, anti-homosexual, pro-right-wing-radical stuff, so everybody could just float along happy with his snorting, friendly nothingness. Until the morning after, when we all wake up with the Obama hangover again.
You think things are bad with OScamma, the empty Red Suit, Barbecuer-in-Chief in charge…Well if ole politically savvy McCain had been in charge, he would have had guaranteed passage of all the obnoxious, despicable RINO, Dhimmicrat, cap and trade, illegal immigrant nonsense, that the current prez is only capable of hoping for.
@Harris – you really have to get used to the idea that you live in a democracy, pal. Roe v Wade is not going anywhere because a very large segment don’t want it to and half the people who do not like it consider it a tertiary issue. Gay marriage is favored by most in a “don’t care” kind of way even if you think you have strong arguments against it. Biblical literalism simply has no traction (thank God) in politics. Etc. When Roger says ‘grow up’, your kind of sneering name calling is exactly what he is referring to.
Mark B. is so right. A lot of Bible thumping is going to send Independents into the arms of the dems. or, more probably, keep them from voting. Those so upset about so-called RINOs never seem to realize that there is something other than their way or that they are not the only intelligent beings on the earth.
“It’s time that we grew up and demanded that the people entrusted with the nation’s business acted like adults.”
It’s a sad irony of life that if one is actually capable of acting like an adult, you wouldn’t need to demand he do so in the first place.
“How much worse does it have to get? It’s time that we grew up and demanded that the people entrusted with the nation’s business acted like adults.”
Indeed, we are in the mess of our own making. Milton Friedman once said the goal is not to elect the “right people” but rather make it politically advantageous for the wrong people to do the right thing.
Obama is a clue-less neophyte but we’re the ones who put him there. We won’t have adults in DC until we have adults in the voting booth. I’m not sanguine about that.
Let’s hope it’s only tens or hundreds of thousands. I always knew people were going to die because Obama was President (most of them overseas); I just wasn’t sure about the order of magnitude.
To downseize America a lot of liberals (the European way and in Europe) “voted” for Obama.
I don’t like that cat, BHO!
How much worse can it get? Ask Carter.
Lots of people, mostly little people like me, have been saying this for a long time. Glad to see that the chattering classes are finally paying attention.
What’s needed now is, of course, draconian austerity measures. And, such is democracy, it will never happen. Better start stockpiling food supplies, investing in land, and forming small cooperative communities. In other words, get off the economic grid – it’s about to collapse. The true culprit isn’t Republicans or Democrats or Obama or… It’s greed and ego, which know no party boundaries. There is no cure, except nature’s – and it won’t be sweet.
The key word here is panic. It seems as if overnight panic buttons everywhere on the Left have been pounded and all hands are moving to battlestations in the Capitol, in the press and on the blogs. Never since my political awakening in February of ’09 have I seen such vitriol being heaped upon the heads of conservatives. Panic, and reality, have frozen The Narrative into the bluntest of objects.
But demanding that the people entrusted with the nation’s business act like adults is a joke. That is not going to happen. There is no respect for us, so it doesn’t matter what we demand, nor how politely. Surely we can come up with a better, more motivating solution than this. We have to, and soon. How about a pitchfork rally in Washington D.C.?
You don’t need pitchforks and in fact they’d be counterproductive. Roger is right, a candidate that simply acts like an adult will attract a huge vote. The panic on the left is exactly what will turn most people off. If the right talks crazy in response, it will just put them on equal footing.
Devastating. Horrifying.
America has been betrayed by this cesspool of arrogance, idiocy, and corruption in DC. It isn’t just incompetence, as Roger explains so well – Obama is deeply malevolent – and I’ll adhe some words he doesnt use: Obama is a dangerous radical – a genuine fanatic…
He is certainly all of that. But he has always been so, and he was groomed, financed, and elected to do just what he has already done: ruin our nation. Several authors have written about his deliberate plan to to so, to turn this once-ideal Republic into a socialist, then communist, shambles, ripe for the picking by the globalists. Nations have been trying to defeat us for many decades, and with Obama we chose him ourselves and gave him the latitude to do us in. Nikita Khrushchev was right, it would come from within, we’d do it to ourselves. Will we let the final blow be struck, or will we throw him out in time?
I’m also wondering about his mental health!?
“More to the point, let us hope that something more than their current cliches comes from the newly-energized right wing of the opposition party”
*Warning* RINO Alert *Warning*
One correction:
Alas, we threw caution to the winds and elected someone who resented this country, was suspicious of OTHERS’ wealth, and whose reflexive commitment to left-wing nostrums would gravely damage the most productive economy the world has ever seen.
B. H. Obama has no problem accumulating personal wealth himself. He just doesn’t want too many others to have it, because that reduces his ability to exert power over us. He’s like a six-year-old with a magnifying glass, looking for ants to burn.
And I saw right through this arrogant, bumbling fraud the second he appeared on the national stage. Only a genuine idiot could have thought a community organizer from Chicago would make a good president.
“Only a genuine idiot could have thought a community organizer from Chicago would make a good president.”
Hear! Hear!

I especially liked “malevolent stupidity”.
Ditto! Great phrase, Roger.
The most unexpected thing about the Obama recession of 2011 is how many people failed to expect it. The US economy was like a giant locomotive, derailing in a slow-motion movie, and yet, the multiple well-respected experts could not foresee the coming crush. The obvious root cause of the blindness of the liberal economists is, at its core, their profound ignorance of how the economy works. They just do not understand the most basic things about the wealth creation.
Anyway, I wrote an entire post on this subject – if you are interested, click on my name and you will get there.
While watching a 1940s film the other day, I was struck how far down California has sunk. There was a bit of dialogue where the male lead was telling the female soon-to-be-love interest how dynamic an economy California had; how many people are moving there every year. Back then, California was on the upswing of its success.
Look at it now — overdrawn, with overpriced real estate, taxes which are too high, and a public sector union which is literally bankrupting the citizens of the state. What happened in the course of seventy years?
Washington wants to make the very same mistakes and has been for decades. The federal government isn’t lagging too far behind California’s lead. And now we learn that DC spent more than our entire GDP last year.
Yet the left screams like a bunch of whiny babies if anyone suggests we need to cut the size and scope of government. “That’s crazy talk!” “It’s terrorism!” “It’s kidnappers with guns to our heads!”
Really? At the very least, anyone who claims that there’s plenty of money to sustain Washington’s profligate spending habits is bad at math. Because DC spent more than every single cent of wealth created in the private sector last year. No amount of higher taxes and fake cuts will balance those budgetary books. At worst, such people who clamor for even more spending belong in a padded cell, because they’re reality challenged.
The left constantly claims that we need government to help those who can’t help themselves, but do we really? Let’s try a thought experiment:
Let’s say you want to help people and you have two dollars to do it. You give one to a charity and one to government. The charity has volunteers who work for it, so there’s very little in overhead costs they need to meet before they can put your dollar to work helping the needy. But that dollar which takes a side trip to DC? A Treasury employee sends the dollar (minus the cost of his wage, pension, and benefits) to whatever agency it’s going to. Let’s say it’s going to Health and Human Services. Then the HHS employee sends the money to whatever person or group petitioned the government for assistance. Of course, now the dollar has gotten pretty lean, since it’s paid the partial salary, pension, and benefits of at least two or three federal employees, along with the overhead costs of running the office buildings where they work.
By the time your DC dollar got to the people it “helped,” it was mere pennies.
So how is sending money to Washington to help people actually helping the intended recipients? From my perspective, it seems like an awful lot of time and talent flushed down a toilet.
There’s a war of ideas coming between those who believe bigger government is better and those who don’t. Most of America is in the latter camp… yet the media and politicians, along with leftie idealists and radicals won’t easily give up their beliefs that somehow government makes everything more fair. In reality, all it does is make everyone poorer, because that’s over a trillion dollars annually removed from the private sector — where it could create jobs and spread wealth to all, albeit not entirely evenly — and flushed away on nothing of value.
DC was built on a swamp. It appears the swamp has reclaimed its lost territory.
Hanlon’s Razor states that one should never attribute to malice what is adequately explained by stupidity.
Very little that the left does is even remotely explained by stupidity.
They aren’t stupid. They aren’t naive or foolish either. What they are is evil.
There are foolish and naive leftists to be sure, but leftism is merely what their foolishness and naiveté have made them susceptible to. Had leftism not come along to take advantage of them, Scientology or some other psychotic mind control cult would have done the job instead.
The left cannot be defeated so long as we continue to pretend that their intentions are honorable. That is why we fail. We afford them the presumption of decency. We should threat them like the scoundrels and devils they truly are.
“The left cannot be defeated so long as we continue to pretend that their intentions are honorable”
Missing a dart board 100 times in a row doesn’t mean that you are bad at throwing darts, it means that you aren’t trying to hit the board.
Bad enough, all of the dumb cluck voters who voted for Obama because they think he’s so smart.
Try getting what you say through the thick skulls of all the smarty-pants who think he’s so stupid.
Actually, I know people who voted for Obama because Biden was his running mate.
So do I. He thought Palin was just so stupid and was worried about assasination and weak hearts. But he was a woman hater from the get-go because of what his ex did to him.
The good deal is he’s feeling some serious pain. He justifies it in his mind with “It would have been the same with McCain.”
“They aren’t stupid. They aren’t naive or foolish either. What they are is evil.”
Calling them evil is not a useful tactic because anyone on the fence about Obama and the Progressive elites will not be swayed by such an overstatement. The real problem is that they are hypocritical, self-serving control freaks blinded by ideological principles that do not hold up for anyone with a modicum of logical thinking ability at their disposal. Worse yet, in elementary or high school, I am sure most of them were that kid whose shoe was removed and tossed onto the roof. So part of their life’s work is to get back at all of us.
Obama’s malevolent stupidity
What a sublime turn of phrase, well done sir.
What’s that I hear on the wind?
Someone blowing on a RINO call?
There is no way that the US will not implode. There is still not a single person in the country that understands what this is about. I have been yelling and screaming since 2005. Nobody listens. It’s like screaming in space.
The problem is the housing market. The housing market is driving the economy. So as long as the housing market is in a slump, there will be no recovery. Get it into your thick skulls.
Right now a ridiculous number of mortgages are under water. And the big problem is that once a buyer is found for a property on sale, it takes on average 6 months to finish the deal, because the banks don’t want to finance the deficit. This causes the prices to keep falling and feeding this monster in a never ending loop.
Solve this and you solve the financial crises. But not ONE person understands it, so I have no hopes what so ever. Not a single person have even bothered to respond to the thousands of comments I have posted literally everywhere since 2005.
Absolutely right. The housing market is the economic driver that provides jobs,
goods, and services not to mention the dream of most to own their own castle.
Please note, “Infrastructure” spending does not put construction workers back to work. No carpenters, electricans, plumbers, roofers, etc., only Union hacks and large contractors to pave over existing roads.
Wrong. There’s nothing special and magical about housing that makes it exempt from the laws of supply and demand, so that it just HAS to be a rising market always and forever amen. We had a huge misallocation of resources into housing in the last ten years. You and others will just have to accept that the house you paid a quarter-million for simply isn’t worth that any more.
I agree with Josh S. Moreover, the economic impact of the collapse in the housing market is almost certainly overstated. Even people who are severely underwater in their mortgages are ok if they can make the mortgage payments. For generations, nobody even considered pulling equity out of their permanent residence. Why? because it’s stupid, that’s why.
So the problem really is centered on people who can’t pay their mortgages. If there were or are 10 million of them, if all of the value of those mortgages was a total loss (it isn’t), and if the average mortgage was $200,000 (they weren’t that high), then the total financial impact was 2 trillion dollars. Well, the increase in federal spending since “the crisis” is about 6 trillion dollars. We could have paid off every underwater mortgage in the country and leased the houses back at 25% of the mortgage payment and saved the country AT LEAST 4 trillion dollars.
But our criminal politicians chose to funnel 6 trillion to their buddies on Wall Street, in the Unions, and in the hood instead.
Government is the problem, not the housing market.
Housing is over priced relative to rents. The fantasy of an investment that will go up 16% a year every year, and infinite free credit to keep people in the market is just that, a fantasy.
Roger,
Could be that when you claim to be the single, solitary, ONLY person on earth to get it, it’s just a tad….off-putting.
And I am being polite.
I regret to have to tell you that you won’t get a change in behavior from the regime until you’ve changed the regime. The current one is fixed in its course by ideological commitments and emotional forces that are utterly immune to our conceptions of right, justice, or the national interest.
Adult behavior comes from adults. Adults are formed by decades of abrasion against reality: from being compelled to endure the consequences of their decisions and actions. No one in the Obama Administration, and damned few in the Democrat Party, have run that gauntlet.
“No one in the Obama Administration, and damned few in the Democrat Party, have run that gauntlet.”
Just what accounts for this apparent insularity from the consequences of their actions? The MSM? Stupid voters? Inquiring minds…….
Please note that this phenomenon never seems to apply to the Republican Party. Why is that?
My late mother (1913-1998) once said that nobody becomes a Republican in the hope of being popular. Popularity, of the “let’s all hang with the cool kids” type, is what the Democratic Party is all about. And she knew, from firsthand experience.
She came from a family of hardcore Democrats, and was a Democrat herself from registering to vote at age 21 to the presidential election of 1952, having voted for FDR and Truman up to that point. She changed to Republican then, because (as she put it) nothing the Democratic candidate (Adlai Stevenson) said made the slightest bit of sense.
Her family virtually ostracized her after that. Through the Sixties and Seventies they veered from being FDR “New Deal” Democrats to even more sharply left in a uniquely “Appalachian” Democrat way. Among other things, they disliked Jews intensely, considered blacks and other minorities “inferior”, but insisted that the Democratic Party needed them to “keep the Republican robber barons” out of power. (They just didn’t want to deal with them otherwise.)
In 1952 and ’56 she voted for Eisenhower. In 1960 she voted for JFK. She voted for Goldwater in ’64, Humphrey in ’68, and “None of the Above” in ’72. (She stated that no matter who won that year, the American people would be losers because there would be an idiot in the Oval Office.) Her later votes were, in order, Ford, Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Bush, Dole.
She rarely voted a “straight ticket”, up to that point, because she believed in voting for the person, not the party. But after Carter and Mondale, she concluded that the Democratic Party had completely taken leave of its senses, and never voted for a Democrat for anything, period. In her words, a “hobo off the railroad tracks” would have made a better President than any of the Democratic candidates from McGovern on.
When I came of voting age (1976), she told me that she didn’t care which party I registered in, as long as i voted. After careful consideration, I went to the Board of Elections, registered as a member of the Republican Party, came back home, and told her it was technically her fault.
“Why?” she asked.
I looked her straight in the eye, and said,
“Mother, you were the one who taught me that it was a bad idea to get mixed up with anybody weirder than I am”.
And considering how strange I am (having read SF from age two, among other things), that should tell you all you need to know about the fundamental differences between Republicans and Democrats. Or at least the differences between those here in “Flyover Country”.
cheers
eon
Who said it didn’t apply to the Republican Party? Let’s try expanding that RINO acronym again “Republicans in Name Only”.
The Republican Party is packed full of big government career politicians..
Just what the heck is a career steer politician supposed to do when 47% times 350 million Americans are on the dole? And a good portion of them wouldn’t think twice about burning the country to the ground if they don’t get their monthly check?
Unfortunately, Roger, we are well past the point where improved acumen or attitude will make a difference. We have created an enormous structural problem that requires a solution no one is talking about today. In a nutshell:
Corporations and public-sector workers do not pay taxes in any real sense. Corporations pass their taxes along to customers as a cost of doing business. Public sector workers are paid from tax revenues. After the first year, some taxes of public sector workers pretty much just recycle, but all other costs of employing public workers have to be paid in anew continuously by earners, that is, workers in the private sector, the ultimate payers of all taxes.
With that background, let’s look fifty years back when just over five percent of jobs were in the public sector–local, state or federal govt, school systems, public universities, research, etc. That equates to 1 in 19 workers. Back then, public workers made less than average, and it took the taxes of roughly 2 earners to cover their salaries, taxes and benefits. That left 16 out of every 19 taxpayers to pay for all the other stuff–Social Security, aircraft carriers, satellites, schools and libraries, highways and pothole filling.
Fast forward to today and the public sector, our one non-productive sector, has grown four-fold as a percentage of GDP. (In Management 101 you learn DO NOT GROW COST UNITS!) Finance and electronics have grown marginally; all other sectors have declined as a pctg of GDP.
That leaves us with 22 million govt workers at all levels and 8 million teachers, university workers and so on also paid out of tax revenues as against full-time-equiv job numbers hovering around 150 million (having lost a coupla million over the last three years). In other words, the non-productive sector now is home to 1 worker out of every 5. And their salaries and esp benefits have gone up. It now takes 3 earners to pay for 1 public worker. That leaves 1 worker in 5 to pay for everything else!
And that is a formula for catastrophic debt generation after generation. It means that killing jobs and smothering ourselves with debt is built right into our scale of government. If we do not stop runaway govt now and drive the public sector back to where it was in the 1960s as a percentage of the economy, we are flat doomed. The only way we get back to productivity and prosperity is to increase the ratio of private- to public-sector workers dramatically.
Excellently well put — but add to that that our power to leverage against our existing capital assets has sunk near to zero. There are elements of self-deception, both ongoing and recently rejected, in the stew…and a bitter thing it is, indeed.
Yup, that’s what happens when the grabbermint runs out of other people’s money!
Exactly. Here’s an overview of the last 3 years:
When will somebody start showing us “private sector GDP growth” vs “public sector GDP growth”?
That is the key. Every public sector dollar spent is a DRAIN on the economy, because it has to be clawed out of the back of the private sector.
Here is a rough estimate:
GDP data:
2008 – $14.4 Trillion
2009 – $14.1 T
2010 – $14.5 T
2011 – $14.8 T (estimate)
On the surface, it look like there has been modest growth, doesn’t it?
But Federal government spending has “skyrocketed”:
2008 – $3.0 Trillion (including TARP which distorts the amount high)
2009 – $3.5 T
2010 – $3.5 T
2011 – $3.8 T (estimate)
So the most important number, Private sector GDP (Total GDP les federal spending) looks like this:
2008 – $11.4 Trillion
2009 – $10.6 Trillion
2010 – $11.0 Trillion
2011 – $11.0 Trillion
From wikipedia “In economics, a depression is a sustained, long-term downturn in economic activity in one or more economies.”
“sustained, long-term downturn” 2008 – $11.4T 2011 – $11.0T. But that doesn’t include the demographic growth of the country. The country has grown about 1% per year since 2000. So, if you adjust GDP backwards for 3 years of population growth, the private sector numbers are: 2008 – $11.7T 2011 – 11.0T. (note: it’s much worse if TARP is included.)
We have been in a depression for 3 years. The Obama Depression. Three years after his domestic and international supporters tanked the financial markets to sieze the presidency, GDP is effectively 94% of what it was at when he took over. Normal growth in our country would have the eonomy at 111% after 3 years prior. The growth during the Bush years would have put us at 107.5% after 3 years.
Another way to look at it is that economic activity in the private sector is 15% lower than what it should be at. And that correlates very closely with personal income. That’s why you feel poorer by the way. That’s a lot, not a marginal amount.
But not to worry, the bureaucrats are experiencing an unprecedented boom. The are fat and sassy.
Proreason….
You omit the dollars removed from the domestic economy by private sector….
Foreign investment
foreign profits.
If you are suggesting that the shift of American jobs overseas accounts for the the Obama depression, which I seriously doubt, then it is even more damning for the current administration. Obama’s “job czar”, Jeffrey Immelt, is the post child of shifting work offshore.
But aside from that, if you think that China is stealing American jobs, as many do think, then why has the government spent 2.8T in new government spending in the last three years susidizing crony capitalists, feeding money into the black hole of government unions, creating thousands of pages of onerous new regulations and restricting industry in this country (energy, utilities, financial industries to name a few) rather than negotiating better trade agreements and funding American industries?
Proreason…Investment capital from both government and private sectors have long, very long, invested in China and India…and many others around the globe. In the very early 80′s we poured investment capital and expertise into China. In the early 90′s, America’s private sector began to look at and move segments of their operations to those financed emerging economies. It has continued and during the Bush administration accelerated more and during the short term of Obama accelerated even more.
More recently since the 90′s, I beleieve we’ve been, as a nation, collecting the ROI. Preperation H, anybody? Of course, that is not the sole causations for a crumbling and collapsed American economy.
This article has a lot of growing up to do (in a writing class):
1) The ‘Hussein’ middle name thing is juvenile, and unnecessary. what does that have to do with the economy? oh, it’s just an aside, a wink to the reader that we’re all in on teasing Obama about his irrelevant middle name. How does this promote your argument? It makes you look unserious.
2) Do you actually know what a Potemkin Village is? I don’t see how the construction of villages to shield Catherine the Great from the plights of her rural subjects relates. At all. How is this in any way like the situation over which Obama is presiding, except for the tenuous connection that some people are facing economic hard times? St. Petersburg itself could not have been a Potemkin Village, and Washington can’t be one either. This is a badly used metaphor (and metaphors should be avoided anyways when the point could be easily made).
3) But maybe you’re having a hard time making your point? The whole article is incoherent. It has no driving thesis (except perhaps that Obama rules over Washington like a man-child yet at the same time a socialist overlord, and we need adults in the room? That’s pretty vague. What will these adults do, except not be the same ‘fools and scoundrels in Washington’ (cliches should also be avoided)?
4) Calling the vice-president ‘mentally challenged’ is as childish as the many borish taunts lobbed at Bush and Cheney and Palin by the left. It’s certainly not adult.
In the end, after many attempts to imbue the text with stylistic swagger, there’s not much information. But that’s not the point is it? The point is to get hits and page views by preaching to the choir, not to push the discussion further in a thoughtful attempt to make your words count. Instead, you set your readers on a troika tour of talking points that appeal to them and in no way force them to confront their thinking in any way. There’s your Potemkin Village.
…’push the discussion’…’thoughtful attempt’…’confront their thinking’…
all ‘bullspeak’ intended to obfuscate, keep people in constant dialog over the phone to the firehouse while the building burns down around their ears, endless badgering badgering badgering until people give up in exhaustion and hand the bottle back to the addict.
In other words, to stay in control of the conversation to your liking.
You mean the way they called Nixon ‘Richard Milhouse Nixon’? Or FDR Franklin Delano? Or the derisive way they referred to President Bush as ‘Dubya’?
Look you fool, if, in fact you are any kind of conservative, which I seriously doubt, you’d better begin to understand that being ‘better men’ than the opposition just ain’t working. It’s long past time to start fighting fire with fire, especially in light of the fact that the very same ‘children’ we rail against have been teaching our children in democrat indoctrination centers for decades.
It’s time to start doing what works.
“It’s time that we grew up and demanded that the people entrusted with the nation’s business acted like adults.”
‘Couldn’t agree more. However, how do you grow-up a chronically petulant and infantile Barack Hussein Obama? He’s 50, for crying out loud — a 50-year-old baby posing as the President of the United States.
I can’t think of anything more scary; my advice under normal circumstances would be “head for the hills!” except that there aren’t any hills left to head for.
I’m not sure who said this in the past few days but comparing our “leaders” to a multitude of children running with scissors is fearfully accurate.
Every day that the dems don’t turn on Obama translates into another week that they will be out of power after their election debacle next year. Thanks to the Bamster they already have a sizable bank account built up; do they want to keep adding to it?
Why, o why is it politically incorrect or just bad manners to mention the President’s middle name? Has anyone noticed that the President’s first name is that of the Prophet’s horse, the one he rode on his visit to Heaven? BHM
The message of this article connects well to advice I gave to my son. We were sitting in Balad Irag in 2008 (he National Guard and I Army Reserve) discussion the coming election. He was trying to parse the talking points of the candidates, which I suggest was a waste of time. Instead I suggested that he look back to what the candidates were doing in early in their careers or life as that sets a foundation for how they approach problems as they get older (outside of some major life changing experiances) Looking at the then candidate Obama it was clear, irrespective of he said in his campain, that he would not lead or even direct, as he had not ever taken such a role in the past. He had others to provide direction and, upon occation, even actions for him. As I told my son I would struggle to hire him as a department manager or other position requiring actual leadership. Why would we have expected any different. On the other had I guess the 2008 election shows that people would like to attend any party even if it is simply to watch a train wreck. I should point out that my son considered me a cynic at the time – somehow that opinion has changed
To “Harris Tweed” and fellow travelers: No, we certainly don’t need “a RINO dimwit like Mitt Romney to lead the American people.” However, I know no evidence that he’s a dimwit, and the definition of RINO rests with the definer, not with any measurable reality. Nor am I an enthusiast of Romney’s candidacy. What we do need, however, if there is to be any hope of emerging from the exploding disaster of the entitlement/ nanny state, is for a politician (or politicians)WHO CAN WIN — against demography and the media, hugely massed against any opponent to Obama. On current evidence, I don’t see much chance for winning with any canadidate and platform equal and opposite, pep-rally style, on all issues, to — well — SEIU.
This country is being led by prospective contestants for The Biggest Government Loser.
The fiscally obese, the bloated government, the corpulent regulators. We are all Truman’s trapped in a harsh reality show.
Shedding fiscal fat globules by the metric ton will be a grotesque, sweaty, spasmodic and sometimes intensely painful experience. It will not be fun to watch, but like many colossal wreckages…at times impossible to turn away…we will watch, in horror and revulsion.
We will watch as the lure for our loser leftists’ social program addiction to deep fried Twinkies and Ho-Ho’s overpowers them …being mostly Twinkies and Ho-Ho’s themselves, exposing the “you are what you eat, fiscally speaking” thesis, which is settled science…I declare it.
Being deeply fried much of the time, the Twinkies and Ho-Ho’s of the left can’t help themselves, fighting off the Fiscal Munchies takes a willpower of epic proportions…hard enough when one is not deeply fried…and when one is not genetically predisposed to fiscal addictive tendencies.
Finding telltale Twinkie and Ho-Ho wrappers and crumbs hidden in otherwise bare legislative cupboards, under the unmade beds of unscored budget “speeches” and behind now wordless teleprompters…will give us hints as to the eventual title holder…for Biggest Government Loser this season.
The greatest horror movie ever told. It could scare you out of your mind.
We of the Tea Party, and we of the Counterjihad, grew up a long time ago. In my case, a VERY long time ago! Yes, I’m what Rush calls a “seasoned citizen”!
It’s the leftist/pro-jihadi axis that needs to grow up!
See: Why Modern Liberals Are 100% Wrong About Everything
I will link to this from my Old Jarhead blog. Unfortunately, all of Obama’s cherished beliefs and the demands of his base are anti growth. Give the unions what they want to drive jobs overseas. Pass tough “green” laws to kill jobs and growth. Support the highest corporate tax rate in the world to drive jobs overseas. Oppose free trade at union behest to kill exports. Tax the “rich” who own small businesses, which create the most jobs. Increase government spending and borrowing to reward the non-productive sectors of the economy who vote for him. Then find someone to blame the resulting economic disaster on. We are drifting close to the abyss of fiscal collapse followed by social collapse, followed by bloodshed—but the loudest voices are still crying, “Don’t cut me.”

and guess how our pretender in chief GOT there? Millions of VOTERS, captivated by the Potemkin Village that the campaign promised them, and too LAZY or GREEDY to look behind the Hollywood false walls, PUT him and his czars and patsies in the white house. The only good thing can be said about this is that the shock of reality, the false fronts coming apart before our very eyes, has led to the awakening and rubbing the junk out of the eyes of at least a few of those so duped. Perhaps, if this trend continues, a REAL and significant awakening might take place. The empty promise of hope and change provoked the entrenched greed of far too many. When the gold poke is revealed to be empty, the larceny in the heart of many will prove powerless, then real change and a solid hope can revive.
When they have bothered to respond, it was – and is – to rail against you for warning them…or for merely asking them to research the issues for themselves.
Many Americans are finally waking up…but many are still alseep or in denial. Many Republicans and conservatives are still among the latter.
I was going to say more, but what’s the point? Left and right are taking the path of violence…and both sides will be shocked and aghast when it inevitably occurs, blaming everyone but themselves for what happens.
The only question is which among them gets to put their enemies on the cattlecars…and ship them to camps.
“Left and right are taking the path of violence…”
Surely you aren’t talking about the recent spate of black-on-white violent incidents that are popping up here & there like little mushrooms (latest one near Milwaukee at a state fair), now, are you? Not sure what the right has to do with that.
We can only hope now at this point that Obama is only an inept wretch rather than a scheming Piven ideologue wrecker. In such a short time he has caused so much damage to the financial structure and defense systems of our country I can only believe him to be the manchurian candidate that some thought him to be all along.
Millions of us weren’t misled. This man is not only inexperienced but criminal. His friends include the Muslim Brotherhood and Weather Underground. He is here at their bidding. Others are Geroge Soros and members of the UN. They need to be kicked out of this country.
Obama is committing economic terrorism, as well as those helping him. He shouldn’t have been permitted to reach the White House. When questions arose about who he really is, his birthplace, college records, health records, etc. Congress had an obligation to answer those questions. They do serve the people after all. They are complicit in this.
My hope is all of those involved and those who sat silent are punished for their silence.
Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.
—Dietrich Bonhoeffer
You said it! Criminal. That’s what he is.
When falling without a parachute, flapping your arms (or your gums) won’t help.
I do believe it is more flapping of gums with no real intelligent thought coming out of them…he’s a blowhard!
Communists map out Obama agenda
Immediately following the November 2008 presidential election, WND reported the Communist Party USA mapped out policies crucial for Obama to push through in his first term, including a “single payer” socialist health-care system; laws to make joining a labor union easier; raising the minimum wage and increasing labor union support.
In May 2009, WND reported the leader of the Communist Party USA declared that with Obama as president, health care and the economy can be “reformed,” U.S. troops can be evacuated from the Middle East, a second stimulus bill can be passed, the criminal justice system can be overhauled and union rights can be expanded.
“All these – and many other things – are within our reach now!” exclaimed Webb in a New York banquet speech for the People’s Weekly World, the official newspaper of the Communist Party USA.

“Happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected.” George Washington
But I thought Obama was supposed to be so “brilliant?” After all, he WAS the editor of the Harvard Law Review, so I guess that qualifies you to be president of the United States, right? I was sick and tired of hearing from liberals how “brilliant” this guy was supposed to be, like a “college professor.” Yup, this guy was JUST like a college professor, insulated from the real with with absolutely no business experience. And THAT is the guy running the biggest economy in the world. But what about all those “brilliant” people Obama was going to surround himself with, especially those “great” economists? Well, they’re all gone now, having left the Titanic before it went down. And what about that infamous “Team of Rivals,” you know, the ones that was supposed to bring all that “brilliance to the White House?
It was all a lie. It was all spin created by the Obama campaign and tied up in a lovely bow by the main stream media, who carried this idiot’s water throughout the entire campaing, and is still doing so now. Next time we have an election, how about we elect a president that has actually DONE something, either in government or in the private sector? That would be a refreshing change from Obama, wouldn’t it?
You seriously expect the mouth-breathing, undereducated cattle-like citizens that teachers have given us in the last three generations to “elect a president that has actually DONE something”?
No American Cicero goes into the well of the Senate to denounce the usurper.
Only clowns pretending to be entrepeneurs clamor for the mob’s attention.
No Julius, no Marcus Aurelius arise. Generals are neutralized or held in thrall of their careers.
Given the trajectory of our politics, only a real live thespian will succeed this marionette. Perhaps Sean Penn?
We have gone well past the ‘tipping point’. It’s over.
BTW, “brilliant”? Practically none of Obama’s ‘classmates’ remember him at Occidental, Columbia or Harvard.
I love the “malevolent stupdity!” I also love what a caller to Rush said of liberals that they were “financial pedophiles.” These terms are so succinct in describing liberals. I hope everyone starts adopting these phrases and uses them incessantly- that would be fun to watch.

Well said!
Bad enough, all of the dumb cluck voters who voted for Obama because they think he’s so smart.
Try getting what you say through the thick skulls of all the smarty-pants who think he’s so stupid.
Ah, but the problem is that there are so many “Americans” who have themselves not yet grown up, though they have passed (and sometimes long passed!) the 30 year mark.
Things have come to such a pass that I feel kind of sorry for Barack Obama. Not enough to wish him reelection, of course, or even to wish him well, but enough to recognize that he is a little man who fell victim to his own upbringing and associations, and most of all because he cannot seem to learn from his mistakes.
Is he evil? I think not. Evil requires intelligence and an innate talent, and is almost always faceless. It doesn’t thrive in one who displays only incompetence and mental rigidity, which have sadly come to the fore in Barack Obama.
In Spring 2008, I said BHO was as dumb as a box of rocks. After January 2009, I said he is the dumbest man to occupy the White House. I have not changed my mind or been proven wrong. It’s sad, but great to see others start to agree.
I got as far as “I was going to write Barack Hussein Obama, but…” and stopped right there. This idiot begins his piece with the premise of “growing up” with some sort of acquiescence to liberal asininity concerning the use of Hussein. I am sick to death of “conservatives” who don’t have the balls to take the fight directly to the enemy. And you don’t get there by letting the enemy set the terms of the debate. Indeed, the author himself should “grow up”!
No real panic will set in til those still happily sucking on the public teat go for one more instinctual suck (endlessly repeated) . . . and come up dry. Then expect the wailing to commence. Those unweaned liberal babies will then have a tough choice: either starve or grow up fast. Darwin’s way or the highway. Those who plan now for the coming Holocaust should do fine. But any way you slice it, it won’t be pretty.
Call him by his Twitter handle
Roger, tell your Liberal friend’s to go suck an egg! Barak Hussein Obama is a Musslim and is not stupid. He and his Marxist friend’s are destoying us! We are the stupid one’s.
2Chronicles 7.14, guys! If we do not return to the kinda-sorta christianity upon which our country was founded, we will not survive.Jesus Christ saves those who OBEY Him, Heb.5.9; who DO the will of His Father, Mt.7.21; who love God with all their heart, mind, soul and strength and love their neighbors as themselves, Lk.10.25-28. Denying God, ignoring God, pretending that only trusting Him is sufficient, does not constitute the required OBEDIENCE! Unless and until we obey Him we will continue to deteriorate until we no longer can call ourselves a democratic republic; but a communist slave state; Oscumbos dream.
